Portimao, Round 5, SLR McKeon Division.
Portimao is a track that is entertaining with many off-camber corners, and many bends and undulations all over the track really make it a tricky challenge for all of the drivers. WTurn3r is still in the lead of the championship, looking to try and extend his lead at the top of the championship, WILL he be able to keep the lead of the championship or will there be a big swing in the standings?
Qualifying was a dry one and an ordinary session for all of the drivers but it was WTurn3r who would take the pole by 0.092 seconds! Taking his first pole position of the season this will be a great opportunity here for him to take a further lead in the championship at one of his strongest tracks. 2nd place was BRT Griffiths, an Aston Martin front row lockout, a really impressive show from both drivers, and will be interesting to see if Griffiths will be able to challenge Turner. Rounding off the top 3 was CrowdingDoor994, not far off the top two, he’ll be hoping for a better race than last week.
The sprint race was short and sweet like Midzy throwing up before the sprint, with many battles everywhere but in the end, it was WTurn3r taking the sprint race win and pole for the main race! More points to his championship lead and really can gain some more confidence with his strong showing this season. Only 0.384 behind was CrowdingDoor994 in P2, such a close battle and one which will hopefully continue in the race. Rounding off the top 3 was BRT Griffiths, only just behind the top 2, really showed how close the top 3 really is and the race result is going to be wide open for all.
The Race, full of intrigue and strategy, with no safety cars in the race, really made all have to get the right strategy in order to get out in the right place and not get stuck within a train Portimao is known for the lack of overtaking opportunities. Taking the win, in the end, was BRT Griffiths by only 1.772 seconds! After choosing the alternate strategy in the race starting on Mediums he made it work and got ahead of the Aston Martin of Turner and once he got the lead he was able to keep ahead till the end. 2nd place was WTun3r, who continues his consistency this season for another 2nd place and extends his lead at the top. Rounding off the podium was SLR Jam40 who started in P13, was really able to carve his way through the field, choose the right strategy and had all the pace, and got his way to the podium after the cough Fraud, TV8 Ogween77 got a penalty for track limits. Another notable driver was PaRa Quickz who from starting in P20, really had some good race pace and got all the way into P9 a really impressive reserve race from him, and shows when reserving he can have a good pace.
A relatively mundane race for all, stuck in DRS trains but strategy decisions all over the field before, during, and after the race, really did make it an interesting watch to see how the field would fare. Next up is Spain, a similar track to Portimao, tricky to overtake but more of an iconic track with some amazing battles in the past, Until then though hope everyone has a great week and we’ll see you for Catalunya!

