Imola

McKeon

The mckeon division arrived at Imola for round 2 of the season, and immediately we had an early shock, midzy was out in q1 after he crashed! Along with midzy, v2, crowding and para quickz all being knocked out in the first qualifying session and all these drivers will be looking to come through strong in the race on the alternate strategy.

Mr ogween was our man to take pole with pre race favourite SLR Corey lining up beside him in p2. VRA Andres and SLR Semm occupied the second row.

The 5 lights went out and Corey got the better start, immediately on the attack and overtook Ogween around the outside at turn 1 and would look to pull away. Later on in the lap VRA Andres locked his rears up and spun! This relegated him to the back.

Lap 4 and XPG Lando who was making his debut crashed! This brought out the safety car where griffiths, v2 and zydrad all elected to pit.

The safety car then came in and not long after that, monkey spun! This meant he was now at the back, Corey immediately pulled away from ogween not allowing him to have a chance of an overtake with drs.

A lap later, crowding spun! He was now 16th and raceroller was catching ogween where he found his way up ogweens inside at turn one and made the move promoting himself to p2.

Lap 22, crispy who had been chasing roller was now looking to make his move which would put him in effective p2 and on lap 23 crispy made his move on the champion!

Lap 27 and zydrad chose to retire in the pits and as the race was entering its final stages raceroller stuck with crispy and the pair were battling for p3 but the lap later Griffiths who took his hards from the early safety car got a puncture from p2! This meant crispy and roller were now p2 and p3.

Lap 32, the checkered flag waved and there was only one man who was going to win after taking the lead on lap one and never looking back! SLR Corey took his first win of the season. Raceroller took p2 and MR Ogween jumped crispy after in game penalties demoted him to p4!

01) Incident Involving SLR Connor & V2 x Combat - Lap 26 (Causing a collision/Forcing another driver off track)

Outcome: Racing Incident

Reason: Upon reviewing the footage, it has been determined that no one driver is at fault for causing the incident. Connor goes around the outside into T1, but leaves very little room at the apex, which forces V2 over the yellow sausage kerbing and naturally his line drifts across towards the racing line for T2.

Had Connor left more space at T1 then this either would not have occurred, or there would be greater grounds for giving a penalty.

02) Incident involving Riggsey x & V2 x Combat - Lap 23 (illegal blocking/weaving)

Outcome: V2 x Combat is awarded a 5s Penalty + 1LP for an illegal maneuver across the track before T1

Reason: Upon reviewing the footage, it was determined that the scenario had a part to play in why V2 suddenly lurched across to the inside of the track, due to his exit from the pitlane. He does move at the first possible opportunity he gets to defend his position. However, it's unacceptable for Riggsey to brake during a straight and lose 35+ MPH because of this. Had other cars been behind then it would’ve created a very dangerous scenario for everyone else, so V2 has to be more aware of the speed of oncoming traffic before making moves to defend positions in the future.

03) Incident involving Midzy15 - Qualifying (Deliberate crash/retirement on track)

Outcome: No further Action

Reason: Upon reviewing the footage, the stewards have determined that while some of the driver inputs coming out of T5 are peculiar for someone who’s made a mistake at the corner, there’s also reasonable effort from the driver to avoid hitting the barrier, so therefore there’s no conclusive evidence to suggest that the crash and retirement was intentional, so the stewards have chosen to take no further action.

Division 1

Division 1 concluded SLR’s running at Imola on the F1 2021 game with an enthralling race from start to finish.

Off the start it was a Red Bull 1-2 as Arbon EPA moved up into second place at the expense of SLR Cech. There was contact behind which left Simba with a mountain to climb from the back of the field. Jam had a great start from P7 on the grid to move up to P4 by the end of the first sector.

The Red Bull 1-2 wouldn’t last long though as Jito lost the rear heading up turn 10, resulting in the Swede spinning out from the lead.

