Penultimate round of the SLR Formula 2 season takes us to Brazil. A track that never fails to disappoint and has been a track to have crowned many SLR drivers in the past and could well do in the present. Here Raceroller22 and SLR Dodgy could secure their championships today should the results go in their favour but at a track like this it wouldn’t be straight forward.
One Shot Quali! In a wet Qualifying Crispy2001 showed who is best in the wet taking pole by almost half a second! He would once again lead a UNI Virtuosi front row with Darnell in second. UKBeastAssassin once again impressed to take third sharing the second row with II Division II who continues to show improving pace of late. Championship leader Raceroller would start seventh just ahead of best Evo Class qualifier SLR Dodgy in eighth.
The Feature! Revs were up and away we went and UKBeastAssassin makes a stunning start from third to take the lead into turn one. Raceroller moves up one place to sixth behind teammate SLR Cech. The Carlin pair would surprisingly battle all race despite the title being on the line for the scot. Crispy, Beast, SLR Southerner, Darnell and Division were your top five all separated by 3 seconds. Further back we had an amazing threesome between J Lee Menz, MasonGammon05 and SLR Dylan putting on a great show. Up ahead Beast on the harder tyre was doing a great job keeping up with Crispy for the lead until drama struck for the Charouz driver! A rare mistake sends Beast into the barrier and is out of the race! Thats him now out of the championship running! Lap seven we saw the softer tyre drop off as Darnell closed the gap right up to teammate Crispy. We got to see an interesting battle all the way down for seventeenth between full time debutant SLR Marsh and SLR Xhaka. There seemed to be battles everywhere you looked but one battle that seemed race long was between SLR Southerner and Division. The pair were locked in but Division would take the place going into turn one. With a penalty to Divisions name all Southerner had to do was make sure the Hitech driver didn’t pull away. Drama in the dual for the Evo title where it appears both Campos drivers were involved in an incident with MasonGammon. Darnell is the last to pit and comes out in front of the battle between Division and Southerner to have clear air ahead on the softer tyre to hunt down his teammate for the win. We still had battles right up to the end as on the last lap Menz and Dylan danced once more for seventh with Dylan coming out on top. Come the finish Darnell prevails to win the Feature to lead the UNI one two. SLR Southerner is back on the podium to take third beating Division on pens. Raceroller had to settle for fifth pipping his teammate SLR Cech with SLR Dylan taking seventh. Evo feature winner SLR Dodgy took another step closer to the Evo title with eighth with SLR Bennett and J Lee Menz rounding off the points.
The Sprint! SLR Dodgy starts on a crucial pole for his own championship hopes sharing the front row with SLR Dylan with the Carlin pair of Cech and Raceroller just behind. Away we go Dodgy keeps the lead into turn one, Crispy makes up a couple of places in a desperate need of taking the title race to the last round, Menz is attacking Darnell and Bennetts race ends early after unfortunate contact with Hitech driver Division led to the MP Motorsport drivers retirement from the race. Crispy and Raceroller were separated by the scots teammate Cech until a spin sent him to the back of the pack. Moments later a mistake from MasonGammon sent himself into the wall also ending his race early.
After five laps UKBeastAssassin found himself in ninth despite starting down in seventeenth. SLR Dodgy would soon start to fall down the order but still finding himself in a great points scoring position. Dylan was now your new race leader but not for long as Raceroller would fight to take the place only for the positions to change again soon after. Huge drama few laps later where contact between the title rivals send the UNI driver into the barrier losing his front wing ending his chance of great points and mathematically possibly ending his hopes of taking the title to the last round. Yet again the drama didn’t stop there as a late spin from Menz all but confirmed the Evo class title was going to the other side of the Campos garage. The battles kept going til the end as Raceroller makes a crucial move to take the lead from Dylan on the last lap and by doing so would go on to win the Sprint race ahead of the Dutch reserve. Darnell takes the final podium spot just ahead of UKBeastAssassin who had a stunning race after starting towards the back of the grid. Southerner takes fifth just pipping Evo sprint winner Dodgy who also took maximum Evo points for the round to all but confirm the Evo title. Division takes seventh and SLR Marsh of SLR F1 division three impressively scores his first SLR Formula 2 point.
We go into the season finale in three weeks time with both championships still not secured however they they are all but sealed. Raceroller provisionally has a lead of 40 points where the UNI Virtuosi pair of Darnell and Crispy can still win in it should Raceroller have an absolute mare. All SLR Dodgy needs to do in Abu Dhabi to take the inaugural Evo Class championship is to become the highest placed Evo Qualifier. The script looks set. The coronation awaits for two.

SLR Bennett vs Division - causing a collision - lap 1
Outcome: 10 second penalty and 2LP
Reason: Divison is at fault for the incident, whilst the stewards do not believe that the collision is intentional we do believe that he is at fault coming from the edge of the track into the side of Bennet resulting in the crash.
Crispy2001 vs Raceroller22 - causing a collision - lap 10
Outcome: No further action
Reason: The stewards believe this is a racing incident with neither driver being at fault, whilst unfortunate again the stewards cannot assign blame to either driver.
