The second half of the SLR F2 season was upon us and what a venue to come to. Circuit de spa Francorchamps, a track that has provided SLR F2 box office in seasons gone by and my god did it provide again. Qualifying had it all, a lobby restart, pouring conditions and BRT Griffiths NOT Breaking the SLR F2 pole record (insert dog gif) because for the second week running PHM Racing’s Benster would take pole position with a sensational lap!
Sprint race would have Van Amsersfoort Racing’s OwenHowell on reverse grid pole and as i said and quote on stream “VAR 1st and 4th on the grid could be on for good points” Well SLR Corey little did you know what was about to occur.... BaggieFan jumps the start about 5 business days too early. Chaos would take place in the following laps with SLR Bennett unable to navigate the bus stop chicane and give Benster a more than light tap.... he would then find the barriers not to long after. Safety car would neutralize the race with DAMS leading a 1-2 with Para Quickz leading F1ABQW3RTYYY. They got back underway with the tricky conditions still coming down, Benster was making his way through the field but had a very quick BRT Griffiths as always on his tail. Coupe a Benz was constantly pressuring Para for the lead but with this would allow the cars behind to catch and in the closing laps a 5-car battle for the win was on. Moley and I speechless on comms with the action we were seeing but, in the end, BRT Griffiths would take a great sprint race victory with SLR Medal for Trident just coming out second best and Benster rounding out the podium, Para and Benz would conclude the top 5 after they tried all their might to hold onto a podium.
The sun came out for the feature race and Benster who has been on top form as of recent was looking to take a first feature race victory of the season. The opening laps were a dream for the PHM, pulling the DRS of BRT Griffiths in no time. SLR Medal driving brilliantly again would join the battle for the win giving us some fantastic action. A safety car would bring the field back together again allowing some great action for us watching at home. Medal pressurised Griffiths heavily on the restart but couldn’t get past the ART, meanwhile Benster was driving like a champion, holding off BRT Griffiths with some mega defensive driving and once again managing to pull DRS. Benster would cross the line to start what could be a mega championship comeback, SLR Medal would conclude one of his best weekends in SLR F2 and BRT Griffiths with a late penalty would round out the podium.
A weekend that won’t be forgotten for a long time in SLR F2, a poor one for our championship leader by his standards and a new challenger has entered the building. PHM Racing now take the lead at the top of the SLR F2 constructors' standings after a great weekend for their driver pair and are really taking it all the way with ART.
What will SLR F2 provide next? Well, make sure to join us Thursday night as we head to Monza! Not one you will want to miss.
Until then, have a fantastic week all!
As you were, CM x
Blogs driver of the round: Benster – A crucial weekend for Benster and SLR F2 in general. Back-to-back pole positions, P3 in the sprint and the feature race victory saw Benster take the top points from SPA as he narrowly closes the championship lead. It’s a big gap to close, but we’ve seen it happen before.

Sprint Race
SLR Southerner vs PaRa Quickz
Lap 1 - Sprint
Verdict: 5 second and 1 LP to PaRa Quickz
Para Quickz moves onto another line from the start thinking he has cleared SLR Southerner car but he hasn’t and hits SLR Southerner.
Benster vs SLR Bennett
Lap 1 - Sprint
Verdict: 20 second and 4 LP as DNF converts into a Race Ban
Absolutely horrendous rejoining at a straight line after going off at the final chicane hitting into Benster car and causing a knock on effect to multiple cars behind.
BadOtterTV vs GRL Atom
Lap 1 - Sprint
Verdict: NFA
GRL Atom takes good avoiding action from the aftermath of the incident above and unfortunately gets spun out of BadOtterTv car who if anything should have shown more awareness to the incident and Atom to the right of him.
SLR Bennett
Lap 2 - Sprint
Verdict: Intentional DNF Race ban and 5 LP
Bennett goes into eau rouge with no endplates with so much speed brakes heavily and then accelerated again to full then off the pedal fully making a final movement left to the wall. We as stewards deem this to be intentional.
SLR Southerner vs BadOtterTV
Lap 9 - Sprint
Verdict: NFA
This is 2 cars moving onto 1 line and unfortunately the contact system takes them both to the wall.

Huskysaturn incident involving BaggieFan 1995 and UKBeastAssassin
Lap 10 - Feature
Verdict: 10 second and 2 LP to HuskySaturn
We do not believe this incident to be intentional just a massive misjudgment of braking at the final chicane causing a collision and hitting into 2 cars exiting the chicane. We as stewards believe the 10 second and 2 LP is sufficient for this incident.
WARNINGS
6 LP reached so official warning to SLR Bennett
9 LP reached so Qualifying Ban to SLR Bennett - this will have to be served after the 2 race bans accumulated in this round.
