The Jewel in the crown

Welcome back to another race report! This past sunday, our elite drivers raced around Monaco, a track some love and some hate. Last season, HamJam2002 took the victory from his brother and Freeman. Was he able to make it two victories in a row? Let’s find out! With wet conditions taking over the race, it was ABR Freeman who took his first (official) podium and win of the season around a difficult and slick Monaco circuit! A controlled drive saw the McLaren driver lead from start to finish, and was able to capitalize on other mistakes, winning by a margin of 19 seconds. Xx JamHam xX came home second for the second season running, while the Alfa Romeo driver of raceroller22 rounded out the podium. Fun fact: every time raceroller has been on the podium in elite (2), Freeman has won. Newly promoted to Elite and a full time seat, Flembog finished a very solid 4th to get his first points in Elite, with gho3t C0LT brought the other Mclaren home in 5th, his first top 5 finish of the season. SLR Niki finished in 6th, his first points of the season and his best finish in Elite so far, in what was a very good recovery drive for the Fin. Midzy15 recovered from a Q2 Elimination to come in 7th, while Hoopolicious scrapped home in 8th after a very dramatic incident on lap 38 that saw ZyDRAD and HamJam2002 retiring, as well as multiple other drivers receiving damage. Bezzas1 brought his Racing Point across the line in 9th, with SLR Rando just behind in 7th, the Red Bull receiving his first point in Elite.

KevinGT9839 finished in 11th, with UKBeastAssassin and SLR Southerner behind him in 12th and 13th respectively. After qualifying on the front row, newly named LP Smoke fell down to 14th, with SLR Darnell and MeRkz47 behind him in 15th and 16th. Finally, our non-finishers are: HamJam2002, ZyDRAD, Crispy2001, and BDunk. And that concludes the blog for elite. We hope to see you next week for Azerbaijan! Will ZyDRAD be able to repeat victory? Be sure to tune in! Stay safe and stay well everyone.

SLR leaves Catalonia for the Principality that is Monaco, the Jewel on the Formula One Calendar and the race that everyone wants to win, the competition going into this race was pretty fierce as the championship favourites are beginning to show, and the drivers took to the track to the most qualifying session of the season, where it was SLR Dylan who found some of his form in a heated battle with CechThisOut, Mercedes vs Ferrari was the showcase as it was only 5thousandths of a second in the pole position time, with Dylan setting a 1:08.582, with Cech on a 1:08.587, class of the field in qualifying, and Mr Monaco SotierClock110 in P3 with a 1:09.031 Spanish GP Winner SLR Semm would start P7 but would quickly be demoted to the back due to a rule infringement, so his race suffered an early setback. Things got massively chaotic on the start as the lights went out and everyone rushed to St Devote and there was contact as drivers filtered through and the tight T1 caused a pile up, involving the Racing Point of JibJab325 going sideward and blocking the road for the bottom half of the grid as the top half raced away, leading to a restart. The second restart went much better as everyone managed to make it through T1 unscathed and JH199 managed to get CechThisOut on the start and slotted into P2 on the start and raced up to Massenet and Casino square, and Clock had lost out due to a qualifying penalty. Strategies were balanced and the race itself was going to come down to who could keep it out the wall, as they edged ever closer as the race progressed.

A lap7 Safety Car action saw soft runners jump onto hards, and the medium runners stay out, left drivers like Cech and BrindyBoi67 biding on another caution to hopefully take advantage of later in the race, but for now, track position was key, with CechThisOut Leading from BrindyBoi67 and SLR Dylan dropping into 3rd with a stop done and ready to run to the end. Battling was tough on the streets, and on Lap16, it was evident as BlandSiamang908 had tried a late move on SillyBunny47711 into the Nouvelle Chicane, but on the broadcast camera, it looked to be a day late and a dollar short as the gap was always closing, and Bland slammed into the wall as Bunny firmly closed the door, and after starting at the back following his quali ban, up in P9. A lap later saw the same action with Riggsey x and SLR Liam who were locking horns for the most part and they suffered a similar fate, both having to pit very soon after. Lap 25 saw another Safety Car as SLR Semm slammed his McLaren into the wall at T1 and ripped the wheel off the car, meaning a caution was needed, and pitlane activity was plentiful as the leaders could jump on fresh softs as well as the runners at the back, looking for a final chance in this race to salvage something. The race being neutralised meant that the hard runners had track position, but the soft runners, had fresher rubber.

Lap 35 saw the need for the safety car one final time after SLR Vandoorne crashed at the Casino turn and neutralised the race once more, meaning a final sprint to the flag, everybody jockeying for position, but with so little room to manoeuvre, overtaking was the biggest ask when everybody was able to widen their cars as much as possible. Not much would change as it would be SLR Dylan to hold off JH199 to nab his 3rd win of the season in a strong drive, with JH199 in P2 and Bennett628 with another podium to add to his tally in P3.

SLR Connor vs SLR Vandoorne 1

OUTCOME: No further action. 5 seconds for Connor stays because of no Race Director

We do not believe there was significant evidence that SLR vandoorne was the sole person responsible for this incident.

SLR Connor vs SLR Vandoorne 2

OUTCOME: 20 seconds and 4 License Points awarded to SLR vandoorne. 5 seconds for Connor stays because of No race director given.

Lack of awareness from Vandoorne causing him to hit into the back of Connor at high speeds. Giving Connor a 5 second time penalty by the game

OUTCOME: Qualifying ban 5LP

Readying up too early

After having just 11 finishers in season 5, Div 2 returned to the jewel in the calendar, Monte Carlo, the Monaco Grand Prix. And with how things went down in Spain, it looked like it was going to be interesting.

