Sochi

Welcome back to yet another race report! This past weekend SLR returned to Russia, a weekend that was filled with amazing battles and big crashes. Let’s dive into Elite and see who came out on top!

After gambling to pit under a lap 1 safety car, HamJam2002 came out on top to claim another win this season, with raceroller22 behind him after also pitting lap 1 and able to make the mediums last the entire race. Xx JamHam xX added another third place to his collection with his championship rival Hoopolicious behind him in 4th. ZyDRAD recovered from 9th on the grid after failing to set a Q3 lap to finish in 5th place, with Flembog rounding out our top 6. TommyReal recovered well from 19th due to readying up early to finish 7th, with UKBeastAssassin and SLR Rando finishing in 8th and 9th respectively. Finally, SLR Southerner finished in 10th to record his first points of the season (GET IN THERE MAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTT) so well done to him on that! PSR Freeman finished 11th after spinning under the Safety Car restart, with PaRa Quickz behind him in 12th. Sync Rayner finished in 13th with MeRkz47 and KevinGT9389 rounding out our finishers in 14th and 15th. Our non-finishers were: V2 x Combat, LP Smoke, SLR Niki, and Crispy2001.

That does it for Elite this week folks! Be sure to tune in for all of the action next weekend for Japan!

PaRa Quickz vs KevinGT - Lap 8

15 seconds 1LP awarded to KevinGT

Para makes the move on the inside and on the exit Kevin has taken himself off track and on return to the track locked wheels causing major wing damage to para.

Sync rayner - Lap 24 Rage quit/retirement on track

15 Seconds 3LP

Sync rayner has had an off on track and the car has taken full wing damage. After doing this, the driver decided to retire on track by leaving the session. This, rage quitting, is treated the same as retiring on track and isn’t tolerated

Sync rayner vs tommyreal Qualifying incident/block

2 LP awarded to tommyreal

tommyreal has continued to drive on the racing line whilst sync rayner was on a lap causing him to have to avoid the vehicle ruining his lap

TommyReal- Readying up early

Qualifying Ban + 5 LP

As per the league rules, reasying up early is not tolerated and the necessary penalty as per the league ryles must be followed. ADMIN NOTE: While this wasn’t reported, we still noted it and have taken necessary action.

NOTE: Sync Rayner has reached 12 License Points, thus he will have to serve a qualifying ban at the next event he attends.

Entering round 17, the gap at the top of the championship was 26 points between riggsey x and brindyboi67, with the Scot being the form driver in division 1 and looking like brindy’s closest challenger. A big swing of points either way would have huge implications in the championship.

Qualifying started in the wet, which both these drivers love having finished 1-2 in the most recent wet races. They both were in the top 5 in a wet q1 but riggsey x crashed on his Inlap and would start 15th! Meanwhile the battle for pole was very close, with the top 5 of Brindy, bunny, Bennett, semm and Babatunde separated by less than 2 tenths.

Brindy was the pole sitter and led into turn 1 but behind him there was chaos.

Semm and Bennett lost a load of positions after an incident with a racing point and further back there was disaster for riggsey. The Renault driver sustained damage lap 1, effectively ending his race. A major setback for his championship hopes. After a few laps the order started to establish itself. Brindy had a commanding lead with the mercs in P2 and P3 closely followed by Jibjab’s racing point. Further back it was all aboard the Liam train as the Alpha Tauri driver was in close combat with SLR ranga, SLR Mckeon, LewisOD and cechthisout.

Entering the pit stop phase jibjab broke his wing into the pits and would join this train, which would become a battle for the final spot of the podium as disaster struck for Babatunde as he lost his wing after spinning in the middle sector! The Dutchman was set to close in on riggsey in the standings but would get no points as well.

Cech would eventually make his way up into p3 and began pulling away, but had a lot of penalties. Liam and Mckeon looked to be in a strong position but behind them ranga felt going side by side with literally everyone who got near him, having battles with Lewis, semm, clock and jibjab. Who said you can’t overtake at Russia?

These battles raged on until the final lap, providing some great entertainment. In the end brindy won by a country mile with Bunny in P2, cech managed to hold onto P3 after Liam picked up a last lap penalty and clock came home in a brilliant P4 on the alternate strategy due to having zero penalties. This performance was also worthy of driver of the day.

Semm vs Racing point

jibjab does leave semm room but probably doesn’t realise Lewis is also there and semm does so he know he can’t turn in and then he just gets caught in the middle with no where to go and the contact system unfortunately spins him. Overall the stewards believe it is an unlucky incident but no one driver is responsible.

Racing Incident

In division 2 Rockamad took the lead on the very last lap and would take the top step. Darren P2 and SLR Fempest P3 rounding out the podium after a nip and tuck battle all race. Halo would take an impressive P4 gaining 7 positions having took the mediums deep and being helped by a late safety car. Leah P5, Owen P6 having picked up a second penalty from the stewards. Extremely tight battle at the end of the race for the minor points places. Scopezz P7 after a solid drive from P16 on the grid. Jimmo P8, LSW Legend P9 and SLR Barlow rounding out the points.