Cech swiftly overlook Arbon, followed by Jam and SLR Quattro as Red Bull’s hopes of victory faded fast.

Our first retirements came in quick succession, SLR Sam ending his race in the barriers for the second week in a row led to the Safety Car making it’s first appearance of the season. Sam was soon joined by Menz who was unable to unlap himself in time to beat the safety car queue and thus the AlphaTauri team decided to retire the car.

Cech led Quattro off the restart with Arbon and Jam closely behind. The top 2 then proceeded to break away, which led to Jam making a move on Arbon who seemed to be lacking a bit of race pace. The top 4 stayed the same for the next 13/14 laps whilst the others jostled behind them. Simba and Ham were recovering well from the early spin and disappointing qualifying respectively and showed good pace on their hard tyres.

On lap 25 Quattro came a cropper at turn 10 and relinquished his 2nd place to Jam.

With a few laps to go Simba took 3rd off Arbon and it looked as though the Red Bull man’s chances of a podium had gone.

Cech completed a dominant drive with a comfortable gap to Jam behind. Simba and Arno jumped the Haas driver after penalties were applied for the other podium places. Jito had a great recovery to come home in P5 with Ham in P6 even with 9 seconds of penalties! ShutMedal finished in 7th followed by Tooman and Elite who had another race to forget after a good qualifying. SLR Barlow rounded out the points with another top 10 finish. Zach was an unlucky P11 for the second week in a row with Badderss, Smoke and Quattro all finishing outside of the points.

Reserve driver Loco Gibson and Menz both retired in the pits, with Sam our only on track retirement of the race.

It’s tight at the top and it really does look like it’s anyone for the taking in Division 1 as we head to Portugal next week.

Division 2

Well after a thrilling season opener in the Bahrain GP our next stop is the beautiful setting of Imola. For another race with a unpredictable end. SLR ALE took pole position in qualifying with a time of 1:14.669. SLR Morgan took second place to complete the front row.

Onto the race and as the lights went out DPT Alfie got a slow start dropping down the field from his P3 grid spot whereas LSW L3G3ND44 managed a blistering start getting from P6 to P3, all before we even made the first corner. The first corner/chicane at Imola is notorious for lap 1 incidents but the whole field made it through without any major incident.

The remainder of lap 1 remains a very feisty affair with drivers bumping throughout the field and come the final couple of corners we had our first retirement. SotierClock110 had some technical issues causing Ellis 37 to run into the back of him and as a result the Mercedes driver was sent into the barriers. The VSC was brought out to clear up the wreck and no less than 8 drivers pitted on lap 1 due to damage.

Through to lap 5 and the top 4 had managed to build themselves a manageable gap to the chasing pack and unfortunately this is where we lose our next driver SLR Allen. But there is no safety car this time so the top fours gap is safe, for now. Down the main straight from lap 5 into lap 6 SLR Morgan finally gets past SLR ALE to take the lead.

The race then calms down till lap 10 when we lose our next driver but again the VSC or safety car is not required, that driver was OwenHowell36. It is this point where our top 2 drivers pit onto the hard compound aiming to go till the end. They come out in P8 and P9 but do not hold the net lead. The DPT boys of Paul and Alfie pitted a couple laps before and undercut our previous leaders! All of this leaves legendarydannyd out in front who is yet to pit after starting on the mediums.

A horrific crash which saw Shaggy653 go airborne ended his race on lap 11 but yet again surprisingly there was no safety car. This left the field very spread across the track which a lot of the drivers would have been happy about due to the penalty count growing very quickly.

The race goes into a tyre management phase where the is very little apart from the occasional mid field overtake or spin. On lap 21 legendarydannyd off his very old mediums and slaps on some fresh softs. He rejoins the field in P6 but on much fresher tyres than those ahead and 11 laps to attack.

With this DPT Paul take the lead of the race for the first time. SLR ALE and SLR Morgan we’re not far behind and catching. The big question is can DPT Paul hold out till the end of the race on his current tyres, a 13 lap old set of mediums.

