Silverstone Appeals

Appeal 1 (D1)

Tooman and Menz

Steward's Decision - QB for Menz

Appeals Decision - Overturned

New Decision - QB + 3LP

The Panel felt that the penalty applied by the stewards wasn't sufficient for two reasons. The first one was a matter of stewarding consistency where penalty points are applied alongside a qualifying ban for blocks. The Panel have added 3 penalty points to Menz for this block to match previous incidents of this nature. The second reason is that Menz is significantly slower on a dangerous sweeping part of the track and applying penalty points not only matches the consistency set out by the panel for blocks, but also suits the severity of the incident as it was dangerously low speed and damage was sustained, ultimately ruining Toomans lap

Appeal 2

Jam and Darnell

Steward's Decision - 5s + 1lp

Panel Decision - Overturned

New Decision - Void

The Panel reviewed evidence brought forward and concluded that a stewarding error had been committed when this incident was being investigated. Jam provided evidence asking the stewarding team for the clip involving himself and Darnell in this incident and a lack of stewarding correspondence meant that there was no evidence for Jam to use to create a statement of defence. It must be noted that stewards must fully collaborate with drivers with all queries that they have to ensure full fluidity in investigations. The Panel understands that there are external commitments, but if drivers ask for clips or additional evidence of incidents regarding themselves it is up to the stewards to comply with these requests to prevent this from happening in the future

Note

It was brought to our attention that a lot of glitched penalties being given out after the finish in Division 1. We have gone through the Div 1 stream and we have amended the initial report so it now displays the correct classification for Div 1.
