We arrived at the Hungaroring for Round 6 of Season 8 in this SLR F2 season, where once again it would be Griffiths on pole and Corey alongside, new arrival BourbonBoy would round out the top 3. OwenHowell36 would be on reverse grid pole for Campos.
The sprint would get underway with the ever consistent SLR Medal shooting his way into 1st early on, looking for his first SLR F2 victory. SLR Corey and BRT Griffiths would have contact seeing both spin out at the chicane and chances of a podium gone. BourbonBoy would be making excellent progress on debut making his way up into the top 3 with ease with some great overtaking manoeuvres. Coupe a Benz hunting for a home podium pushed his DAMS to the limits and somehow not going past it but could he do it? One thing that was Verschoor was that SLR Medal was finally a SLR F2 winner in dominant fashion. A debut to remember for BourbonBoy as he crossed the line 2nd, and Coupe a Benz picks up a podium in his home country after a sublime drive.
The feature once again saw Griffiths and Corey on the front row with Griffiths getting the better start bur Corey struggling as has been the trend for the reining champion this season, losing out to BourbonBoy at the start aswell. Corey would later have a great battle with SLR Southerner for the final podium place until Corey sped into the pitlane ending that battle. Medal starting 9th for the feature would be making excellent progress by the pit stops, up to 5th place and later getting past the Rodin Carlin of Corey for 4th and closing in on Southerner, could it be a double podium weekend for Medal? SLR Mash who has also shown excellent this season would get past Corey but with 3 extra seconds of penalties it would be a close one for 4th. Griffiths would cross the line to win the feature once again with BourbonBoy having a dream weekend picking up 2nd place in both races. SLR Southerner would be on the podium once again after holding off SLR Medal. Corey would just get Mash on penalties just at the end. But the big story is that BaggieFan1995 would pickup the final point.
Next time out we head to the iconic SPA Francorchamps where we’ve seen thrills and drivers end up in hospital beds, let’s hope this time round the drivers can stay away from those kinky nurses and stay within the white lines instead.
Until next time, stay safe and have a great week folks
As you were, CM x
