Yas Marina Madness - F2 Abu Dhabi

Updated: Nov 23, 2023

We arrive in Abu Dhabi for the penultimate round of season 7, where BRT Griffiths took a second pole of the season closely followed by the new champion SLR Corey with Virtuosi getting both drivers in the top 3 with Semm rounding it out. Another great qualifying session for OwenHowell who put his Trident 5th with a storming lap.

For the second week in a row, it would be SLR Allen on reverse grid pole for the sprint and he excelled in the opening laps and had well over a second lap over the rest. SLR Southerner though wouldn’t wait around, getting himself into the top 3 and closed in on Allen for the lead and would eventually take this lead. The two starting on the front row for the feature race of Griffiths and Corey would be slicing their way through the pack looking to get as many points as possible. Semm and Benster would have an unfortunate incident seeing the virtuosi of Semm losing positions, how crucial could that be for the constructors championship? Griffiths and Corey would begin their charge on Allen for the final podium positions after having a hard time getting past the hard but fair defence of SLR Marsh. Allen after what had been probably his best race in SLR tried his best to hold off Corey, but the virtuosi slid past but not as easy as he’d hoped. Griffiths had to try equally as hard to get past Allen but without DRS unfortunately Allen was defenceless to the MP of Griffiths and would miss out on the podium. SLR Southerner however since he took the lead was under no threat from behind and would take victory once again this season in his challenge for the backflipping 4th in the standings. The damaged pair of Corey and Griffiths would round out the podium after getting caught up in a few mishaps in the early stages of the race. But take a bow SLR Allen, after recently coming back to wheel from an injury would come home to take 4th place narrowly missing out on a podium but a great result nevertheless. Shoutout to Marsh as well, as he was able to hold off the VAR of UKBeastAssassin to come home 5th!!!

Normally when you see a Corey and Griffiths front row this season you expect to see some action, and action is exactly what we got. Opening stages of the race Corey the slower of the two this weekend tried all he can to stick with Griffiths, going side by side for most of the opening laps and some wheel banging in the process. But Griffiths was able to extract all he could from his MP and hold on. A safety car however would neutralise the race due to the departure of SLR Allen after such a good sprint race. Griffiths would get us back underway and cleared off into the lead not wanting to battle Corey again. Benster after a tough qualifying would be flying his way through the field trying to claw back as many points he could for Carlin in the constructors championship. Benster would eventually be finding himself fighting for a podium position with UKBeastAssassin in the closing stages battling all the way to the final lap, could he steal a late podium? One thing was for sure is that no one was able to stop BRT Griffiths taking the feature race after an excellent drive with SLR Corey finishing runner up, the final podium position however would go to Benster as he was able to overtake UKBeastAssassin on the last lap, with SLR Southerner finishing 4th and the 2nd virtuosi car of Semm rounding out the top 5.

Next time out we head to the perfect place to round off the greatest championship of them all, Interlagos in Brazil, a favourite amongst our drivers. Two championships are yet to be won, the evo championship goes down to OwenHowell vs J Lee Menz which I can assure you will be one to keep your eyes on. Finally, the constructors championship between Virtuosi and Carlin, with Virtuosi managing to extend their lead to 57 points going into the final round. With 1 hand on the constructors championship for Semm and Corey, all they need to do is one final push to get it over the line.

Blogs driver of the round – SLR Southerner: Even though he missed the previous round in the states to watch Saints get shagged by Bournemouth he came back and shown his lightning pace. Winning the feature race and picking up 5th place in the feature. Showing that the older drivers can still win races 😉

Until next time, have a good one folks.

SLR Medal2533 vs J Lee Menz

Lap 16 - Feature

Verdict: 5 Second and 2 LP to J Lee Menz

In the corner before SLR Medal2533 loses the rear end a little resulting in contact and Menz having to go off track he then retaliates in a bad manner forces SLR Medal2533 off track which results in him losing a further position.

*Due to PaRa Quickz reaching the 12 LP threshold he’ll have to serve a Race Ban.*
