SLR F2 arrived at Sao Paulo in Brazil for Round 10 of Season 9, a circuit which throws up only the best of action in SLR F2. Qualifying saw business as usual for BRT Griffiths, a 21st SLR F2 pole as he looked to claim his 2nd world championship this weekend. Debutant Pluto had a sublime lap, putting his car on the front row alongside Griffiths, the ever-impressing FGE Atom rounded out the top 3 with OwenHowell36 on reverse grid pole just like he was in COTA.
The sprint got underway with Para Quickz and Owen Battling hard through the Senna S and it would end in Para facing the wrong way and unfortunately the PHM Racing driver of SLR Southerner would be collected and out of the race, his first on track DNF since Season 4!! SLR Medal took full advantage of the carnage and found himself in the lead and was doing an exceellent job to extend the gap. BRT Griffiths was making his way through the field, people making it a bit harder than he would have liked but some great racing on show from all our drivers. RaceRoller, the former champion was back on the podium spots looking to return to the rostrum with some mega pace. Griffiths would close in the later stages, but nothing was stopping SLR Medal from taking a fantastic sprint race victory! Griffiths finished runner up and RaceRoller22 returning to the podium after a great drive.
The feature race saw a mix of strategy with Pole sitter Griffiths starting on Hards but Pluto on his debut went aggressive on softs and attacked Griffiths substantially on his softs in the opening laps but couldn’t quite complete the overtake. PHM Racing were on a charge, Benster made his way into the podium places, sliding his way past RaceRoller and SLR Southerner after a sprint race to forget was fighting raceroller for that final podium spot. As the pit stops came around Pluto looked vulnerable on the harder compound as driver after driver pasted on soft tyres. BRT Griffiths took yet another feature race victory and with that the championship, a two-time SLR F2 champion, matching the great SLR Jam at the top of the standings. Benster finished runner up as he tried all he could but throughout the season no one was stopping the ART and a great recovery from SLR Southerner as he made it a double PHM Racing podium as they now have 1 hand on the constructors’ championship.
A solid round for some of our new recruits but experience defiently pays the part in SLR F2.
A two-time champ is crowned, and PHM are on course to take the title in their first season since their rebrand.
Next time out we return to Qatar for our 2nd visit to the Losail International Circuit and let’s hope it's an entertaining one.
Until then, have a great week folks!!
As you were, CM x
Blogs driver of the round: RaceRoller22 – The former champion has settled in brilliantly since his return to the division, managing to pick up a 1st podium since his return and it defiently won't be his last. 3rd overall this weekend from RaceRoller isn’t a bad showing by any means, let's hope we see this former champion back at the top for next season.

OwenHowell36 warning removal request
Lap 6 - Feature
Verdict 1 of the 3 warnings to be removed so 3 second time pen removed. (Race director provided).
OwenHowell is given hardly any racing room to keep his car within track limits once the move has been fairly made by Coupe a Benz so has slightly been forced to leave the track momentarily and therefore feel this warning should be removed. Warning to Benz to give sufficient room in this scenario to the car on the outside.
Owenhowell36 vs Big Al involving GRL Atom
Lap 6 - Feature
Verdict: 5 second and 1 LP to Big Al
Big Al misjudges his corner entry and catches the grass locking the rear brakes. This causes him to hit Owen off track but not spinning him. Then in what can almost be classified as a push to pass Big Al makes a sharp movement left to overtake Owen but comes across the normal racing line. Because of this Atom, who we feel is a bystander, catches Big Al’s sidepod. Which results in Big Al being knocked back into Owen and being spun off track.
Owenhowell36 5 second illegal overtake removal request
Lap 19 - Feature
Verdict: 5 second removed
Unserved and proved by race director. F1abqwerty is a ghosted car spinning back onto the track and Owen is wrongfully awarded 5 seconds.
