Moist Monza Masterclass in McKeon

McKeon

Round 13 of the SLR McKeon championship is at the Temple of Speed, Monza, Italy. One of the best tracks that we head to the at the calendar with the slow and difficult first sector to the fast and flowing 2nd and 3rd sectors this track is one that is beloved by all for the racing that it brings and I’m sure this race will be no different.

Qualifying was a dry session so with all the drivers at full pace, it was a good session to watch for all, and after all 18 minutes, it would be BMidzy to take Pole Position! Been very strong as of late, and this result is no different a great lap to get him ready for the tricky race ahead, will certainly keep his confidence high. Second place, in the end, was SLR Ham19. Another strong qualifying from the Ferrari driver, consistently up there as of late and definitely has the race pace to boot, so this could definitely be a good race for him and hopefully, he can get some big points here after patchy form in races recently. Rounding off the top 3 would be SimbarocksONE. A driver who has shown glimpses of pace and today is able to put together a lap that puts him right in the fight for the win here, a good lap from the Alpine driver who is definitely showing he’s the number 1 driver now (fun while it lasted :’ D).

it would be BRT Griffiths to take the race win! A quick driver here but isn’t always racing but certainly is an expert and adapting to the weather which he shows here in style winning by a fairly comfortable margin, is a very good race from the Red Bull driver and one if he was able to race more would definitely get many of these kind of results. Second place in the end was BMidzy. Another podium for Midzy and McLaren really shows how strong their lineup really is, a good race from him slightly being off Griffiths in the race but definitely won't be a race he is too unhappy about, and gains back some points on those around him so definitely looking in the championship and I see no sign of his pace going anytime soon. Rounding off the top 3 would be SLR Jam40. A great race for the Aston Martin driver, who was always in there for the race, and with the penalty he received in the race being removed he gets to keep the 3rd place on the road and another podium for showing how strong he really has been in these races the pace is really there.

A fascinating qualifying with rain forecasted in the race many made their sacrifices. They had differing fortunes in the wet weather, but it definitely didn’t lack in the action department, It was a good watch for all and the championship became more and more interesting. Next time out we are in Marina Bay, Singapore. It is a street circuit with so many charms you have to be so close to the wall to extract all the time here and it is one of the most challenging tracks to master, but with the race, there is always close and a lot of battling going on up and down the field, it will be a good one to watch. Until then though I hope everyone has a great week!

Division 2

After a wonderful wet and windy Friday night last time out in Zandvoort, Division 2 joined the rest of SLR taking the trip down south to the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, just North of the city of Milan. And with the news of Driver’s Championship leader UKBeastAssassin out for this race, there was a strong chance of a change at the top of the table.

The same as every week we started the lobby with drivers boasting about their impressive qualifying times, however these would become rather irrelevant as we loaded into a very wet timed lap session, so a lot of practice for some drivers had gone completely out of the window!

One driver who didn’t have to worry however was Active JMC after he received a qualifying ban for actions in Zandvoort last week, however he still managed to steal the spotlight as he decided to serve the ban 6 minutes into the session, rather than at the start which he was advised before the lobby.

Amongst an entertaining wet quali with multiple retirements and plenty of spins, lock ups and corner cuts, it was F1ABQW3RTYYY who would take pole position, ahead of Ski Fee and Adrian VIII, who the latter seems to be becoming quite the wet quali merchant as of recent.

The start was pretty clean all things considered, Adrian had a pretty stinking start as he dropped to P7, however on the contrary Active JMC was already up to P10 at the end of lap 1. The top 2 remained as they were, however that only lasted until the final corner on Lap 2, as a good exit from Ascari for last week’s pole sitter Gorzi saw him pounce for a double overtake, taking him from P3 to P1!

In what was a very cloudy day, the one thing that was clear was that we were in for one hell of a race, and with scraps taking place all over the field in the early laps, you could tell that this race would eventually start to boil over.

On Lap 6 we saw THATGUY691244 call it a day after a horrid opening to the race, and as the yellow flags came out down the straight, they also came out as Ascari as SLR Liamm had a spin taking him down the order and eventually into the pits, and within a lap he was joined by fellow LO OwenHowell36 after he lost the rear at the first Lesmo, causing a lot of damage to the front of his car.