Some good clean racing was on show throughout the race which was good to see.

And a shout out and thanks to Matt and Semm for the Comms and bringing the awesome graphics to Division 2

Alfiedk vs SLR Teddy - Causing full wing damage (lap 1)

Outcome: 20s + 4LP awarded to SLR Teddy

Reason: The Stewards identified that Teddy had plenty of room to his right hand side, and that squeezing Alfie up against the wall was completely unnecessary, causing full wing damage for the McLaren driver.

SLR Teddy Receives a Qualifying Ban for reaching 10LP

J Lee Menz vs OwenHowell36 - Causing minor wing damage (lap 12)

Outcome: 10s + 2LP awarded to Owen

Reason: Owen comes out of the pits and is side by side with Menz going into T2. However he completely misses his braking point for the corner - to the point where the stewards believe that he wouldn’t have made the T2/3 corner if Menz’s car was not there - and causes the minor wing damage that Menz picks up.

Alfiedk - Retiring on track (lap 24)

Outcome: Qualifying Ban + 3LP awarded to Alfiedk

Reason: Clear Violation of the rule preventing drivers from retiring on track

SLR Barlow vs Cal M Smith - causing minor wing damage (lap 1)

Outcome: 15s + 3LP awarded to Cal M Smith for a divebomb + Warning for SLR Barlow

Reason: Barlow receives a warning for what looks like a slight misjudgement of his braking point, and the stewards believe that he would’ve made contact with Leah’s Alfa Romeo without the assistance of Cal’s move on the inside.

Cal M Smith Receives 15s + 3LP for a divebomb, coming from multiple car lengths back in the braking zone before making contact with Barlow’s Alpha Tauri, causing his minor wing damage. The penalty is reduced on account of the fact that Barlow would’ve made contact with Leah’s car anyway given the position of Barlow’s car and subsequent trajectory before the contact with Cal.

Cal M Smith Receives a Qualifying Ban for reaching 10LP

SLR Barlow vs Jimmo - divebomb (lap 16)

Outcome: 5s + 1LP awarded to SLR Barlow for squeezing another driver off track

Reason: Jimmo comes out of the pits and is on much fresher tyres, and makes a fair move going into T6. However, Barlow completely turns across the Renault and forces him off track and undoubtedly the game would’ve given him a warning for track limits. Despite Jimmo gaining the position anyway, the stewards feel that the level of driving in that move cannot be condoned.

SLR Barlow vs SLR Bunny - multiple defensive moves in battle (lap 25)

Outcome: 5s + 1LP awarded to SLR Bunny

Reason: Bunny clearly moves out to cover the inside line going into the Chichane at the beginning of S3. However, going into the braking zone, he moves back onto the racing line and blocks off any move that could’ve been attempted by Barlow when in combat.

Darren 22 - SC Restart (lap 21)

Outcome: Warning awarded to Darren

Reason: Darren’s SC restart, while it didn’t cause any notable incidents, cannot be condoned. He clearly speeds up significantly coming out of the last chicane, and then checks his run, which is against the rules. Luckily no harsher penalty is given in this case as it’s not obvious to what extent he slows down before he eventually restarts the race.

Extra Stewarding notes:

Rockamad pit entry cut - while this incident was not officially recorded, all drivers are reminded again about their conduct regarding the pit entry lines. Crossing them is forbidden, and any officially logged incidents of this nature will not go unpunished.

Onto the Sochi Autodrom for race 17 and after a washout in qualifying it was SLR Dodgy that took P1 on the grid

with SLR Gareth in P2. SLR Charlie1 who had taken provisional pole was in P3 on the second row joined by reserve

driver Etsuko6595. As the lights went out and the race got underway, it was a carbon copy of the same race last

season as there was a huge accident at the pit exit this time between SLR Dolph1n and SLR Russell which brought out

an immediate safety car. The early safety car brought SLR Hyperz in for an early strategy change with a few others

coming in to fix wing damage. Lap 4 before the race got underway again as SLR Dodgy was leading from Jackcgb27 in

P2 and SLR Gareth in P3. Lap 5 saw Scott85laney make a move up into P9 past SLR Colden at T1 as Etsuko6595 was

pushing I21I Maxwell hard for P5. Safety Car number 2 then soon followed as an incident with SLR Spr1tley and I

Cxmzn I brought an end to SLR Spr1tley`s race making it 3 retirements in 5 laps. Lap 8 and it was back underway once

again, with SLR Dodgy leading the field followed by Jackcgb27 in P2 and SLR Gareth in P3. SLR Charlie1 was making

his presence felt behind SLR Gareth as he was looking to make it into P3 while Etsuko6595 was continuing to push

I21I Maxwell in P5.

SLR c0w3n then opted to pit on lap 8 which put him to the back while Scott85laney made a move

past SLR Stevooo into P7. It was then 3-wide as SLR Hyperz, SLR Colden and SLR Nealix all battled down the Sector 2

DRS zone for P13. It was SLR Colden that came through ahead with SLR Hyperz the meat in a Mercedes sandwich.

