Canada

First of all i wanna say RIP Murry Walker, never forget the legendary man and now lets begin with the report.

Welcome back to another race report for Elite! This past Sunday, the fastest drivers in SLR raced in Canada, a short yet very demanding track for most, and one small mistake could ruin your race. Was HamJam2002 able to repeat victory from Azerbaijan and Canada last season? Let’s find out! After missing out on pole by less than 2 hundreds of a second, ABR Freeman took his second win in 3 races! Having opted for the mediums, this proved to work out brilliantly for the American, and after passing pole man Jam on lap 4, he led and controlled the race from there on. HamJam2002 was unable to repeat his dominating Baku drive and settled in 2nd after having a slightly disappointing quali. Yet again, raceroller22 took his 2nd podium in “tree” races, and added to the streak of standing on the podium every race Freeman has taken victory. Xx JamHam xX was unable to convert pole to victory, settling for 4th in the end. A brilliant drive from bezzas1 saw the Racing Point driver leap from 17th to 5th with no penalties and deserved driver of the day. Gho3t C0LT brought the other Mclaren home in 6th after having to double stack under the lap 7 Safety Car, while UKBeastAssassin somehow managed 28 laps on Mediums to take P7. Midzy15 recovered from last to 8th after being unable to complete a valid lap in Q1, with SLR Rando and ZyDRAD behind in 9th and 10th respectively.

Reserve driver PaRa Quickz came home for a respectable 11th, while a late mistake from the other American on the grid saw Hoopolicious fall from a podium position to 12th. Crispy2001 fell to 13th from his starting position of 11th, MeRkz47 remained in the same spot he qualified in, 14th, with LP Smoke, Flembog, SLR Southerner, and KevinGT9389 rounding out our finishers. Our non-finishers were I VR46 I and SLR Niki, with Niki crashing and retiring due to equipment failure. Be sure to tune in next week for France, a track I think is safe to say: boring. Will Midzy be able to repeat victory? Make sure you tune in! Be safe and be well.

Merkz vs Flembog - No Further Action.

We as stewards feel the move was imminent from Flembog and was on. Merkz was not prepared and continued to turn in causing him to loose position and then further positions.

Smoke vs VR46 - No further action.

We as stewards believe that although smoke may have been distracted by VR46, VR46 has not impeded smokes lap as he prepared for his own.

SLR Niki vs VR46 - Qualifying Block; 2LP

We believe VR46 has not been aware of drivers on track and has casually rolled across track impeding SLR Niki who has just started a lap.

Kevingt9389 vs flembog 1. - Racing incident.

With evidence from the clip it shows 3 drivers going into t1 alongside and no driver backs off. This being flembog has no where to go unfortunately resulting in kevingt9389 being left off track.

SLR lands in North America for the first time this season as the drivers land in Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix and Round 9 of the Championship. Qualifying would see a cagey affair as it was a matter of how close would drivers dare get with the wall, to how much of the kerbs will be exploited to squeeze the milliseconds out of their times, a track shaped by small straights and hard braking zones and chicanes, it was a short, but very punishing circuit.

Brindyboi67 would continue his Baku domination with a very convincing 1:07:768 to claim back to back pole positions after edging out SLR Dylan, who was +0.242 behind and CechThisOut in the Ferrari in P3. There would be a notable shout for ERN Massey who qualified a stellar P5 on their first SLR Race and in decent position for a points haul at a track that overtaking takes a bit more skill

The race start was clean, but very close quarters for some, as SLR Dylan had CechThisOut looking to get P2 very early days, while Bennett628 once again showing excellent reactions to the lights with a +2 off the start into P5

Everybody quickly filtered into single file with some battles forming here or there, but the first sense of yellow came from reserve driver Carlin who made a mistake through Turn 2 on Lap 2 and found himself at the back of the grid after a quiet, but progressive start. Another driver that was making inroads was SLR Semm who was looking to try make up for a challenging qualifying session, already up to P15 from the back after 5laps

JH199 made a clean move up the inside of ERN Massey at the final chicane on Lap6, a move quickly repeated by SLR McKeon on the following lap as Massey found himself slopping backward after carrying some damage, and SLR Liam was the first driver to pull the trigger and try and go for an undercut at a circuit that mostly favours a 2stop strategy.

