Singapore

The Singapore GP in the elite division ended in dramatic fashion as a late safety car saw a real mix of strategies within the closing stages on the race. Jam took his 3rd win of the season, capitalising on the fresh rubber of the softs tyres to pull off 4 overtakes in less than 2 sectors on lap 30/31. Hoopolicious was unfortunate to lose out on the win after leading from pole for almost the whole race. Bezzas rounded off the podium after a fantastic drive from 5th on the grid, opting to stay out on worn hards at the end.

Raceroller came home in a solid P4 after starting from P13, also benefitting from staying within the white lines. Sync Rayner took home his first elite points in P5 after starting way down in 17th. Freeman also gained a lot of positions climbing from P16 to P6. ZyDRAD was probably the biggest loser from the late safety car, multiple penalties saw him drop from a comfortable P4 to P7 at the flag.

Ham battled home to P8 after sustaining wing damage early on. MeRkz drove well to P9 on his return after a few weeks out and Kevin rounded out the points in P10. Beast, Tommy, V2 and Gho3t C0LT all finished outside the points and Southerner was the final classified finisher, albeit a lap down, after making it out of Q1 for the first time in 11 races. The first elite points will surely come soon for the resilient Ferrari man. Para, Rando, Niki and Smoke all failed to see the chequered flag.

Sync rayner - retiring on track (qualifying)

4LP awarded

SLR heads to Singapore for Round 14 and for the final flyaways in a season that has gave us thrills, spills and everything inbetween, and with the flyaways starting with the Marina Bay Circuit in Singapore, drivers will have that sense that their seasons enter the crunch time phase.

Qualifying was an intense contest as the top 4 were separated by less than 1tenth of a second, as it was BrindyBoi67 in the Williams nailing the fastest lap and another pole position time of 1:33.398. SLR Semm joins him on the front row in the McLaren, with a time just +0.049 shy of the Williams, and put himself in prime opportunity for a strong result to bumpstart his season going into the final races, as SLR Vandoorne continues to impress yet again, setting an astonishing P3, just +0.088 off pole.

The start of the race saw Babatunde in the Mercedes gain 2 places off the start as SLR Semm managed to push his way past the championship leader on the start as he led early on and looking solid for the McLaren. Lewisod leaped up 5places by the end of the first lap after another electric start under the Singapore lights and Riggsey x struggled for general pace as grip seemed to be non-existent for the Renault driver.

With Riggsey’s pace being insufficient to keep up with the top 4, they managed to build a gap, and with the Renault driver in P5, grip and confidence was weak and found himself in a heated battle with SillyBunny47711 and SLR McKeon, who looked quicker, but just couldn’t find the way past. It wasn’t until lap 5 where the Mercedes sought their chance. After the slightest tap between Riggsey x and SillyBunny47711 at T3, the latter stormed his way past the former, and the gap stood already at 4s between P4 and P5.

As the race wore, the much-anticipated rain would hit on Lap 8 and it was no light drizzle, the heavens opened, and the rain lashed down and saw all drivers being truly tested. The street circuit that has barriers looming right on the edge of the track limits, posed enough of a threat for drivers should they make mistakes, but with the weather changing in the blink of an eye, the grip was gone and the track was immediately damp. Drivers were left to delicately bring their cars back to the pits for intermediates, but the challenge to keep it facing the right way was paramount. Babatunde Sr lost it in sector 3 after losing it on traction, and race leader SLR Semm would lose his McLaren just two corners away from the pitlane, as the sudden downpour washed away his stunning drive to this point. Drivers all lined up in the pitlane with the switch to intermediates being the way forward. SillyBunny47711 would lead from Riggsey x and SLR McKeon would be P2 and P3 respectively following the pitstops.

The race would have its first VSC on lap 13 as we saw 2 of the leading 4 from the start, Babatunde Sr and SLR Semm retire from the race as their spins cost them valuable points, but with the rain dominating Singapore’s night skies, the race was far from done. On the VSC restart, SLR McKeon timed the restart to perfection and got his way up into P2 and fancied his shot at the lead, as Riggsey was caught napping on the restart.

