SLR welcomed the greatly anticipated second season of F2 under the bright lights of the Sakhir International Circuit in Bahrain.
Newcomer ZyDRAD showed his intent for the title early on with the first pole position of the season and this was quickly followed up by a dominant win in the feature race. SLR McKeon also started his season strongly keeping ZyDRAD honest in 2nd and SLR Freeman rounded off the podium after a last-lap overtake on last season’s runner up HamJam2002.
An action packed sprint race quickly followed with the Darnell brothers (zZSouthernerZz and SLR Darnell) leading the way for a large part of the race before they were ultimately caught by HamJam and ZyDRAD. Last season’s champion Xx JamHam xX looked set for his first podium of the season after a tricky opening race in his brand new Trident car before an incident with SLR Freeman dropped him out of contention. The ensuing chaos allowed Ham and ZyDRAD to stretch their legs out front with the latter crossing the line first only to be dropped back down to 2nd due to a time penalty.
Overall it was an action packed opening round to SLR's second F2 season! Some drivers were quick off the marks whilst others are still yet to find their feet.