The domino effect would inevitably be enabled as drivers would follow suit and avoid being exposed with a poor strategy call and this would mix up the order for a brief part, and strategy wouldn't change all that much at the front as the top 3 in Quali had a comfortable pace advantage in the race, and they battled out front

What was on everyone's mind at the mid point was the rain, rain was a looming threat, but was it a matter of when? Or if? The skies would go from the bright blue to a gloomy grey as the race hit it's half distance

SLR Ranga was in reserving and found himself embroiled in a battle with JH199 that soon took a sour turn as contact would be made and the Haas reserve would lose out on position after hard fought battling with the Red Bull driver.

The rain would hit on lap24 as the drivers would swoop in for intermediates, but Bennett628 would make a crucial error in tyre selection and while the grid would come in for the green walled intermediate, Alfa Romeo would send the driver out on a set of Hard tyres, completely throwing away all the work and having to skate around the twisty Montreal circuit in challenging and deteriorating conditions.

As the rain lashed down, there was the battle for P5 as SLR McKeon had Riggsey-x and SLR Semm clipping at his heels, a battle for P8 as Sotierclock110 had Legendarydannyd and Gooner waiting in the wings, and the battle for P12, with SLR Connor, Bennett628 and JH199

The race was all but done in the midfield, but at the front, it was a different story to be told as Brindyboi67 would pick up where he left of, with a dominating style of driving and a healthy win making it back to back pole positions and wins at Baku and Canada, with the hattrick being a real possibility as he is the driver in hot form, with CechThisOut getting back to back P2 and SLR Dylan getting the final podium place and SLR Semm would get the DOTD for his drive through the field to a respectable P7

SLR ranga vs JH199

OUTCOME:Racing incident

The stewards believe that the incident that occurs is as a result of hard racing, however no one driver is at fault. Ranga could have used the space on the left of his car as he is almost forcing JH off the track on the right hand side, whilst JH could have moved less to the left (despite their being very limited movement). As a result of this the Stewards feel as though the incident is a racing incident, with no clear fault by either driver, and it is ultimately unlucky.

SLR Vandoorne vs SLR Semm

OUTCOME:No further action

It is unlucky however Semm is not at fault, as he just has a poor exit rather than driving irresponsibly.

SLR Vandoorne vs I Carlin I

OUTCOME:No further action

I Carlin I spins in front of Vandoorne however it is an a case of wrong place wrong time with Carlin not being responsible.

After a tough few weeks at some gruelling tracks, it was time to extend that pain as we headed to Canada in Division 2. Pole was up for question yet again after some surprise early eliminations and a mixed weather Q2 really throwing the order around. In the end rockamad73 took pole number 4 of the season ahead of OwenHowell36 who made it onto the front row for the 3rd consecutive weekend.

The latter took the lead around turn 2 and took a hold in the early stages and looked like he could’ve made it 3 wins from 3, leading until the first safety car. That lead would then extend after rockamad73’s Crash on the restart making a little separation in the field. The leader would continue until his first stop, where SLR Panther would take the lead and attempt an overcut. The former then was involved in a plethora of incidents causing his race to derail, whilst SLR Panther’s overcut didn’t go exactly to plan and had to make a few more overtakes, the last of which being on his own teammate SLR FemPest who was on another strategy.

It would be the Irishman who took the win for the first time this season in a great drive and was awarded Driver of the Day. craigfk came home P2 to close the championship lead to SLR FemPest who finished P4, whilst ZachIsBeast25 finished P3 for the 4th week in a row!

SLR Scopez vs SC restart

Outcome: No Further Action.

Reason: The driver who reported the incident was unaffected by said incident, and the evidence submitted was insufficient to determine what had happened and who was at fault for the collisions caused on the SC restart.

J Lee Menz & OwenHowell36 vs Sphh (spinning another car - lap 14)

Outcome: 15s + 3LP awarded to Sphh.

Reason: J Lee Menz makes a fair move on Sphh on the back straight, and rightly moves back onto the racing line to take the final chicane. Sphh then clearly makes contact with J Lee Menz, sending him spinning across the track. The stewards concluded that the damage sustained by Owen was not the fault of Sphh, and rather more down to said driver getting unnecessarily caught up in the incident by trying to take most of the chicane at full speed despite a car spinning across the track in front of him.

