McKeon

The mckeon division arrived at Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix Where it was raining in qualifying. We received our first early shock at the end of q1 when SLR Corey, a race winner this season was knocked out! He’d be starting 16th.

Yet again it was last seasons runner up Midzy15 who put his mclaren on pole position! SLR Griffiths would line up alongside him in p2, zydrad and crispy occupied the second row.

The 5 lights went out and midzy held onto his lead whilst action down the back with Kevingt who spun and was down to last.

Crispy also got off to a good start jumping up to p3. Lap 2 and monkey was the second man to spin he was down to 18th, semm found himself caught up in an incident which resulted in him having to pit, he was down to last.

Lap 12 and KevinGT’s race went from bad to worse as he crashed! This meant the safety car was deployed! Everyone would pit.

Midzy would lead the pack round and execute a perfect restart maintaining his lead. Zydrad would retire in the pits later that lap after picking up damage and crowding found himself last after taking a trip through the gravel

Corey who chose the softs at the safety car went from 5th to first but would have to pit, crispy overtook his rival midzy for p2 which would turn into p1 once Corey pitted but crucially he had a time penalty to be added on at the end! Corey eventually pitted lap 25 and came out p14.

Lap 33 the checkered flag waved and crispy crossed the line in p1 but after his penalty he dropped to p2 and Midzy was yet again our race winner and further extends his championship lead, para quickz finished in p3 and stood on the last step of the podium

Join us next week as we look to tackle to streets of Monaco!

01) Incident involving Merkz47 & SLR Bennett - Lap 16 (Forcing another driver off track)

Outcome: No Further Action

Reason: After reviewing the evidence submitted to the stewards, we found that the incident that took place at T10 didn’t warrant any action. The room left by Bennett was literally a car’s width to what would be deemed acceptable, and despite the fact Bennett did not complete T10 by staying on the track, the evidence suggested that Merkz would also have not made the corner either had Bennett’s car not been there.

02) Incident involving Merkz47 & SLR Bennett - Lap 22 (Causing a Collision)

Outcome: Merkz47 & SLR Bennett both are awarded a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct

Reason: After reviewing the evidence submitted to the stewards, we found that the incidents that took place over the entire 3rd sector of the lap were worthy of both drivers being awarded warnings for future conduct when battling.

The stewards felt that this incident was in part caused by the aforementioned incident on lap 16, and that from T10, where Merkz makes a slightly forceful, but fair move, he leaves just enough space on the exit of the corner, where Bennett gets a better launch from the traction zone. However, Bennett’s warning is awarded for turning across Merkz’s Ferrari going into T11, and forcing him to take a warning for track limits. This causes both cars to then ghost through each other through to the T14/15 chicane, where Bennett makes a fair move into the chicane on the inside, and is more than alongside at the apex, and also makes the chicane. However, the wing damage Merkz suffers from is because of his action to turn into the Alfa Romeo driver’s car despite plenty of warning of his presence through proxy arrows & his car being visible to Merkz long before the apex of the corner itself. For this, he receives a warning, as he fails to attempt to leave any space to the Alfa Romeo driver going into this chicane.

03) Incident involving ConnorW & Para Quickz - Lap 6 (forcing another driver off track)

Outcome: 5s + 1LP awarded to Para Quickz for forcing another driver off the circuit

Reason: Para makes a DRS pass on the pit straight as lap 6 begins, and moves his car across Connor’s before it is safe to do so, forcing Connor off circuit when the move to the racing line at this time was simply not necessary.

Division 1

In catalunya it was a similar story to real life as it would be a battle between the ferraris and the red bulls lining up 1-4 respectively. It was different fortunes on lap 1 for the Milton Keynes based outfit as jito would get an amazing start and jump both ferraris into p1. On Arb0n's side of garage he got pushed down into p9 after being on the outside line for most of sector 1 and was getting swarmed by everyone on soft tyres around him whilst the top 4 in qualifying started on mediums.

In the race at the front was more a game of cat and mouse between now the alone lonely red bull and the 2 ferraris of Sync westy and elite riskz.

