Farewell season 7

We arrived in Sao Paulo, Brazil for the final round of season 7 with 2 championships left to be claimed, constructors and evo. Who came out on top? Well qualifying saw SLR Corey take yet another pole in this season with BRT Griffiths alongside (this is getting repetitive now)

This deserves its own paragraph, BaggieFan would be on reverse grid pole for the sprint. Yes, you are reading that right BaggieFan would be on pole for the sprint race.

Onto the sprint race now and unfortunately the dream for Baggie was over before it even really started, dropping down outside the top 10 in the opening laps. Which then saw EO31Echo lead temporarily before getting involved in a 4-car battle for the lead. The battle for the evo championship was well and truly on because the lightning fast OwenHowell would take the lead of the sprint but with SLR Corey beginning to chase him down, he would later get the lead off Owen after a tough battle between the two. UKBeastAssassin would also be on a great charge making his way through into 3rd place with some great overtakes. From what turned from jubilation now turned into commiserations for Baggie after an unfortunate collision saw him out the race with the safety car being deployed. But with the ever-unpredictable weather in Interlagos the rain was forming, and BRT Griffiths took the gamble to pit for wets hoping it would get heavier. Safety car was in ans Corey shot away from the restart looking to add to his collection of wins this season. Owen was managing to hold off UKBeastAssassin behind him, but the VAR gave it everything and it was check completed for an overtake on P2 which went in favour of Beast. SLR Corey would take yet another sprint race victory this season with Beast following him home in 2nd and a round of applause for OwenHowell, at the 148th time of asking stands on an F2 podium for the first time.

The final feature race of the season was underway with BRT Griffiths trying all he could to attack Corey, BUT HERE COMES SLR SOUTHERNER with a lightning start even thought about a look on Corey into turn 1 but wasn’t able to trouble the virtuosi unfortunately. Then in typical style Corey and Griffiths would put on a great show for the lead, using the DRS to their advantage and swapping positions. Menz was getting a move on knowing he had to outscore Owen by 2 points going into this race after a poor sprint was getting his DAMS car up into the top 5 at one stage. The pitstops closing approached and it was SLR Corey who blinked first an came out 2.5 seconds ahead of BRT Griffiths, but we saw these two at France and how crucial fresh tyres were for Griffiths in that race. Griffiths would waste no time getting back into Corey’s DRS. The final podium position would be well up for grabs after SLR Southerner managing to hold on to 3rd for now but with SLR Ham closing in behind, who was going to get it? Going onto the penultimate lap Griffiths with DRS and fresher tyres would make the move on Corey and would hold on to take another feature race win, these two drivers putting on a show as always and without a doubt will do for the championship potentially next season. SLR Southerner would hold off SLR Ham to take yet another podium and 4th in the championship (keep an eye out for those backflips ladies and gents)

But the evo championship was won by no other than J Lee menz after coming home to finish 5th place with an epic drive and an excellent season for the DAMS driver. Virtuosi’s pairing of Semm and Corey would take home the constructors championship after a great season for the pair.

Well, that’s season 7 done and dusted then, a season that will go down in the history books for sure.

A massive thank you to all the drivers who have participated

A huge thank you to my fellow F2 admins; SLR Southerner, SLR Dodgy and SLR Mckeon 💜

We shall see you all for season 8 when SLR F2 returns

As you were, CM x