The battles would continue as we were approaching the half way point of the race, however thaty mark would be reached under safety car conditions after Active JMC hit the back of TCP Coutinho 10 a the first Lesmo, causing the latter terminal damage and a potential penalty to come for the Alfa Romeo.

The entire grid went into the pits other than Liam who made his way back to P10, so the only positions changing were in the pit lane, the big one being FRL Kirito jumping F1ABQW3RTYYY into a podium position. Gorzi still lead the way and would take the restart. He got a good getaway and maintained his lead, however the battle between Kirito, Qwerty and Adrian for P3 would prove costly as they dropped back from the top 2, and in doing so also Qwerty and Adrian dropping down the order slightly.

Contact between Qwerty and Kislesko at T1 resulted in a lot of the grid from P7 down becoming bunched up, and then all of a sudden a year later Owen was up into P7, albeit only because he forgot to brake and sent Kislesko down to P14. Whilst all this happened, Lap 20 saw our second safety car as SLR Allen found the barriers at the exit of Ascari and he was out of the race. Adrian was first to pit from P6, however he was jumped by Owen after he changed his wing. After all this, it was redundant anyways as the Top 6, who didn't pit initially, all went in the following lap and retained position. Owen did try his best to gain positions however, although that was just because he missed the Della Roggia chicane and went straight on; he gave his positions back.

So it was to be a 4 lap sprint at the end of the race, with all 15 remaining drivers on the softs... The commentators were licking their lips at all the racing that was about to commence. Gorzi still lead the way, with Ski Fee, Kirito and Scar B0rga following behind. Scar would come under pressure from Active JMC straight away which helped the top 3 get away, however the action would once again commence from P6 down, as initially Owen and Qwerty would come together at T1 on lap 25. This would then cause LSW L3G3ND44 to make his was up to P6 and looked on for his first points of the season... until the next corner, because he then made contact with Qwerty and that incident caused damage to at least 3 cars, including Legend and Owen who both were at the back of the pack once again, and both pitted once more. The action would continue in the final 2 laps, as FRL Kirito took P2 into T1 on the final lap! However he'd ruined his battery already, so Ski Fee took back his position on the run to the parabolica.

Gorzi would take the win then with a commanding drive, ahead of Ski Fee and FRL Kirito in P2&3, followed by Scar B0rga, Active JMC, Kislesko, Haze, Mash, Liam and Qwerty, however this would all change after stewards!

Join us next week at the Marina Bay Street Circuit under the lights of Singapore, we'll be opening the weekend once again for what will be a great set of racing!

Coutinho Vs JMC - 15s and 3LP for causing terminal damage.

JMC runs into the back of Coutinho, sending him into the wall. There was no attempt to try and avoid a collision.

Legend Vs Qwerty - 10s and 2LP to Qwerty for causing a collision.

Legend leaves enough room for a car to go through the corner on his inside but qwerty goes in too hot and understeers into the side of the Ferrari, causing a chain reaction for the cars behind.

QWERTY Vs Kislesko - 5s and 1LP to Kislesko for hitting another car.

Kislesko hits the back of qwerty under braking, causing the Williams driver to receive a time penalty.

JMC failing to serve QB correctly - Driver must serve the Qualifying ban again, in the correct manner.

Official Warning to Active JMC for accumulating over 6LP. He now has a total of 8LP and any further licence points will mean another Qualifying Ban.

SLR Baggie vs SLR Vettel Causing a collision - Lap 25

Outcome: 5 seconds + 1LP to SLR Vettel

Here we think that both cars are level maybe even Baggie is ahead for a second going into the corner, and Vettel just neglects leaving any room as Baggie almost has to cut the corner to avoid him.

SLR Hicklin vs. JPPGaming96 Spinning another driver - Lap 21

Outcome: 10 seconds +2LP to JPPGaming

Here, our thoughts are that JPP just goes for a move that is never going to be on and just drives into Hicklin here so we feel that the harshness of the penalty is required.
