Home sweet home!

Revs were up in Silverstone! We came to the home of Formula 1 and the home of Formula 2. Season 3 Silverstone F2 we saw some absolutely fantastic battles all through the grid. I would certainly recommend watching it back on stream. In the words of Merkz47 ‘this is what F2 is all about’......and it is!

One shot quali we saw Ham take pole just from the ever improving SLR Darnell to fill the front row. In third we saw a surprise in Babatunde closely followed by SLR Southerner in fourth who achieved his best ever dry qualifying in Formula 2. Formula 2 world champions ZyDRAD would start tenth following lobby issues and Jam would start twelfth after a lap invalidation.

The Feature! Most of the grid opted to start on the hards with only several drivers starting on the softs. This meant depending on the timing of a potential safety car there could be big winners and losers. And there was! Lap 2 saw a collision involving Babatunde and SLR Niki which brought out an early safety car which after lap 3 the softer runners went for their stop. Back underway and we had a shuffled up pack. After starting on the hards Ham had a clear track to try and pull away to minimise the damage of a poorly timed safety car and back in tenth plus we had Darnell, Southerner, ZyDRAD and Jam carving their way through the grid. Along the way we saw Darnell make contact with Mckeons rear that sent the campos driver round ending hopes of a win. After all the stops it was Southerner leading from ZyDRAD and Jam. Lap 11 round stowe ZyDRAD overtakes Southerner round the outside but after the tiniest bit of contact Southerner got sent round into the barrier thankfully without damage. Nobody at fault just one of those unfortunate things in racing. Seconds after Jam made the move on ZyDRAD to take the lead and from then on it was a two horse race to the finish where it was Jam who came out on top! ZyDRAD came second bouncing back from last weeks disappointment and Darnell coming home in third. Ham would recover from the poorly timed safety car to finish fourth whilst Southerner managed to recover from his spin to finish fifth.

The Sprint! Starting on pole was British driver Raceroller who would hope this time not to spin whilst in the lead and starting second was F2 veteran UKBeastAssassin with SLR Semm in third. Away we went and the first few laps we saw an impressive show for the lead at the front with Ham, Beast, Raceroller and ZyDRAD which was also closely followed by Southerner and Jam. Once Ham got that move done for first he was gone! But behind remained a battle where we lost UKBeastAssassin to a spin that ended his hopes of strong points. Once ZyDRAD got the move for second he also drove off with the hope of a late charge for Ham. For the rest of the race there was battles all to the end. Battles for seventh, battles for tenth, but the one we all had eyes on was the battle for third between Raceroller, Jam and Southerner! Amazing driving from all three right up to the very end. Come the end Ham was finally able to end his awful streak of bad luck to claim a well earned and deserved F2 Sprint victory from ZyDRAD and to claim third was Jam who pipped Raceroller and Southerner to the last spot on the podium.

And that was Round seven for you ladies and gents. You....Hungary for some more? Well tune in to next week! Will we see another memorable battle for the lead? Watch this space!

SLR Semm Vs l VR46 l - Causing a collision (Feature lap 6)

Outcome: 3LP + qualifying ban for VR46 due to DNF

Reason: VR46 outbrakes himself however completely punts the back of Semm and sends his car spinning. We also unfortunately have to give a qualifying ban due to VR46 retiring from the race

Babatunde Sr vs SLR McKeon - Squeezing (Sprint Lap 2)

Outcome: 10 seconds + 2LP for McKeon

Reason: After reviewing Dylan's POV, we do not see McKeon's car enter AI mode at any point although he claimed he was in AI. His car forced Dylan off track and onto the grass so we feel a penalty is needed.