The next couple laps would be race defining as Riggsey x would manage to retake the P2 he held following a better exit off Turn 3 and took his chance down the inside of the Haas at T4, and with slightly better traction and deployment of the battery off the exit, managed to get back into P2 as SLR McKeon would settle into P3 once again. The next lap saw the Renault driver get underneath the rear wing of the Mercedes, in the thick of the spray in the heavy rain, Riggsey x sought his chance, his opportunity to go for the race lead. With a solid run off the final two corners, Riggsey x went up the inside of SillyBunny47711 into Turn 1. However, as Riggsey was alongside going into the corner, SillyBunny47711 turned in and both made contact, leading to the Renault driver correcting the following oversteer and both having to go offtrack. Riggsey x would take the lead going off the exit of T3 in an action that was racing in extremely adverse conditions

The weather was rapidly getting worse and the safety car would come out and neutralise the race, and with the weather playing part, the grid was divided, with some coming in for fresh inters hoping the rain would ease off, and others who opted for wets and were ready for the worst of the monsoon. Sotierclock110 on the other hand, opted to stay out on worn intermediates, and would take the net lead under the safety car as the grid was under caution and drivers could gather themselves for the final run to the end.

The restart saw Sotierclock110 spin after lighting up the rears and Riggsey x seized the gift, slithering through the tight gap as the rest of the grid were caught behind, and SLR Vandoorne would be blocked off by the Alfa Romeo as both looked to try get back into this wacky race.

The rain would go almost as quick as it arrived, as the wet tyred runners had to come back in for the intermediates as the skies cleared and the rain got lighter, but with the tyre difference and performances, Riggsey was able to build up the advantage as BrindyBoi67 would take P2 following SillyBunny47711 and SLR McKeon jump back into the pit. TIR Jason, who was running around at the back and in obscurity for the most part, showed face as he was running in P3 for red Bull.

Brindyboi67 was a driver unleashed as they looked to chase down Riggsey x for the race lead, with the gap at 5.5s on L25, the chase was well and truly on, and with the Renault driver carrying an on track penalty, the advantage was with Williams. The chase was an exemplary showing of speed, ability and commitment for the victory, and as the Williams driver had the upper hand over his championship rival, Brindyboi67 picked up a crucial time penalty to be applied for track limits following the change to slicks. The track got wet very quickly, and the track got dry very quickly, as the weather once again played an important part in applying additional flavour to a race that was already rich and fruitful.

The fireworks would go off as the chequered flag fell for Riggsey x and for Renault for the second race in a row, however, is under investigation for his move on SIllyBunny47711 on L16, and this is subject to change, at the time of writing. BrindyBoi67 would find some rhythm once again as he takes P2 and TIR Jason would take P3 for Red Bull, in a prime showing as to why drivers never give up and go to the very end, as anything can change. This report will conclude with notable recommendation and mention to ARL PReDaToRZz for a very solid P4 finish and nailing his strategy, and also to Bennett628, who opted to go all in and turn traction control off, at Singapore, starting at the back following his crash at the Singapore sling in quali forcing him at the back of the grid, to take P5 in a remarkable showing once again and with the DOTD Nod by commentators, drivers and viewers alike

Cech vs Vandoorne - sc pen

Vandoorne does cause contact with cech, with the responsibility being on the driver behind to avoid contact, and as such a penalty is in order.

20 Seconds and 4 LP

Vandoorne vs Clock - unsafe rejoin

It is indeed unsafe and leads to a collision causing damage, the circumstances are hazy however a penalty is needed.

5 seconds and 1 LP

Dylan - unsafe rejoin

We believe it is unsafe and as such will be awarded a penalty.

2LPs as Dylan DNF

Mckeon vs SillyBunny - brake check

The stewards do not believe that either driver is at fault and it is unlucky more than anything else

No further action

SillyBunny vs Riggsey x

The stewards believe that Riggsey does not push bunny of the track and believe that instead it is a racing incident. Bunny turns in slightly to early leading to the contact.

Racing incident

In Division Two this week it was the wettest race we’ve had this season, and at no better track that Singapore! We started in the dry but the inters came shortly and the wets not long after!

SLR FemPest started on pole alongside rockamad73, however it would be Xx Allen xX7679 who would take his second win in 2 races on the line, he was mega quick in the wet!

However an incident earlier in the race meant the stewards had a part to play, and so the Race winner on stream lost out, and went down to P4!

This meant SLR FemPest took the win as well as the championship lead, ahead of SLR Leah and SLR Barlow rounding off the podium. As previously mentioned Xx Allen xX7679 took P4, but only just as the gap was 0.030s to OwenHowell36 in P5! rockamad73 continued his good form to finish P6, with debutant reserve Darren I 22 in P7 after a surge through the field on wet tyres. SLR Teddy would take P8 and J Lee Menz P9 after he picked up a 5 second penalty. He wasn’t the only one as dRaSt1k bLazE was demoted out of the points! SSR Halo picked up the final spot in the Top 10, and he was awarded an extra point for the fastest Lap in the race!

