McKeon Division - Abu Dhabi re-run Report

Updated: Oct 26, 2023

One last show.

Round 18 of the SLR McKeon championship is in Abu Dhabi. A challenging track for many with ERS being hard to save here and not many places to make overtakes it’s a staple for the calendar in real life due to its nature and the finale for SLR even if it wasn’t planned to be. Again with the championships all wrapped up let’s see who can win this last race for McKeon this season.

Quali was a good session with many challengers fighting for the pole position start in the race and in the end it was SLR Ham19 who would take the pole position! A fantastic lap from the Williams driver to end an up-and-down season quali wise, and this is definitely a result that will be welcome and puts him in a good spot to win the race. Second place was SLR Medal2533 who takes his best qualifying starting spot of the season and for the ever so consistent man, what a result and he’ll be hoping for more of this in the new game. Rounding off the top 3 was TMS SORA, who gets another good quali, and sets the same time as Medal but as he did it after Medal he slots in behind but is still a good result for the Ferrari man.

The race was one of intrigue with no safety cars at all slowing down the action meaning all of the drivers had to think about their strategy profoundly and make sure they covered undercuts and all those great things in the end it would be SLR Ham19 who would take the last win of the season! In the end, he didn’t take the win on the road but with TV8 Ogween getting track limit penalties he stuck behind him and took the win. Second place in the race was BRT Griffiths, who after starting P5 had a great start getting up to P2 by Sector 3 on the first lap, really showed great race pace just like Brazil, and takes another podium for the Aston Martin man and hopefully, we can see him again next season, a great competitor who always is up there. Rounding off the top 3 was TV8 Ogween77, starting in P14 is a good recovery for the Alfa Romeo driver whose last two rounds were so confident in his skills starting from last and still getting results is impressive. Other notable finishes were Adrian VIIII, who finished in P10 and got the fastest lap is a good result for the Div 2 man doing McKeon a goal he has been going for and he finally gets it, so I’m more than happy for him.

A good last race for many, and the end of this season’s McKeon championship. It’s been a blast all season being involved and watching the races, I hope everyone enjoyed it and let’s hope next season we can give just as much entertainment. Until then though I hope everyone enjoys the start of the new game!