And 5 laps later we have our answer, he cannot. Down the pit straight with DRS SLR ALE and SLR Morgan overtake him. One went left and the other went right meaning they’re virtually side by side into T1. SLR ALE lifts meaning that SLR Morgan is our new leader with 6 laps to go. Over the past couple of laps the clouds have come in and things have got very dark. Is there rain on the way?

Onto lap 28 and a nightmare for our leaders. Adrian VIII crashes out and the race director finally decides to use the safety car. That gap the leaders had built up, gone in seconds. But more importantly during the safety car the heavens open! We are going to have a wet end to this race.

On lap 29 of 32 MasonGammon05 dives into the pits to put on a intermediate set of tyres, the only driver to do so. This drops him from P8 to P11 and on a track that still seems dry has he cost himself points or pulled off a masterclass.

Fast forward 2 laps to 31 and the safety car has gone in, leaving us with a 2 lap sprint race to the end. Although this won’t be much of a sprint as the conditions have worsened dramatically. Things get very punchy on the safety car restart but it is quickly apparent the drivers won’t be battling one another but their own cars to hold onto what they’ve currently got. It was now where the intermediates is the tyre to be on. With this MasonGammon05 managed to tiptoe his way past those struggling into P6.

Final lap, MasonGammon05 gets himself up into 3rd place in the first sector alone. Has he got enough time to get the lead of this race? Of course he does and crosses the line first. Now remember I said the penalty count was piling up earlier well unfortunately MasonGammon05 loses the race to this! He is classified as finishing 3rd.

Now you may be wondering who took the win and that man was DPT Paul. Paul was the only driver to not receive a in game penalty and well it paid off at the end giving him back to back victories to begin the season. To make things even sweeter it was DPT Alife that come home in second giving the DPT boys something to cheer about.

Well yet another late safety car combined with some rain turned this into another thrilling end to a race. Next week we are back with the Portuguese Grand Prix with what I am sure will be yet another intense race.

Ellis37 Vs SotierClock110 - 10s time penalty and 2LP to SotierClock110 for causing a major collision

Whilst the stewards acknowledge that there were mitigating factors which led to the collision, there is clear and obvious fault lying with Clock for the collision. However, after taking all factors into account, we felt that a 10 second time penalty was the right outcome for this decision.

Incident 2:

VapidCoot74 reset to track - 15s time penalty and 3LP for VapidCoot74

Resetting to track is not allowed unless there is a clear and obvious need to do so. This was not the case with this incident and so the standard 15 second time penalty is awarded.

Incident 3:

ARL PReDaToRZz Vs SLR Morgan - No further action

The nature of the first 2 corners means that it's always going to be tight for racing room. We felt that the move was made cleanly and fairly as contact was avoided.

Incident 4:

Ellis37 resetting to track - 15s time penalty and 3LP (Qualifying ban due to DNF)

Retiring on track is never allowed in any session.

Division 3

Division 3 arrived at Imola with a threat of rain during qualifying Q1 started of dry but we didn’t know know when it was coming… well it came at the start of Q2 the track was still just about dry enough on the out lap for the drivers but it was worsening very quickly.

SLR Leah was first out on track and looking like a solid lap but he spun towards the end of the lap which ruined his chances of getting an advantage. A lot of drivers did manage to take advantage. Bcfc Josh topped the time sheets at that stage. The intermediate tyres were able to set similar lap times to the ones that managed to set a time in the dry with GoldenEggFryer making it in to Q3.

The track was dry again in Q3 and we had a nip and tuck battle for pole with SLR Jack, Matt silva, SLR EVVO and Alpeh all within a tenth of each other but it was GoldenEggFryer who took pole with a 1.14.869.

To the race then and the first few corners was just a possession of cars a bit of contact further back at turn 6 though.