Darren vs Peanut - Qualifying Block (Q1)

Outcome: 3LP awarded to Peanut for blocking a qualifying lap

Reason: Peanut sits on the racing line going slowly, while Darren is on a qualifying lap at the end of Q1

Another clip was also sent in of Peanut in AI for a sustained period (beyond 5 seconds) during qualifying, but no official investigation was launched given there was no evidence suggesting he had blocked another driver on a hot lap. All drivers are therefore warned over their conduct in qualifying/race and should only be in AI mode to record clips etc, coming back to control the car when it is safe to do so.

Panther vs Blaze - Contact leading to full wing damage (lap 1)

Outcome: 5s + 2LP awarded to Blaze

Reason: the contact from Blaze pitches Panther into a half-spin, with him only regaining control over his rear end when he hits Scopezz’s stationary car. Given the fact that in a normal scenario, no damage would be sustained by Panther due to a clear track, the stewards have in effect decided to award half the major wing damage penalty (⅔ reduction in time + ⅓ reduction in LP). Driving standards like this cannot be condoned.

Scopezz vs ZtecTY - Spinning another car (lap 1)

Outcome: NFA

Reason: ZtecYT’s subsequent removal from the league means the Head Steward + Head Admin have come to a conclusion on the result of Ztec’s race outcome.

Original vs Darren - Spinning another car (lap 13)

Outcome: Racing incident

Reason: The stewards determined that Darren left just enough room on the inside of T15 for Original. Original then understeers into Darren, due to his trajectory and a loss of downforce on the front end by going side by side, causing the contact and spinning Original around. His wing damage then comes as a result of his throttle being fully engaged while spinning.

Menz vs ZtecYT - Forcing another driver off track (lap 4)

Outcome: NFA

Reason: ZtecYT’s subsequent removal from the league means the Head Steward + Head Admin have come to a conclusion on the result of Ztec’s race outcome.

Blaze vs Menz - driving off track and gaining a lasting advantage (lap 17)

Outcome: 5s + 1LP awarded to J Lee Menz for unsportsmanlike conduct

Reason: Menz was at no point, ahead of Blaze going into T7, and while Blaze then forces him wide and off the track due to Blaze’s high tyre wear at the time, it is recognised that it was Blaze’s corner due to him having the inside line, and it does not given Menz the licence to continue his overtake going into the next corner by running wide. In future instances like this, drivers are encouraged to try a cutback move to remain on track and continue with the battle going into the next corner.

Craigfk vs Allen - Spinning another car (lap 4)

Outcome: 15s + 3LP awarded to Allen

Reason: Allen clumsily runs into the back of Craig and spins him into the wall.

While the incident was submitted by Leah, we conducted the investigation as it was highly probable that if Craig was still part of the league that he would’ve submitted it himself, and the clip provided was from the stream, and identified by one of the stewards also.

Extra Stewards notes:

Action taken on ZtecYT

Outcome: DSQ from the Singapore event

Reason: It was identified after the race that the driver in question had lied about his age, and subsequently penalising him for individual incidents would not have been an efficient outcome. On behalf of the SLR team, the stewards and the admins would like to apologise to everyone who was affected by the incidents caused both directly and indirectly, as a result of a driver who should not have been part of the Singapore event.

Onto the Marina Bay circuit for Race 16 in division 3 and it was SLR Gareth who took pole with SLR Hyperz in P2 on the grid. It was SLR Dolph1n in P3 and SLR Dodgy in P4 that made up the second row for the start of the race. The race started with a great start from SLR C0w3n as he made early gains up to P3 with Lofty4794 up into P4, but it was SLR Hyperz that took an early lead over SLR Gareth. It took until sector 2 for the first safety car to be called as SLR Russell was involved in an incident that caused a 4-car pileup. The safety car then brought 6 cars into an early pitstop to make wing changes due to first lap issues. Lap 4 before the race got started again as SLR Hyperz made a great re-start pulling out a 1.5s gap over SLR Gareth as SLR C0w3n in P3 made an error and dropped back to P6. Lofty4794 then made a mistake coming round T7 which let SLR Dodgy claim P3 as I21I Maxwell was also up into P5 after starting in P11. By the end of lap 4 Lofty4794 had to make a pitstop which pushed I21I Maxwell up into P4. Lap 6 then brought out a VSC as Lofty4794 crashed out at T7 ending his race as SLR Hyperz had opened a 2 second lead at the front. Lap 7 then saw SLR Russell end his race as he crashed out of T4 as SLR Hyperz lead at the front had been cut to less than a second from SLR Gareth. As lap 9 started SLR Gareth made a move into P1 as SLR Hyperz was having connection issues while SLR Dodgy in P3 had also closed the gap right down. Onto lap 10 and GrumpyOrange976 who started in P17 was up into P7 as he made an overtake on I Cxzmn I at the end of the first DRS zone while SLR Charlie1 in P5 had closed the gap on I21I Maxwell in P4 to 0.5s.