Not much was happening in the midfield as the drs trains made overtaking hard to accomplish however the difference in strategy and the pit window would be where the race was decided.

The top 3 would chose medium to soft and the ferrari of Sync westy went for the undercut on fresh softs but remarkably jito managed to get out ahead of Sync and they would switch positions all away till the end of the final stint however jito remained calm and composed and didn't pick up any time penalties and took home the win and the lead of the championship whilst Sync had to settle for 2nd.

As for 3rd elite riskz had a spin in sector 3 which opened the Door perfectly for Arb0n however he sacrificed some tyres to get past cars he originally lost on lap 1 so he couldn't quite complete a perfect comeback and elite hangs on for his first podium of the season.

As for other performances simbarocksONE managed to get a solid p5 after starting p12 and choosing the medium hard strategy and J Lee menz picking up his first points of the season in p6 after looking like a top 4 was on the cards for the majority of that race however shouldn't be to harsh on himself after a solid performance.

Streets of monaco next let's see which red bull can land the next punch towards championship glory or can slr cech after missing a race prove why he is still in contention for the crown

Division 2

Sunny Spain was our destination for Round 4 of the SLR calendar and Division 2 was the first group to take to the track in F1. Will DPT Paul cement his dominance in the division, or will another runner close the gap up at the top? Our first indication of this came in Q3, where DPT Alfie put in a rocket time of a 1.15.867, near four tenths to P2! He, along with DPT Paul and Ellis 37 would be starting on the ‘race tyre’ medium compound for a different strategy to the chasing pack.

Soon after, it was that time of the week. 5 red lights and away we went. DPT Alfie would not get the start he desired, but SLR Liamm pulls alongside DPT Alfie, with then VapidCoot74 making this a 3 way battle into the entry. Inevitably, contact was made as the runners had just not enough racing room for the angled turn of T1/2 and this resulted in DPT Alfie coming worse off. Was that blistering lap in Q3 going to come to anything?

Through the field, Turn 1 provided an issue for the rest of the pack too. The Haas of MasonGammon05 tangled in a messy situation comes sliding across track right to left, with I VR46 I and LSW L3G3ND44 also finding their own issues. Can they find a way back into this race after such a rough start?

Leading up the hill and over Lap 1, Ellis 37 sneaks around the outside cautiously and proceeds to go wheel to wheel leading through T2/3 with VapidCoot74 with Ellis 37 coming out in front for now. Vapid and DPT Paul, our championship leader, then proceed to go wheel to wheel almost throughout sector 1 with neither wanting to concede their track position.

Still on Lap1, Ellis makes a mistake going two wide through turn 11 and runs onto the grass allowing drivers behind such as Paul, Vapid and ALE to pass with no pressure. The running order would then seem to steady other than a flying DPT Alfie who would move up the order over time. Adrian has a spin on the final corner receiving damage but with no one around could jump into the pits for damage.

Moving onto Lap 4, the DRS straight in Sector 2 provided us with a race lead battle between Liam, back from injury, and Vapid. A mere couple of tenths split the two before going wheel to wheel into the left hander and up through T11/12 and into the final sector. Would Coot be able to make his move on the pit straight?

Yes! Lap 5 and we had a new race leader in VapidCoot going into Turn 1, and Liam would now have the difficulty of holding off the Championship leader of DPT Paul. A lap later and Paul would now move into the lead, this pattern would continue dancing between themselves. Meanwhile at this time, the first Soft runners were beginning to make their pits in the hope of a long 1 stop or aggressive two stop.

Lap 10 came and went, and from then till what seemed forever the two DPT boys of Alfie and Paul seemed to run away and dance amongst themselves for the race lead. Leaving the latter runners to joust for position. SLR Morgan and SLR Moley equipped with the longer running mediums positioned in P4/5 hoping for an excellent race result.