Into sector 3 and I Cxmzn I made a move on SLR Nealix into P15 as he forced his way up the inside of the final

chicane. Lap 10 then saw SLR Hyperz finally get his man as he took P12 from SLR Colden at the end of the DRS zone

in sector 2. Onto lap 11 and Scott85laney was making moves again as he tried to take P6 from Etsuko6595 into T1

only to be pushed back. Lofty4794 then clipped the wall around T3 and lost his front wing and then crashed out at T4

which brought out safety car number 3. This then prompted the race leaders to come in for the medium tyres as all

of the top 7 came in for stops. This pushed SLR Stevooo into the race lead with SLR j3st3r into P2 and SLR Hyperz into

P3 with SLR Dodgy returning in P7. Lap 14 and we were underway again but under full course yellow flags meaning

no overtakes could occur. The green flag came in sector 2 and racing was back underway. Lap 15 then saw SLR J3st3r

try to make a move into P1 down the main straight past SLR Stevooo but some great defending pushed SLR J3st3r

back to P2 with SLR Hyperz right on his tail in P3. Before we could get any good racing safety car number 4 was called

as Lofty4794 crashed out on the exit of T2 ending his race which meant another few laps of single file. Lap 18 and we

were racing again as SLR J3st3r re-started the race.

SLR Dodgy then made a move past SLR Nealix at the end of sector

2 into P5 as he closed in on I Cxzmn I. Lap 19 then saw SLR Dodgy take the inside at T1 past I Cxzmn I in P4 while SLR

Charlie1 was trying to make a move on SLR Gareth. Lap 20 and SLR Charlie1 was trying to make a move past SLR

Gareth on the outside of T3 with Jackcgb27 making a move on SLR Nealix into P6. Jackcgb27 then made another pass

into P5 past I Cxzmn I while GrumpyOrange976 contacted SLR Charlie1 at the start of sector 3 spinning him

off. Lap 21 then saw SLR J3st3r having to make his pitstop from the lead after taking the soft tyres 20 laps. This put

SLR Hyperz into the lead with SLR Colden in P2 and SLR Dodgy in P3. SLR Dodgy then made a pass on SLR Colden into

P2 down the main straight. SLR Gareth then made a pass on SLR C0w3n into P8 while GrumpyOrange976 just

decided to avoid T1 altogether with a very suspect move. Lap 24 and Jackcgb27 then made a move into P3 on the

main straight while SLR Gareth was still trying to make a move on SLR Nealix as a huge DRS train was sitting behind

I Cxmzn I in P5. SLR Hyperz then let SLR Dodgy past into P1 in sector 3 as he was looking to utilise DRS on the main

straight. Jackcgb27 then made a move into P2 on lap 26 with SLR J3st3r making a move into P9 at T3. SLR J3st3r then

utilised DRS to make moves up into P7 by sector 3 as I Cxmzn I was still defending his life for P5 at the front of the

DRS train. Final lap and SLR J3st3r made it up into P6 as he past SLR Nealix in sector 1 and made life difficult for

I Cxmzn I in P5. In the final few turns SLR C0w3n looked to have spun off but at the end it was SLR Dodgy that took

P1, Jackcgb27 P2 and SLR Hyperz P3. SLR Colden was P4, I21I Maxwell P5, SLR Gareth P6, Scott85laney P7, SLR Nealix

P8, SLR J3st3r P9 and I Cxmzn I was P10.

1) Incident - Charlie vs GrumpyOrange

Outcome - 15 Seconds and 3LP to GrumpyOrange

Reason - GrumpyOrange brakes to late and simply spins out Charlie

2) Incident - Maxwell vs Lemon

Outcome - Warning to Lemon

Reason - Drivers are reminded that when you are invited to a party by CoComms, you are to get out the way of everyone and retire in the pits due to connection issues.

3) Incident - C0w3n vs Laney

Outcome - Racing Incident

Reason - The stewards opinion is that C0w3n goes for a move very late and isn’t alongside enough for us to consider giving laney a penalty.

4) Incident - C0w3n vs Nealix

Outcome - 5 Seconds and 1LP

Reason - Nealix squeezes C0w3n very tightly which leads to wing damage to C0w3n.

5) Incident - C0w3n vs GrumpyOrange

Outcome - 5 Seconds and 1LP to GrumpyOrange

Reason - GrumpyOrange cuts the corner and overtakes c0w3n, gaining an advantage in the process.

6) Incident - Gareth vs Nealix

Outcome - No further action

Reason - We believe that Gareth should have backed out as it is very difficult to go side by side at the corner, Nealix our brakes Gareth and is far enough in front for it to be considered his corner. We feel this isn’t a squeeze from Nealix.

7) Incident - Dolphin vs Maxwell.

Outcome - No further action

Reason - there is enough space for the drivers but the game’s contact system means that the smallest touch has sent Dolphin into the wall. It’s very unlucky for Dolphin but we don’t believe it’s Maxwell’s fault.
