There's no place like Home! - F2 Britain

SLR F2 returns home to Northamptonshire for our home grand prix at Silverstone. BRT Griffiths was on course to take a record-breaking 19th SLR F2 pole this weekend, but Benster ruined the ART party as he takes a 1st pole of the season with a sensational lap to be the only other person than Griffiths to take pole this season. The HiTech reserve duo of FGE Atom on debut and SquashyCheese qualifying 4th and 5th was a standout qualifying for the HiTech pair.

The sprint race saw BadOtter on reverse grid pole who drove a mega opening few laps, maintaining his pace and the lead of the race, but the experience is where it matters in these cars and SLR Medal used all his experience to take the lead away from the MP driver and was on course for a second sprint race victory in a row. Griffiths and Benster were having a tough time making their way through the field having a tougher time than they may be expected. Benster would be the one who could feed his way through the cars the quickest, leaving Griffiths behind. penultimate lap Benster was well within DRS range of race leader medal and made a sensational move on the Trident to take the race lead and with that a second sprint race victory of the season, SLR Medal just missing out came home 2nd and rounding out the podium was BRT Griffiths having a tough time making his way through the traffic. A notable performance from FGE Atom as he finished p4 on his SLR F2 debut, the place he would be starting for the feature race.

The feature race had the two quickest drivers in the division right now on the front row, Benster and Griffiths. The ART of Griffiths with his notorious great starts replicated that again with taking the lead into Abbey the first corner and showed his meant business by pulling DRS of Benster. FGE Atom managed to move himself ahead of SLR Southerner and with that into the podium positions on his debut weekend! The safety car made an appearance due to PaRa Quickz having a meeting with the barriers on the Hamilton straight. This gave Benster a second chance to challenge Griffiths for the race victory. Benster tried his all, but it wasn’t enough to stop BRT Griffiths taking another feature race victory but nevertheless a weekend Benster and PHM should be proud off. FGE Atom take a bow! A podium on his SLR F2 debut capped off a sensational opening weekend in the division for him. Another drive that shouldn’t go unnoticed was OwenHowell, as he started down in 12th place respectfully and managed to make his way up to 6th in the end and hopefully a change of luck for the Van Amersfoort Racing driver as he has had some miserable weekends as of late in F2 and F1.

Back-to-back weekends for PHM at the top of overall points scored in a weekend in their charge to take the constructors championship. BRT manages to extend his championship lead as he is looking to take a break the SLR F2 pole record next weekend in SPA. We look forward to seeing you join us for round 7 of the season when SLR F2 returns.

Blogs driver of the round: FGE Atom – A debut weekend that will go down in history. P4 in qualifying showed Atom was looking to make a statement from the get-go. Made his way through the field in the sprint with some mega moves and the feature race was one to remember for Atom as he took a podium on his debut weekend. Looking forward to what he can do for the remainder of the season.

Coupe a Benz

Lap 1 - Sprint

Verdict: 5 second and 1 LP to Coupe a Benz

Goes deep into T1 and catches the car in front causing a knock on effect behind resulting in a collision.

BadOtterTV vs FGE Atom

Lap 4 - Sprint

Verdict: NFA

BadOtterTV is the driver off the normal line into club and leaves the nose of his car in a gap that was always closing we don’t deem atom to be at fault for the minor contact.

BadOtterTV vs BRT Griffiths

Lap 5 - Sprint

Verdict: NFA

Nothing in this, Badotter is the car on the inside at a pace disadvantage after mounting the inside kerb and Toby goes for an over ambitious move round the outside this results in locking of wheels/the games poor contact system coming into play.
