Round 3 of the Season 2 SLR F2 Championship and it was another new addition to the calendar, Zandvoort, Netherlands!
We saw 6 drivers make their full time debuts this weekend and a lot of promising performances followed. Qualifying resulted in once again ‘another’ ZyDRAD pole position. Making it 3 out of 3 for the season (the guy is too quick someone nerf him before it’s too late).
ZyDRAD went on to take a commanding victory. Not even a mid race safety car could hamper his chances. His closest championship rivals of MeRkz47 & SLR McKeon followed up the final podium slots. Both UKBeastAssassin &SLR Darnell hit tyre woes on the final lap of the race costing them points scoring finishes. Crucially SLR Scopezz snatched 8th on the run to the line to give him reverse grid pole.
What followed on from that was pure magic. SLR Scopezz… your time has come. I don’t quite know what else to say other than W O W. First of all, this guy has been through a lot mentally… in his own personal life & to top it all off luck being completely against him so far this SLR season. However what followed was an unbelievable drive to convert reverse pole into sprint race victory. His surge to P8 from last in the feature set him up perfectly for the sprint and he didn’t put a foot wrong. SLR Semm followed up in a close second, his debut weekend in F2 and clinched a podium which was very impressive from him and the ever so consistent zZSouthernerZz bringing home another podium finish.
Next week’s races will all be dedicated to SLR Scopezz. He is now a permanent figure on the SLR SidePOD and will be featuring in this Wednesdays episode to talk about his story and to raise awareness for mental health. The support the entire SLR community has shown to Scopezz since his announcement has been quite remarkable. The amount of pride that we have to know that this community can be a support network for some makes SLR more than just a league racing community.
