Round three has arrived in season five of SLR Formula 2 and we arrive at sunny Spain! The circuit at catalunya has always proved to be a track that produces great racing no matter what the weather conditions are. This round we have a round full of sunshine which is always a big relief to the drivers who are not a fan of getting wet. One Shot Quali! The top twelve in qualifying would only be separated by nine tenths of a second which from what I can remember we have never had before. SLR Darnell takes his first pole of the season. UKBeastAssassin will also start on the front row with SLR Corey on his Formula 2 debut and SLR Dodgy behind in row two. Dodgy majorly impressing in which he also took the best Evo qualifier point. The Sprint! SLR Ham would claim reverse grid pole sharing the front row with Midzy15. Behind in row two was MasonGammon and reigning champion Raceroller. It was as you were from the front with the only notable changes early on Darnell and UKBeast already making up a couple of places and SLR Dodgy falling to the back after a spin going over the tricky uphill left. SLR Ham would show form of old to already stretch his lead from MasonGammon in second who was doing a great job keeping the likes of Midzy behind. After a couple of laps Crispy had already made up nine places up to tenth following another DSQ lap in quali. Lap six we saw our first retirement in the form of SLR Xhaka to bring out the safety car for the first time this season in Formula 2. Lap ten we were back racing where UKBeast was the only mover to react brilliantly to the restart at the expense of ART driver SLR Southerner. It was a sense of De Ja Vu at the front as Ham would again stretch his lead following MasonGammon doing his upmost best to maintain his second position from Midzy. Gammon would eventually lose the position in the end after a great fight with further back UKBeast making further progress this time at the expense of Division. Come the line SLR Ham was a Formula 2 winner once more followed by Midzy and the ever improving MasonGammon claiming his first podium of the season. Raceroller, UKBeast, Division, Southerner and the recovering Crispy would all take the places from fourth to eighth in what was a close battle from start to finish. In twelve place SLR Charlie would take his first Evo Class win for the sprint. The Feature! Half the drivers on the grid would opt to start on the hard tyres which for the first few laps would be significantly slower than the soft tyres. Which drivers though could make the alternate strategy work? Lap two Crispy was already yet again finding himself in tenth already in a points scoring position further adding up his incredible overtaking record this season already. Darnell flexed his muscles to show brilliant pace pulling away from UKBeast in second. In third SLR Dodgy was also showing incredible pace keeping within touching distance of UKBeast and keeping SLR Southerner at bay. After all the stops Darnell would further stretch his lead comfortably from UKBeast with SLR Dodgy still in third having being first undercutted by Southerner but the Campos driver would immediately take the place back taking advantage of the ART drivers cold tyres combined with a very smart move. Corey found himself to be a decent winner from the pits as well as Racerolller and SLR Ham who worked the alternate strategy brilliantly. For a couple of laps we were filled with drama as first we saw contact between Corey and Midzy with the latter retiring in the process and Corey again seemingly in the wars where it seemed there may have been contact with Division which sent the DAMS driver into the wall also collecting his teammate Crispy in the process. Disaster for the DAMS pair. Despite all the drama behind it was one of his easier races in Formula 2 as Darnell would dominate the feature race. Raceroller made his strategy work finishing second pipping UKBeast towards the end. SLR Dodgy would brilliantly finish fourth succeeding in keeping Southerner behind and also taking the evo feature win. SLR Corey took his first points in Formula 2 in sixth finishing just ahead of SLR Ham, MasonGammon, SLR Bennett and SLR Cech who took the rest of the points. It appears the standard in Formula 2 has reached another level with drivers such as SLR Dodgy and MasonGammon making steps forward during the off season. The latter already beating his points tally from last season. The drivers now have a week off so you will see us again at Baku where once again we will see why Summit League Racing has the best Formula 2 drivers in the world of E Sports. SLR Marsh vs Crispy2001 Lap 1 - Sprint
Verdict: No Further Action
Marsh takes to a different line to the cars in front going into the corner meaning he then runs deep into the corner opening the door up for Crispy to make the move which then unfortunately means he evidently then runs out of track on exit due to the nature of the corner.
