McKeon

Round 14 of the SLR McKeon championship is at Suzuka, Japan. One of the most iconic tracks on the calendar one with many bends to tackle being a rollercoaster throughout a lap of this track but with it also being one hard to overtake, qualifying is definitely very important at this track. With recent races bringing great entertainment could this one be as exciting?

Qualifying for another time this season was a dry one so after all of the 16 who raced, it was ELiTE x RisKz taking his first pole position of the season! An impressive lap from the Alpine driver who has by his standards, probably a season to forget for himself, so this will be a welcome bright point to his season in McKeon. In second place was SLR Jam40, who I’m sure is getting closer to the drivers ahead of him in the standings, I will be happy to see the one ahead of him behind him, and is an impressive lap from the Mercedes man, really been showing a new turn of speed in the latter stages of this season really giving himself a shot at the title but also let’s see a new fight we haven’t seen this season between Jam and Elite. Rounding off the top 3 in qualifying was BMidzy who as of late, has shown mega pace in quali and another great lap from the Red Bull man who will be hoping to continue his form at take some more podiums but I’m sure he will be looking to get to the top spot just as bad. With some of the contenders in the championship being lower down than usual let’s hope for an entertaining race and watch all the drivers fight for their chance at one of the trickiest tracks to overtake at.

The race was a very clean one this week with no safety cars at all, non stop action all the way to the end of the race and it was ELiTE x RisKz who would go from pole position to the race win for his first win in the McKeon Division! A very impressive drive from the Alpine driver, who after having massive pressure from behind pretty much all the race, he kept his cool and brung home the win and I’m sure this will brighten his mood after having such a torrid season. Second place in the race was BMidzy who after getting past SLR Jam40, took the fight to Elite to try and take the win away from him, the master got beaten by the apprentice in style and has to settle behind Elite on this occasion. Rounding off the top 3 was SLR Jam40 who will surely be happy taking another podium this season really showing some great consistency and especially at a time he would need it beating TV8 Ogween77 and gaining some more ground on him so Jam must be thinking about his slim chances of getting near the top of the drivers. Notable mentions across the grid, SparksYT15 who may not have had a thrilling race but he came home in P10 to take another points to add to his tally. Having not scored points since Spain he must be happy being one of the drivers who can hover outside the points he has a good tally for a rookie and I’m hoping he can find a way to getting more this season!

A race of great intrigue, with no time to think, and a new winner this season. A race that may not have been pretty to the eye, but one that helps bring the championship even closer than it already was. Next time out we head to the Land of the Free, COTA, USA. A very different track to Suzuka, much longer with many slow corners but a track that can bite at any moment. With track limits being an easy thing to break, it will be a challenge for all drivers. Until then though I hope everyone has a great week!

Division 2

Into the last 5 races of season 10 in Summit League Racing Division 2 and this week we are in Japan! Very tricky circuit but who will come out on top?

Qualifying gets underway and it's the full traction guy FRL Kirito who gets the first lap time onto the board with a 1:30.018 but Jamiex6_ immediately responds with a 1:29.903. OwenHowell36 sets a 1:30.020 to go P5 as the championship leader J Lee Menz sets a time of 1:29.607 to go provisional P1 two tenths quicker than LSW L3G3ND44 who sits in p2 with a 1:29.858.

All the cars are out on track with 1 minute left on the clock, FRL Kirito sets a 1:29.873 to take p5, J Lee Menz takes pole with 1:29.194, Jamiex6_ takes P2 and Active JMC who doesn't set a single valid lap time starts at the back of the grid.

Here we go then after the world's slowest formation lap we line up for the lights and they are out and LSW L3G3ND44 after his host start goes from p4 to 5 tenths in front before turn 1 but somehow no collisions in sector 1 which is good for division 2. Lap 3 and J Lee Menz got his position back and pulled out a 1 second gap, sotierclock110 who's all over the place in sector one losing the car and causing a collision with SLR Mash which gives him wing damage.

Scar B0rga retires in the pits for some unknown reason, legendarydannyd has crashed in sector 1 and is out of the race but no safety car here on lap 8. Kemence61 has gotten himself up to P2 showing some good pace around the Suzuka circuit. Lap 12 and its the time for all the medium tyre runners to make their pitstop. Lap 15 Kemence has binned it into the pit entry wall after locking up his brakes and brings out a VSC. Jamiex6_ after starting on the hards has made his pitstop and took the lead of the race after being on the better strategy and starts to leave J Lee Menz behind.

Lap 27 Jamiex6_ after a great strategy call and drive crosses the line to take the win in japan with a 5 and half second gap to J Lee Menz who finishes P2 and then LSW L3G3ND44 in P3. a debut win for Jamiex6_ showing good signs to challenge for race wins in the final couple of races, which next week is a sprint weekend at COTA som make sure to join us for that.

Incident 1: 2LP to THATGUY for blocking a qualifying lap.

Clear block from THATGUY tht has a big impact on Vapid’s lap.

Incident 2: 3s and 1LP to Kirito for causing a collision.

Although the contact is minimal there is a clear advantage gained by Kirito as he is able to overtake Legend on the start/finish straight.

Incident 3: NFA - both drivers give as good as they get there. Vapid is squeezed on entry and ends up picking up a bit of damage and this contact causes kirito to be forced to the inside and then be pushed over the kerb on entry. Not the cleanest of racing but both drivers get their elbows out
