We arrive in the United States for round 11 of the season around the circuit of the Americas. Qualifying saw a unique session with a wet track but on dry tyres, but that didn’t stop SLR Corey from taking an 8th pole of the season with Para Quickz very close behind. A great qualifying for Prema who had Para on the front row and F1ABQW3RTYY who’ been picking up the pace recently, also Trident qualifying 6th and 7th hoping to maybe overtake Campos in the constructors this weekend. The sprint race would get underway with SLR Allen under pressure from Semm into t1 but Semm with the inside line taking the lead and would take off in lap 1 pulling a 1s lead to SLR Allen. Benster after a tough qualifying had a great opening lap making his way into the top 10 hoping to score as many points for Carlin as teammate Ham is unable to race. Early stages aswell SLR Corey was fighting his way through into the top 5. Lap 4 of the sprint race saw Baggie having an early departure and to the misery of Semm there was a full SC Semm got a great restart pulling a second near enough instantly to SLR Allen. But the battle for 2nd was well and truly on with UKBeastAssassin and SLR Corey making their way past Allen, Corey with slipstream would slide past Beast and I’m not sure how but it’s a virtuosi 1-2 at this point (well it’s because the two virtuosi cars are running 1st and 2nd…) Benster with a great restart aswell would be up to 4th and closing in on UKBeastAssassin but he was running out of laps. But SLR Corey wanted this win just as much as teammate Semm and with the assistance of DRS would slide past his teammate and into the lead. (Even typing this I still can’t believe it) Corey would cross the line to bring home a virtuosi 1-2, UKBeastAssassin would complete the podium and a great drive from Benster to come home 4th place from 17th. The feature race would get underway with a mix of strategies Para would take the lead into the opening corner making the most of the supersoft tyre to his rivals. An early VSC would bring a pause to the race due to SLR Bennett deciding to pack his bags off to Abu Dhabi early. Para and Corey would continue battling it out for the lead with UKBeastAssassin trying everything to hold in their DRS range. Another battle going on was for 5th place with J Lee Menz and SLR Dodgy but contact between the two would see Dodgy lose out to SLR Medal and with Semm closing behind now. Para would pit early due to being on the supersoft but wasn’t able to drop SLR Corey. Medal would get ahead of J Lee menz and up into 4th and could be fighting for a podium at the end of the race…. Dodgy would close back up to menz but just was unable to get through, teammate OwenHowell would fight hard against Dodgy and would get through with a brilliant move round the outside of turn 2. Race leader Corey would come into the pitlane remaining in the lead but UKBeastAssasin would jump ahead of Para and now into 2nd place. Oh, and SLR Dodgy was now leading (he had yet to pit ) the undercut merchant Semm had also jumped multiple places in the pit stops now in net p4! An unfortunate collision between F1ABQW3RTYY and OwenHowell would see damage to one of the cars, SLR Dodgy would make full advantage of this making his way up into 7th past teammate Owen. However, the battle for the final podium place between Para, Semm and Medal would start to get tasty. Medal would make his way past Semm on his ageing supersofts. Medal was desperate to overtake Para quickz who’s on mediums but they both come together and Medal’s chance over, as Semm just about avoids it and is through into 3rd. But the weekend in the states comes to an end and it’s SLR Corey doing the double once again making it 4 races in a row with drivers doing the double. UKBeastAssassin came home in 2nd after a solid weekend with Semm getting a double podium this weekend. With this result SLR Corey is crowned the season 7 SLR F2 drivers champion and with an F2 grand slam aswell. A fantastic weekend for Virtuosi scoring 62 points and from being 21 points behind coming into this weekend now being 36 points ahead. An excellent weekend for Trident sees them jump ahead of Campos in the constructors championship. With 2 rounds to go the battle for the constructors championship is ramping up with the pressure on Virtuosi now. Next time out we head to the desert in Abu Dhabi where we’ve had many championship decider and classic races in the past. Blogs driver of the round – SemmF1: Semm had a tough qualifying down in 9th place respectively, but this gave him the upper hand in the sprint allowing his to finish 2nd and picking up 3rd in the feature race helping his virtuosi team in the constructors championship.
