You can’t spell Spain without pain - F2 Report

We arrived in Barcelona for Round 4 of Season 9 in SLR F2. BRT Griffiths hunting for an 18th SLR F2 pole and he delivered it in sublime fashion with Benster alongside. PHM Racing would have both cars in the top 3 with SLR Southerner producing a great lap to qualify 3rd. Trident’s HuskySaturn would be on reverse grid pole.

The sprint saw a flood of rain over the Circuit De Barcelona Catalunya, HuskyStaurn didn’t get away too well as he lost the lead to SLR Mash and would continue tumbling down the order, struggling in the tricky conditions. OwenHowell was spinning round like a record as he would struggle in these tricky conditions. BRT Griffiths and Benster were making great progress making their way to the front of the grid. Pit stops are rare in sprint races, but these conditions were taking the toll on the tyres, seeing drivers in at the halfway point for fresh rubber. Benster and SLR Medal who were both in podium pleaces gambled staying out an extra lap, it turned out to be the wrong choice as their front left tyres punctured, costing them valuable time and points in the race. BRT Griffiths timed it t perfection, taking another victory. F1ABQW3RTYYY had a fantastic battle with UKBeastAssassin and they would round out the podium with Beast coming out 3rd after penalties. A mega drive from the DAMS of F1ABQW3RTYYY showing his wet weather skills again.

Feature race saw the sun shining bright as BRT Griffiths on pole for a 18th time in SLR F2, Benster alongside wouldn’t make it easy for him. Griffiths however took off in the opening laps, not giving the PHM a chance to stay within DRS range. SLR Medal after losing out due to a puncture in the previous race was fighting SLR Southerner hard for the final podium place throughout the race. Some great pace from Baggiefan in the VAR saw him in the points pulling off some mega moves in the process. A race long battle in the mid pack was being led by SLR Southerner in 4th who was being challenged by Coupe a Benz but the Rodin Carlin of Benz couldn't quite do enough to threaten the PHM. Some small errors from F1ABQW3RTYY potentially costed him points as he came home in 7th just behind the ever-impressive SLR Mash. But out in front BRT Griffiths completed yet another grand slam taking the feature race victory with Benster and SLR Medal completing the rostrum.

Another round down in this great season in SLR F2. Next time out we head to the Red Bull Ring in Austria in 2 weeks' time where the SLR F2 Pole record could be equalled by BRT Griffiths.

Make sure to join us then when SLR F2 returns.

As you were, CM x