Lap 11 then saw the first of the pitstops from the leaders as SLR Gareth and SLR Dodgy both opted to pit as SLR Hyperz opted to stay out. SLR Hyperz then came in the following lap with SLR Charlie1 and Scott85laney as GrumpyOrange976 takes the lead as SLR Gareth used the undercut to take P2 as SLR Hyperz returned in P3. SLR Hyperz was then able to claim back P2 as he made a move on GrumpyOrange976 round T13 and set his sights back on SLR Gareth in the lead. Lap 15 and SLR Dodgy finally managed to make a move into P3 past GrumpyOrange976 on the first DRS zone but was then over 6s behind the front 2 as SLR Gareth was just over 1s in the lead over SLR Hyperz. Lap 16 then saw Scott85laney take advantage of a disconnection from SRL Spr1tley as he took P6 up 4 places from his starting position as I21I Maxwell moved up into P8 passing X J Geddes X in the first DRS zone. Lap 18 and the lead for the front 2 of SLR Gareth and SLR Hyperz was now 11 seconds over SLR Dodgy in P3 as another safety car was called which would throw the race upside down. The race leaders opted to stay out while SLR Dodgy in P3 and GrumpyOrange976 in P4 both came in for the medium tyres with 13 laps of the race to go. This moved SLR Charlie1 into P3 with Scott85laney now up in P4 as SLR Dodgy re-joined in P5 with GrumpyOrange976 in P6. Lap 20 and with the safety car still out SLR Hyperz in P2 looked to have had a coming together with lapped car Aflyinglemon318. This caused wing damage to SLR Hyperz and he dropped down the field. This pushed SLR Charlie1 into P2 and Scott85laney into P3. Lap 22 and the race got underway again with SLR Gareth leading the field. Lapped car Aflyinglemon318 allowing the chaing pack to pass on T1 meant that the chase was on to SLR Gareth as he opened a lead of over 1second.

Lap 23 then brought another VSC as SLR dolph1n lost control towards the end of sector 3 ending his race. As the race got underway again SLR Gareth still maintained a 1 second lead. Lap 25 and race leader SLR Gareth crashed out at the hairpin in sector 2 meaning SLR Charlie1 took the lead as the safety car came back out with SLR Dodgy up into P2 and GrumpyOrange976 now in P3. The safety car then came in at the end of lap 28 which left 3 laps to race until the chequered flag. It was then a battle for P1 between SLR Charlie1 and SLR Dodgy as SLR Charlie1 continued to defend extremely well lap after lap towards the final stages of the race. Despite his resilient defending SLR Charlie1 was unable to keep hold of P1 on the final lap as SLR Dodgy was able to make a move on the first DRS zone into T6. SLR Dodgy was then able to bring home the car in the final lap to take the race win with SLR Charlie1 in P2 and I21I Maxwell made it into P3. Scott85laney was P4, Vision2614 P5, I Cxzmn I P6, GrumpyOrange976 P7, SLR Nealix P8, X J Geddes X P9 and SLR Gareth made it home in P10.

Incident - Laney vs Hyperz

Outcome - 20 Seconds and 4LP to Hyperz. Qualiban due to DNF

Incident - Cxmzn vs J3st3r.

Outcome - 20 Seconds And 4LP to J3st3r. Qualiban due to DNF

Reason: We have grouped these two incidents together as they are essentially the same incident. Hyperz drives back onto the racing line with no regard for laney. J3st3r reverses back onto the racing line with no regard to Cxmzn. Both of these incidents are dangerous driving and despite giving the respective victims different levels of damage, we award both Renaults with a dangerous driving pen.

Incident - Vision removing 5 Second penalty

Outcome - No further action.

Reason - Vision doesn’t provide his race director. If he wishes to provide the appeals panel with relevant evidence then he has the option to do so.

Incident - Vision vs Stevo spinning Russell

Outcome - 15 Seconds and 3LP to Stevo

Reason - Stevo leaves no room for Russell on the inside which causes Russell to spin.

Incident - J3st3r vs Russell

Outcome - Racing Incident

Reason - J3st3r and Russell are both at a complete stop, J3st3r then moves forward again and hits Russell so we believe it’s not Russell’s fault.