Lap 3 Gregers UK made a nice move on MVT Hurww at turn 9.

Lap 4 saw GoldenEggFryer spin from the lead which dropped him down the order.

The top 5 was now separated by a couple of seconds with drs of course now active. Matt silva took over the lead from SLR Jack. As we came up to a third of the way through the race we still had 20 runners. But NNT Boulange was the first to retire. The pit window was getting closer for the soft runners with a strong undercut here who would be the first to make the move.

Simon37m was now leading still yet to pit but the guys that had pit were closing in fast. Matt silva leading the charge. Simon then pit and began the charge back but was holted by a late safety car on lap 25 as two drivers crashed out. This allowed everyone to pit. The two leaders were held behind the safety car for a lap though before they were allowed to pit. Matt and Alpeh would still come out in 4th and 5th respectively.

As it set up a frantic finsih and fight to the end. With a 4 lap sprint race. With DimplyHornet now leading the way. And got a good restart and pulled a second gap to Simon in 2nd. Further back Alpeh and Bcfc Josh had contact on the final lap and it cost both of them the chance to finsih with good points.

Simon37m couldn’t catch DimplyHornet who took his first win in SLR, congratulations to him. Simon37m P2 then another strong result for him. Matt silva rounded off the podium. Gregers Uk P4. SLR Leah P5, SLR EVVO P6 his first race in a while. Active JMC P7, Samlamenace P8. SSR Halo P9 and GoldenEggFryer with the final point paying position.

Division 4

We started the day cloudy in Imola for division 4 with the weather looking to brighten up later in the day. With SLR Russell smashing out the fastest lap in the first round of Qualifying and Beethoven crashing out, leaving only 14 Drivers for round 2. Cxmxn topped out the tyre setting round of qualifying with with DarkstormQC SLR Marsh SLR Floersch and SLR Hicklin given choice of tyres and dropping out. The third round of Qualifying saw a Rapid lap securing pole position by Swinners28 with a 1.15.263.

The drivers lined up, the entire top 10 barring SmitHPDanX01, in 4th place, on the softs and the alpha Romeo team of SLR Hicklin and Stevobrick starting on the hards.

As the lights went out, positions shuffled as drivers made their way into the tight turn 1, just after the first chicane the race leader Swinners28 lost control, spinning and entering last place. Cxmzn and Bigbag92 both had made up four places, took first and second early on. Beethoven jumped up and amazing 6 positions.

After the initial lap Swinners28 and SLR Marsh entered the pits.

In lap 2 DarkstoneQC, the reserve for aston martin, hit the wall in sector 2 and a virtual safety car was called giving the rear drivers time to catch up and change strategy, Maxwell pitted for a tyre change and Beethoven pitted for wing damage.

In lap 4 Big bag took advantage of DRS and made a clean move on Cxmzn on the straight gaining first place into the first chicane. the following lap SLR Xhaka mades the same move to take second forcing Cxmzn down to third.

Lap 6 SLR Xhaka lost control of his car out of the last chicane losing him 3 positions.

Lap 9 SmitHPDanX01 in second place struck a lapped car spinning onto the track from the gravel, taking him out of the race and the First full safety car was called.

At safety car restart on lap 12, SLR Hicklin was on the hards in first place, Bigbag92 in second and SLR Russell third both having pitted.

On the pit straight on lap 15 SLR Russell and Bigbag92 used DRS to blast past SLR Hicklin putting Bigbag first and Russell second. SLR Hicklin had too much speed in the second chicane giving Cxmzn third who was almost going side by side with F1 Warhead in 4th.

On lap 17 Cxmzn lost a place on the pit straight again as F1 Warhead worked his way past into third. the top 4 pulled a large gap of 3.5 seconds to SLR Xhaka in 5tt the next lap, F1 warhead took second from SLR Russell using DRS on the straight. Lap 19 Bigbag and warhead pitted leaving SLR Russell and Cxmzn to battle till a safety car was called as Swinners28 crashed out.

