F2 Round 1 – Las Vegas: What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas

Season 9 begins in Las Vegas for the first time. New challenges, new drivers but the same guy taking another pole position... BRT Griffiths by 9 tenths takes pole position with SLR Medal alongside and BaggieFan on reverse grid pole for the sprint race.

The sprint race it absolutely poured it down which made an already challenging track near impossible for our drivers. With multiple drivers taking the escape roads in the opening corners due to aquaplaning, Baggiefan would see his race disappear Infront of his eyes as he lost the car through the final corner. With Kirito taking the lead on debut. This would later be redundant as BRT Griffiths would slither his way through the field to take the opening race of Season 9 with Kirito picking up damage saw him drop down the field. Benster on return would finish P2 for PHM Racing and the ever-consistent SLR Medal would round out the podium for Trident.

The feature race cleared up the soggy conditions for some spicy racing action with a fantastic opening lap battle between the PHM drivers of SLR Southerner and Benster which saw Benster come out on top. Griffiths cleared off from the rest of the field (shock), Medal in p2 would be in no man's land hoping he could be the one to challenge Griffiths this season. But no one could stop BRT Griffiths taking another victory in SLR F2 and another grand slam as all 39 points available went to the ART Grand Prix driver. Medal for Trident took P2 in the end with Benster rounding out the podium for a historic opening weekend for PHM Racing. BadOtter would take points on his SLR F2 debut with a mega performance finishing 7th.

ART Grand Prix would be your constructors' leaders after a perfect weekend for Griffiths and fantastic points haul for SLR Dodgy. Debutants, PHM Racing would not be far behind after a double podium for Benster on return and SLR Southerner pulling out his usual mega performances when needed the most.

Next time round we return to Portimão on the 15th of February which always provides great action and a round you will not want to miss.

Until then, take care folks.

As you were, CM x

Blogs Team of the round – PHM Racing: It was too good to not include both drivers in this. PHM Racing on their opening weekend in SLR F2 had a weekend to remember with Benster managing P3 in the sprint and Southerner recovering to 5th. The feature saw the two scrap it out in the early stages but managed a 3rd place finish for Benster and 4th for Southerner. A driver pairing to keep an eye on for the constructors' championship this season.

Coupe a Benz vs HuskySaturn

Feature - Lap 1

Verdict: 5 second and 1 LP to HuskySaturn

HuskySaturn simply gets the braking wrong into T1 and hits into the rear end of Benz car.

Coupe a Benz vs Echo

Feature - Lap 1

Verdict: 5 second and 1 LP to Echo

*5s + 1LP turns into 2LP due to DNF

Echo makes a late move on Benz and effectively uses Benz as a brake to make the corner after Benz leaves room.

Coupe a Benz vs Echo

Feature - Lap 3

Verdict: Racing incident

Echo smacks off the pit lane wall and then comes back to near the racing line. Space is left for Benz on the racing line. Through T1 Echo understeers across Benz causing minimal contact but nothing that warrants a penalty.

Warning to echo for erratic driving.

SLR Mash vs PaRa Quickz

Feature - Lap 3

Verdict: 5 second and 1 LP to PaRa Quickz

**5s + 1 LP turns into 2LP due to DNF

PaRa Quickz has minimal wheel spin out a corner and has enough time to sort it out instead he continues to move over to the right making contact with Mash causing him wing damage.
