PHM enter the History Books - F2 Qatar

Round 11 of season 9 was upon us as we arrived at the Losail international circuit in Qatar for our 2nd visit to the circuit. No BRT Griffiths this week after clinching his 2nd SLR F2 championship, that gave other drivers the chance to steal the spotlight, and that is exactly what occurred. Qualifying saw Pluto take a 1st ever SLR F2 pole with a sensational lap time but an intense session which was only separated by 0.005 as FGE Atom impressing again got 2nd place with Benster rounding out 3rd and teammate SLR Southerner 4th as PHM Racing looked to clinch the Constructors championship this weekend.

Para Quickz on pole for the sprint with UKBeastAssassin alongside and they gave us some great action in the opening couple of laps. Benster was also making great progress in the PHM performing some great overtakes and even a few double overtakes into turn 1. Coupe A Benz & F1ABQW3RTYY were also putting on some great action as they were fighting hard for the SLR F2 Evo championship but a mistake from Benz saw him in the gravel and losing the chance to score points. A safety car to clear up the crashed DAMS of Para Quickz out the last corner and many of the drivers opting to pit for fresh mediums, with this a great end of the race was in store. Back underway we got, and the medium runners were using their fresh rubber to the fullest. Benster was on a charge for the rce win, going from 4th to the lead on the first green flag lap and he never looked back. Rodin Carlin’s UKBeastAssassin performed some great overtakes and made his way into the podium spots. PHM Racing and Benster would now have one hand on the constructor's title. UKBeastAssassin returned to the podium after a mega drive for Rodin Carlin and former champion Raceroller back on the podium again.

Onto the feature and a fresh pole sitter Pluto was ready to show SLR F2 what he could do. A great getaway from the young rookie but he had FGE Atom charging him down, the MP driver continuing to impress week after week. Benster though used all his experience to pass both and take the lead of the race! Teammate SLR Southerner made way of FGE Atom making it both PHM Racing drivers into the podium places, what a way this would have been to take the constructors title! The pit stops came around and penalties were thrown out galore for track limits and speeding, crucially one for Pluto which would later cost him in the race. Some great driving down the other end of the grid aswell with some of SLR F2’s newest recruits, with WillCromack and Chewytoffee fighting hard for their first points and would claim their first ever SLR F2 points so a massive congratulations to the both! Out at the front though, Benster had taken a dominant race victory and completed the double, teammate SLR Southerner would make it a PHM Racing 1-2 meaning they were the Season 9 SLR F2 Constructors champions and well deserved as well, a huge congrats to the two drivers! FGE Atom rounded out the podium adding to his impressive tally since joining the division only a few races ago. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be for the pole sitter of Pluto, as he finished 2nd on the road but a 5 second penalty dropped him to 4th place, nevertheless he should be extremely proud of his achievements this weekend and in a no matter of time we will see him stand on the SLR F2 podium.

Personally, the best round I've witnessed all season so a massive thank you to all the drivers for putting on a great show and giving a great advert to the division, the racing on show was absolutely brilliant to watch.

As mentioned earlier the constructors title has been won by PHM Racing and their drivers Benster2413 and SLR Southerner, a superb season from both and a season they should both be immensely proud of.

Next time out we have the long-awaited conclusion to this championship, Yas Marina Circuit and one more championship up for grabs, Coupe A benz VS F1ABQW3RTYYY, whos going to take it? Make sure not to miss it.

Until then, have a lovely week folks!

As you were, CM x

Blogs driver(s) of the round – PHM Racing (Benster2413, SLR Southerner): The constructors champions had their best weekend all season! Qualifying 3rd and 4th both were determined to make ground in both races. Benster taking the sprint race win, and a mega recovery drive from SLR Southerner saw him claw back to 5th. The feature had Benster complete the double with his teammate making it a historical weekend for the team. Once again, congratulations to you both!

TeH Punisher warning removal request

Lap 8 - Sprint

Verdict: 1 of 5 warnings to be removed so 3 second time pen stands (race director provided)

TeH Punisher is given hardly any racing room on the outside of the double right end of s1 by GRL Atom so is forced to leave the track momentarily and therefore receives an unfair warning. Warning to GRL Atom to give sufficient room in this scenario to the car on the outside.
