This week the SLR F2 camp arrived in Austria for round 5 of season 9 after an action-packed round in Barcelona. Qualifying saw BRT Griffiths take a record equalling 19th SLR F2 pole as he looks to take the record next time out. UKBeastAssassin and SLR Southerner rounded out the top 3.
Sprint Race we had one of the debutants on reverse grid pole, that was the Invicta Virtuosi of WheelieBin, I'm sure he was wheelie delighted with that one... (hold your laughs ladies and gents). Wheeliebin had a mega opening few laps extending his lead out in front, but Benster who started at the back was making great progress as well as BRT Griffiths in the ART. Tridents SLR Medal was showing exceptional pace as he took the race lead in the midpoint of the race but with Griffiths and Benster catching, could he hold on? The dream podium debut for WheelieBin was not meant to be, as he was passed by Griffiths and Benster in the later stages of the race but regardless to be fighting at the front of this ultra-competitive field on his first outing was something to be proud of. Benster and Griffiths closed substantially on the final lap, but it was enough to stop SLR Medal taking a 2nd career SLR F2 race victory with a drive for the ages for the trident driver. Griffiths 2nd and Benster rounded out the podium.
Kudos to WheelieBin on his SLR F2 debut who came home 4th place on his opening race, hopefully we get to see the Invicta Virtuosi fighting at the front more often. SLR Southerner made a great recovery after a spin on the opening lap beat UKBeastAssasin to 5th over the line.
The feature race saw Griffiths take off as per (shock) but the race behind him was where it was at. UKBeastAssasin doing a mega job in the opening laps battling against SLR Southerner, but the PHM driver was very much under threat from PaRa Quickz who was showing some great pace after a tough sprint. Southerner would later get the better of the DAMS of PaRa after he found himself with damage a few laps later. Once again Benster was making his way through the field passing car after car and again finding himself in the top 3. SLR Medal was on for a great weekend, but Benster would be his biggest battle to date as those two would be scrapping it out for the final podium positions. After some dirty tactics to put off SLR Southerner which saw him in Mexico with the lines he was taking in the final sector, Beast would finish ahead on penalties. Griffiths would take yet another victory in this dominant season with Benster betting the better of SLR Medal in the end with a great battle between the two.
Next time out SLR F2 heads home as we take the short drive to Northamptonshire around Silverstone. Let’s hope the iconic circuit provides its usual drama.

SLR Southerner warning request removal
Lap 17 - Feature
Verdict: 1 of the 2 warning’s removed and therefore 3 second time pen removed
We’re happy to remove one of the warnings as southerner has made a mistake in lapse of concentration and has left the track only once through the Moto GP section which the game has given him 2 warnings as he’s gone over both parts of track of the chicane.
In this circumstance we can see from clip and race director submitted that it’s a clumsy but genuine mistake and not an attempt of shortening the track.