Lap 15, almost halfway through the session already and a major incident through Sector 1 involving the Ferrari of SLR Allen results in our first Safety Car. What would be the move from the drivers? All were in favour of a ‘cheap’ pitstop, most taking to the hard tyres leaving a sprint to the end. Safety car restart was smooth running for the drivers and seemed to take a tyre management approach to the end, and come the final lap, DPT Alfie was our winner despite the time penalty followed by DPT Paul and a colossal race from Kemence61 rounded off our Podium sitters. Shoutout must also go to SLR Morgan for a race with most positions gained, without time penalty would’ve been up there too.

Next week, we enter the world known streets of Monte Carlo, where our drivers concentration and patience will be pushed to the test. Who will make themselves a King amongst Men? Be sure to join us next week!

Liam Vs BadOtter - Neither penalty removed.

It's an unfortunate penalty for Liam, but as it is for an illegal overtake and not a collision behind the safety car it cannot be removed.

BadOtter's penalty will also not be removed as he instigates the contact and it is his responsility to follow the pace of the car ahead and avoid contact.

Incident 2:

VapidCoot Vs Liam Vs Alfie - 10s penalty and 2LPs to VapidCoot and DPT Alfie for causing a collsion.

Vapid's late braking into turn 1 is dangerous considering he has two cars alongside him. He would have struggled to make the corner had there not been any contact and this resulted in a collision with multiple cars leading to damage, hence the stewards felt it necessary to award Vapid with a 10 second time penalty.

Alfie turns in to the corner alongside Liam, but does not leave sufficient room for the McLaren driver, sandwiching him between himself and Vapid, therefore the stewards have decided to also award him with a 10 second time penalty.

Incident 3:

Owen Vs BadOtter - Racing Incident

Otter moves across to cover off the overtake attempt by Owen but there is never sufficient room for a move around the outside to be attempted, whilst the initial direction change came quite late, it is the responsibility of the car behind to avoid contact under braking, as is the situation here.

Division 3

In division 3 this week qualifying was greeted with an imminent arrival of rain so the rush to get out and get a lap in was on as everybody made there way out early. As drops of rain started to hit the visor. GoldenEggFryer and ssr halo a couple to be caught out.

In Q2 and Q3 it was an intermediate tyres that was fastest in tricky conditions. Matt silva coming off his win last week was the one who got pole here though with his first pole of the season. SLR Leah had his best qualifying to and would line up along side. Another driver with a good performance was Bcfc Josh who was on the second row in 4th joined by SLR EVVO who set the 3rd fastest time.

To the race then and everyone had a free tyre choice. With most of the field apart from the 3 at the back choosing the medium tyre. Clean get away from everyone on the grid. Turn 10 proved tricky for dosser who dropped down the order and then contact between blaze and chicknrosery sent him in to a spin.

Matt silva quickly got out of drs range of Leah in 2nd and on lap 5 Bcfc Josh overtook Leah to claim 2nd. A couple spinners all over the track meant the order was chopping and changing constantly.

The race then settled down a bit as the drivers piled on the laps as Alpeh and GoldenEggFryer were making progress through the field. As Josh retired from 2nd place.

SLR dosser was making good progress after an early off. Making a move on dRaSt1k blaZe around the outside of turn 5. As the pit window became open. SLR Charlie first in to get the hard tyres on. Matt silva, EVVO and Alpeh the ones to chose to stay out and look to put on the softs towards the end. There was lots of gaps between the drivers as the race hit a bit of a lull as the drivers that hadn’t pit were putting some solid laps to stay ahead and now having pit for softs would be clearly fastest to the end of the race.

SLR EVVO would make light work of passing Charlie who couldn’t really answer being on the hard tyre. Alpeh also now closing in looking for the last podium spot, with a few laps to go got the spot.

Last few laps didn’t see much action as the gaps between the drivers was two seconds all down the field at least so Matt silva took the chequered flag with his 2nd win in as many races. Converting the pole to win. SLR EVVO claimed P2 his best result of the season. Alpeh with a great drive to get the last podium spot coming from P16 on the grid. SLR Charlie 4th. SLR Leah 5th. SLR Jack 6th. GoldenEggFryer 7th coming from the back of the grid. Gregers Uk 8th. SLR dosser 9th and ssr halo picking up the last point in P10