We started off the night qualifying, and with only 16 drivers taking part on Saturday, pole position would be taken by none other than rockamad73, his 3rd of the season. Joining him on the front row was OwenHowell36 who took his best qualifying in SLR to date, with championship leader SLR FemPest in P3.

Spectators went into the race licking their lips as we saw a wet start, but it was still dry tyres for the drivers. Things were getting interesting, and it was OwenHowell36 who took the lead into turn one in the tricky conditions, as rockamad73 fell down the order after a poor start!

Then with plenty of wing damage to practically everyone and 2 safety cars (importantly not as much as div 1...) we reached the chequered flag, as OwenHowell36 crossed the line to take his first ever SLR win, and in some fashion; by over 40s to the next car, lapping up to P8, and finishing it off with the fastest lap! Cal M Smith came home P3 at the end to grab his first Div 2 podium in his first week as a full time driver, but then was promoted up to P2 due to SLR Leah’s penalty from the stewards! The latter would finish P4, as the other Ferrari of ZachIsBeast25 would take P3 from the back of the grid, an impressive drive to take his third podium of the season!

A massive Well done to everyone who managed to finish a gruelling 39 laps in mixed conditions in close confines here at Monaco, and good luck in Azerbaijan!

OG James 96 vs zachisbeast25

Outcome: Racing Incident

Reason: James and zach make an unfortunate coming together on lap 1 which gives James damage.

Cal M Smith vs Rockamad73

Outcome: 5s + 1LP to Rockamad73

Reason: Rockamad comes across onto Cal’s line whilst being in front of him in the braking zone to try to prevent Cal from making an overtake, causing cal to have to take emergency action and slam on the brakes.

Craigfk vs SLR Scopezz

Outcome: racing incident

Reason: Scopezz misjudges his turning in point and makes contact with the left hand wall. This causes his car to come across and hit Craig, giving Craig damage. No pen shall be issued as it is a mistake by Scopezz completely unrelated to Craig that causes his car to be in the unfortunate position of giving Craig damage.

lDarkXenonl vs rockamad73

Outcome: 15s + 3LP to rockamad73

Reason: Xenon and rockamad are side by side entering the Grand Hotel hairpin. Despite there clearly being room on the inside entering the hairpin for rockamad to attempt to go in to give Xenon the room that he is entitled to, rockamad stays put on the same line with xenon to his outside. This gives xenon half a yellow wing and half an orange wing. An attempt should have been given by rockamad to deviate from his line and allow xenon more space as the corner tightened up to the right hand side

Zachisbeast25 vs SLR Leah

Outcome: 15s + 3LP to SLR Leah

Reason: Zach is on the inside of Leah into turn 1 but Leah turns in, makes contact with zach and spins him round

Zachisbeast25 vs SLR teddy

Outcome: Racing incident

Reason:Teddy and Zach are side by side on a very tight section of track. They try to leave each other room whilst battling side by side but unfortunately make contact and both hit the wall. This is unfortunately what can happen sometimes when racing at Monaco. No direct blame can be attached to either driver.

SLR Fempest vs SLR Bunny

Outcome: 3LP to SLR Bunny due to DNF

Reason: Quali block

Craigfk vs SLR Teddy

Outcome: 15s+3LP to SLR Teddy

Reason: Teddy doesn’t leave Craig enough room on the outside of turn 1 when attempting a move, causing the two of them to make contact and Craig to receive half an orange wing from hitting the outside wall.

Official Warning to SLR Leah and rockamdad73: reaching 7 LP

Race 7 and the jewel of the crown at Monaco and it was a mostly wet qualifying as SLR Dodgy in the Alfa Romeo took his first pole position with new division driver SLR Nealix in the Mercedes taking P2. The Renault pairing of SLR Hyperz and SLR J3st3r made up the second row. The race itself was a full wet affair from the start as Intermediate tyres were required for the race. SLR Dodgy had a bad start off the line as SLR Nealix took advantage to move into P1 into T1. With conditions so bad drivers found it very difficult to see the car in front of them let alone the corners as there were many incidents throughout the race. As we reached the first pitstop window SLR J3st3r opted for the undercut pitting first in P3 with SLR Dodgy in P2 making his stop the following lap as race leader SLR Nealix stayed out. SLR Dodgy managed to come back out ahead of SLR J3st3r in P2 but had an unfortunate error ahead of the tunnel spinning into the wall and getting further damage requiring more time in the pits. SLR Nealix who pitted the same lap was then overtaken by SLR J3st3r on the start straight as he took the race lead on lap20. SLR J3st3r then went on to set fastest laps and opened a huge gap between himself and SLR Nealix in P2. I21I Maxwell in the Mclaren had managed to find himself into P3 as we neared the final quarter of the race and he had a train of cars behind as SLR Gareth in the Williams and SLR Charlie in the Alpha Tauri were biting at him lap after lap. As the race came to an end though I21I Maxell was able to defend for his life and keep the others at bay. SLR J3st3r came across the line after 39 laps for his first ever SLR victory and this was an expert drive to claim the victory. SLR Nealix came home in his return to division 3 in P2 with I21I Maxwell taking the final podium place with an assured drive. SLR Gareth took P4, SLR Charlie P5, SLR Dodgy was in P^, SLR C0w3n P7, SLR St20h was P8, UK I Demonz was P9 and DaredPaul1986 took the final point in P10.
