Round 9 of the SLR F2 season has kicked off around Silverstone. Where 13 of the 18 drivers taking part have their home race to try and climb to the top step of the podium and win on home soil.
Qualifying kicked off with ZyDRAD achieving his 8th pole position in 9 rounds, but definitely not comfortably. As SLR freeman only finished 0.018 seconds behind him in 2nd followed by championship contender HamJam2002 clocking in a impressive time to get him on the 2nd row. And to think, this wasn't even the closest Quali this season really goes to show the quality on show.
Also, DAMS pulled in a great team effort led by Xx JamHam xX and SillyBunny47711 to line up on the 3rd row together hoping to bring the fight to carlin in the constructors.
Feature race saw Xx JamHam xX pull off a mighty undercut to slip in between both the front runners (ZyDRAD and HamJam2002 at the time) to provide a brilliant watch for stream as the three drivers fight for that 1st place. This later turned into Xx JamHam xX taking the lead off ZyDRAD who seemed to struggle on the second stint. Xx JamHam xX crossed the line P1, However, Corner cutting penalties proved to be the differentiator as ZyDRAD took the win after all drivers crossed the line. With Xx JamHam xX taking 2nd and then SLR McKeon rising up from 7th to take that final Podium spot.
Some noticeable points from the race saw SLR Darnell rise to 8th from 16th after he invalidated his Qualifying lap. Giving him Reverse grid Pole for the sprint race. Definitely one to look out for.
Then finally the Sprint race. The Darnell brothers (SLR Darnell and zZSouthernerzZ) lined up perfectly for a 1 2 to start. And it almost stayed the same. A charge from HamJam2002 meant that he rose up to 2nd to split the two brothers but it is SLR Darnell who takes his maiden SLR Victory with a brilliant display of consistency and poise to bring it home after pressure from the rest of the top 8 all wanting those crucial 15 points for the championship. zZSouthernerzZ takes another podium to his collection as he takes the final podium spot making it a Darnell Double Podium. Also to add, JH199 Showed brilliant, last ditch pace in the sprint to get 7th place after starting the sprint race 13th. Superb stuff from the Campos Driver.
