Yas Marina hosted the final round of Season 9 in SLR F2 and another cracker it provided right from the get-go. Qualifying had yet another name enters the pole sitter's history book with BourbonBoy putting in a sensational lap to take his first SLR F2 Pole position with last weeks pole sitter Pluto alongside!
Baggiefan returned to the grid on Thursday night and that meant he would be on reverse grid pole of course, congratulations to him on his reverse grid pole award! Unfortunately, the VAR driver had some contact in the opening corners meaning he dropped down and out really before the race got properly underway. Joseph who was partaking in his debut SLR F2 race would inherit the lead and would be over 3 seconds clear in as many laps! BourbonBoy was making excellent ground in his Prema, carving his way through the field pulling off some great overtakes but he also had a very quick Benster alongside him everywhere they went. Benster would eventually fly his way past the ART of Joseph who was having an excellent debut. Evo championship leader F1ABQW3RTYYY was not having his greatest show in his DAMS, just inside the top 10 but his championship rival Benz was in 4th and would finish there, meaning the Rodin Carlin had the advantage going into the feature. Benster crossed the line to take the sprint race win and continue his great form. BourbonBoy had a sublime driver from 10th to finish 2nd just behind the PHM and finally, welcome to the SLR F2 podium club Joseph, on debut he finished P3 and showing he is a true force to be reckoned with.
The final race of the season and one more championship to decide, will it be F1ABQW3RTYY or Coupe a Benz who takes the evo title? Underway the feature race got and technical difficulties for BourbonBoy saw him out of the race as it got underway, heartbreak for the Prema who has had some amazing pace. Pluto with that inherited the lead of the race and after cruely missing out on his first podium last time out was on the comeback to get it. Benster however was on the hunt for another win as he got past Pluto and flew off into the distance. Coupe A Benz’s chances of the evo title was growing large as the DAMS of F1ABQW3RTYYY was struggling out there after a tough qualifying, the Rodin of Benz still inside the top 5 and just needed to cruise home. A late saftey car would bring the field back together again and 5 lap sprint to the finish. Two-time champion SLR Jam returned to the grid for this weekend and after a forgettable sprint had a feature to rememeber, getting his Trident car up to 5th place after qualifying down at the back! Out infront though, Benster would make it 5 SLR F2 race victories in a row and another double to add to his collection as he ended the season in style! Pluto would finally get his first and will definitely not be his last SLR F2 podium after a great drive and SLR Southerner rounded out the top 3! Coupe a Benz however crossed the line in P4 crowning himself the season 9 SLR F2 champion! Congratulations to him!
Another season over and done with then, probably our toughest challenges we have had to face over the past of the two seasons on this game but myself and SLR Southerner cannot thank each and every one of you enough for the fantastic racing and cooperation you guys have provided to make sure we have great racing like this each week! We only plan to make next season greater and hopefully we get a game that everyone can enjoy!
Thank you to everyone behind the scenes as well including the stewards who have taken a lot of their spare time this season and have done a brilliant job this season and of course the LO’s to make sure we go racing at all.
We will see you all in season 10, when SLR F2 returns.
As you were, CM x
Blogs driver of the round: Pluto – A great qualifying from Pluto as he put it on the front row for the second week in a row and a lot of confidence behind him. Some decent points in the sprint race only boosted him for the feature and leading the feature race in the early stages but unfortunately couldn’t stop the dominant force of Benster but nevertheless definitely Pluto’s best weekend in his very short SLR F2 career so far and that first race win is for sure not too far away.

UKBeastAssassin vs Pluto74
Lap 2 - Sprint
Verdict: NFA
Fair racing in and out of the chicane.
Pluto74 warning removal request
Lap 5 - Sprint
Verdict: Warning not to be removed.
There was never a cars width on Atoms left out the chicane for Pluto to attempt a clean overtake, If he would have completed an overtake it would have been off track. This is further backed by the illegal overtake timer he got returning to the track. Pluto put his car in a risky position at his own accord. Got unlucky with Atom getting the kick out but Pluto was always risking a warning by putting his car in such a position.