The Algarve International Circuit or Portimao as commonly referred to is the next stop on the season 10 calendar in SLR and also the first of 3 sprint race weekends. Championship leader SLR EVVO comes into the race with a 45 point lead in the championship. Will he extend that gap even further or will someone gain some ground on him?
No rain is predicted for the session which is good news for everyone as a wet portugal race is not fun at all. 12 minutes left of the session and the times are starting to come in as FRL Kirito is the quickest so far being the only guy in the 17s with a 1:17:827, closest driver is currently Vapidcoot74 with a 1:18.095. TheTomboy97 who is a reserve in the alpine this week goes 2 tenths quicker than FRL Kirito with a 1:17.681 followed by SLR EVVO goes even quicker with a 1:17.484. Both Mercedes drivers then set their 2nd lap times of qualifying both getting into the 1:18.1s separated by just .035.
2 minutes left of the session as everybody is out on track to set their final lap times of qualifying, J Lee Menz sets a 1:17.627 to go P3 currently and as the chequered flag falls SLR EVVO sets a 1:17.227 to take not pole but p1 for the grid for the sprint qualifying, FRL Kirito takes P2 and J Lee Menz takes P3.
Everyone takes their grid spot and the lights are out and we are underway for the sprint qualifying and there's aggressive driving right from the off as dRaSt1k bLazE spins at turn one and dive bombs into turn 3 and SLR EVVO and FRL Kirito side by side coming out of turn 5 and they collide causing FRL Kirito to DNF and SLR EVVO needing a new front wing and brings out the safety car already. Safety car is coming in at the end of lap 3 and we are back underway TheTomboy97 leads the way in P1 and J Lee Menz and legendarydannyd collide on the exit of turn 1, OwenHowell36 goes down the inside at the final corner and spins due to loss of traction. TheTomyboy97 also does the same but from the lead of the race and it's gone horribly wrong for the Alfa Romeo team.
Vapidcoot74 is now in the lead of the race on lap 6 with LSW L3G3ND44 P2 and SLR Mash in P3, the grid seems to have calmed for the time being as everyone goes around cleanly for a whole lap! But as i say that J Lee Menz Spins and crashes out of the race which brings out yet another safety car, half of the grid pits for the soft tyres for the 2 laps remaining of this sprint race, safety car is in and everyone gets past turns 1-3 cleanly but SLR Mash has a half spin on the exit of turn 5 and loses 3 positions and so does SLR EVVO after recovering back to P7 now drops to P16. Chequered flag as VapidCoot74 takes pole position in the sprint qualifying, LSW L3G3ND44 P2 and Active JMC P3.
Clear skies for the full race then as the cars head around for the formation lap. Top 6 cars all starting on the medium tyre Adrian VIII starting on the softs and then a bit of a mix towards the back of the field. Lights are out and we are underway as LSW L3G3ND44 gets the better start and takes the lead into turn 1, GoldenEggFryer goes wide into turn 1 and SLR Mash takes advantage and takes P4, OwenHowell36 loses the back end going into the final corner and gets hit and that's his race ended before lap 2. VSC comes out and that slows the cars down for the time being and as its about to end Active JMC Speeds under the VSC and gets a drive through penalty.
Back under way on Lap 3 SLR EVVO loses the back end on the uphill right in sector 2 and is out of the race! Adrian VIII followed him on the next lap, losing the car at the exit of turn 4 and that brought out the full safety car. Only kislesko pits under the safety car for a set of hard tyres, could this pay off for him or will it rue him later on in the race? After a few boring laps under the safety car it decided to come in at the end of lap 7 with LSW L3G3ND44 leading the pack. No casualties so far until turn 8 where dRaSt1k bLazE spins and drops him to the back of the pack.
J Lee Menz also has a spin at turn 1 and it's not looking like a good race so far for Ferrari, bl3in5121 retires in the pits on the same lap. And now the race has calmed down and everyone has gotten into a rhythm at the moment. Lap 14 and Active JMC is the first to pit in the normal pit window which drops him to the back of the grid but it was bad timing as TheTomyboy97 crashes and brings out the safety car and now everybody but Kislesko comes into the pit lane to make their mandatory stops.
FRL Kirito has made his way up to P3 so far showing some great pace and certainly enough for the win. J Lee Menz comes into the pit lane and gets another 5 second time penalty for speeding as things go bad to worse for him.safety car is in at the end of lap 18 as we get back underway. FRL Kirito sends it down the inside of VapidCoot74 which comprises the Haas driver and loses another place to LSW L3G3ND44 and drops to P4.
Lap 26 and SotierClock110 looks to have spun on the exit of the last corner and drops many places and behind his teammate to P12. Last lap then as SLR Mash looks to finally get past Kislesko but hits the inside kerb of turn 1 and it unbalances his car and causes him to lose traction and has gone from P5 to P7 and the last lap of a race is just not something SLR Mash likes here in portugal but its FRL Kirito who takes the win just 0.193 in front of VapidCoot74 in P2 and LSW L3G3ND44 who takes that final spot on the podium.
Thank god there's no more of them sprint weekends for a while but we do go to the sunny place that is Barcelona next week for round 6 so make sure to join us then.

ncident involving J Lee Menz and legendarydannyd - Sprint, Lap 4, Turn 1:
5 second penalty and 1 License Point to legendarydannyd for spinning another car.
Danny carries just a bit too much speed through turn 1 which sees him tap the back of Menz’s car, spinning him. An unfortunate incident but still one that could have been avoided.

Incident involving SLR Moley and THATGUY - Lap 20, Turn 1:
3 second penalty and 1 License Point to THATGUY for forcing another driver off the track. It’s an ambitious move from THATGUY that doesn’t quite work, with Moley being forced off track despite leaving ample space. No driver receives damage and only a small amount of time is lost.

The stewards feel that Husky straightens his wheel and as a result hits the Ferrari driver, causing himself to spin.
@Josephhhh leaving the session on track and not joining back
Outcome: DSQ due to leaving the lobby. Quali ban due to repeat offence.
Due to Josephhhh not being in control of his car we have to DSQ him and due to this happening again and again we feel we need to penalise him further to stop him from repeating the same offence.
@SLRRaikkonen vs @Swinners28- lap 2 forcing another driver off
Outcome: NFA
The stewards feel that the corner is a tricky one to go side by side into and Swinners gives Raikkonen as much room as he can give and isn’t an intentional push off the track by Swinners.