Lap 23 at race restart, at the front led by SLR Russell, in second Czmxn Third Bigbag92 and fourth F1 warhead, making a massive comeback Popcornjoe in 5th had made it through most of the midfield just needing to see off xxxx Rosco xxxx. as 5th and 6th battled in this opening lap Cxmzn took first from SLR Russell.

at this point due to penalties, 3rd place Bigbag was if he kept behind the front two was net first and warhead was net 2nd. the next lap Bigbag made it past Russell and lap 25 SLR Russell spins allowing F1 warhead 3rd on track.

By lap 26 Cxmzn was leading with bigbag a few tenths behind jockeying for pole, F1 warhead two to 3 tenths behind him attempting 2nd Popcornjoe nose to tail behind again and lastly 5th xxxx Rosco xxxx sticking close but being standoffish being 4 tenths back in what looked to be a 5 way shoot out for first place, if one of these drivers blinked they wouldve been neatly sent back to 5th place. Bigbag blinked damaging his front wing with a late brake. The battle came to an end in lap 27 warhead gets swept off the track and ends up, ultimately, due to loss of traction in a wall.

Popcornjoe takes the lead followed by Cxmzn and xxxx Rosco xxxx with bigbag92 struggling to keep up with a damaged wing with four laps left.

Final lap over the line Cxmzn rakes in pole followed by xxxx Rosco xxxx and lastly Popcornjoe in third who was first on track but the top 3 got reshuffled due to penalties.

Incident 1: SLR Marsh vs St2oh - Lap 1, Causing a collision

Outcome: Racing Incident

Reason: St2oh is avoiding cars ahead of him, which is the driving factor for why Marsh hits him. This therefore is not St2ohs fault.

Incident 2: SLR Marsh/St2oh vs SLR Hicklin - Lap 23, Dangerous Re-entry/Causing a collision

Outcome: 10 second time penalty and 3 license points to SLR Hicklin

Reason: Hicklin has performed a dangerous re-entry which spins St2oh and which leads to SLR Marsh making contact with St2oh whilst taking avoiding action.

Incident 3: SLR Marsh vs BigBag92 - Lap 28, Forcing another car off track

Outcome: 3 second time penalty and 1 license point to bigbag92

Reason: Bigbag92 squeezes SLR Marsh off track causing SLR Marsh to lose a position.

Incident 4: SLR Marsh vs Stevobrick - Lap 31, Forcing another car off track

Outcome: Racing Incident

Reason: SLR Marsh is not significantly alongside to warrant space to be left, and and the subsequent spin is self inflicted.

Incident 5: SLR Marsh vs BigBag92 - Lap 32, Causing a collision

Outcome: Racing Incident

Reason: SLR Marsh collides into the back of BigBag92, under breaking and then loses the car under throttle on corner exit. The stewards deem this spin to also be self inflicted.

Incident 6: F1 Warhead vs PopcornJoe5822 - Lap 27, Forcing another driver off track/Causing a collision

Outcome: Racing Incident

Reason: Although Popcornjoe5822 does come across to the left, F1 Warhead is pointing to the right, whilst the proximity arrow shows another car very close on the right.

Incident 7: SmitHPDanX01 vs SLR Floersch - Q1, Blocking

Outcome: 10 second time penalty and 2 license points to SLR Floersch

Reason: SLR Floersch should not have been on the racing line as he stated he was in low fuel mode, and was not on a hot lap. As such he should have waited for SmitHPDanX01 to pass and/or stay off the racing line.

Incident 8: SmitHPDanX01 vs Beethoven974 - Lap 9, Dangerous Re-entry/Causing a collision

Outcome: Qualifying Ban and 4 License points to Beethoven974

Reason: Beethoven974 re-enters the track having gone off into the gravel, and then spins the car on the racing line into the path of SmitHPDanX01, immediately ending his race.