OwenHowell36 vs Sphh - Spinning another car (lap 14).

Outcome: Racing Incident

Reason: The evidence submitted was enough for the stewards to determine that OwenHowell36 did not leave enough room on the apex of the corner - despite being half a car length in front of Sphh. The aggressively raised kerbing on the apex of the turn means that Sphh’s car had no reasonable chance of making the corner when being left with about 6 inches of track inside of the white lines on the apex, duly sending his car into Owen and spinning him around.

OwenHowell36 vs Cal M Smith - Causing wing damage (lap 22)

Outcome: Racing Incident

Reason: Cal M Smith loses his car midway through the chicane, leading to instability on exit. Instead of Owen being patient and waiting for the unstable Ferrari to succumb to their own incident, the stewards felt that he simply drove into the rear of the car while attempting to pass while also not losing out on time to other drivers further ahead. This caused both himself and Cal to sustain wing damage from the incident. The stewards felt Owen couldn’t be punished for this incident as Cal was already going into the wall after losing his rear end on the exit of T4. The contact made just helped it to happen faster.

Cal M Smith vs DrastikBlaze - causing a spin (lap 21).

Outcome: 5s 1LP awarded to DrastikBlaze.

Reason: The stewards recognise that while Cal took a bit of a dive into the T6/7 chicane, he was more than alongside at corner entry. Blaze then turns across Cal resulting in a half spin for the Ferrari driver. In this case there is a reduced penalty to reflect the no damage & the negligible time lost by Cal M Smith.

Cal M Smith vs SLR Fempest - Squeezing (Lap 12)

Outcome: Warning to SLR Fempest

Reasoning: despite Cal’s intentions of coming into the pit lane, he sensibly brakes at the normal braking point to avoid running into the back of SLR Fempest unnecessarily. Despite this, Fempest then does move marginally into the braking zone, forcing Cal onto the grass marginally as part of his front wing was still alongside Fempest’s back wheel. The stewards felt a warning was sufficient in this case to remind Fempest about his conduct when overtaking another driver.

SLR Fempest vs SLR Kiara - major wing damage (lap 2)

Outcome: 15s + 3LP awarded to SLR Kiara (3LP + Quali Ban due to DNF)

Reason: In the evidence submitted, Kiara was shown to go for an ambitious move into the T6/7 chicane. The difference between this move and Cal’s is that it becomes obvious that the RP is not alongside enough going into the corner as the contact made really unsettled Fempest’s car, and sends him into the barrier, giving him major wing damage as a result.

Cal M Smith vs SLR Scopez - Squeezing (lap 8)

Outcome: No Further Action.

Reason: Cal and Scopez go side by side on the exit of the T8/9 chicane, and Scopez leaves just enough room on the outside of the track. A Minor adjustment from Cal means his front and Scopez’s rear tyres connect, sending Scopez across into Cal’s path momentarily before both cars straighten up, and they continue as normal towards the hairpin.

DrastikBlaze vs SLR Teddy - Illegal overtake (lap 6)

Outcome: Racing Incident

Reason: It is worth noting that Teddy is marginally ahead going into the apex of T8 as he attempts to make the move. Blaze’s defence of his position into the T8/9 chicane sees his car run wide onto the left hander, leaving Teddy no reasonable room to make the remainder of the corner given the placement and the trajectory of the Williams. Teddy does what is sensible and uses the run-off area to avoid making contact and causing an incident with Blaze’s car. The time gain from this is exacerbated by the fact that Blaze’s car becomes unstable mid corner, meaning he loses time on the exit of T9. The reality is that Teddy’s track extension was 1) to avoid a potential collision. 2) also he gained negligible amounts of time by doing so, but also received a track extension warning at the time, which is the most he can be expected to be penalised in such a situation.

Extra Stewards Notes

Cal M Smith vs Rockamad - Qualifying Block.

NOT REVIEWED

Reason: All stewards are here voluntarily, and take time out of their days/weeks to ensure a clean and safe racing environment for all drivers. Sending in clips of incidents like this where the claimant is on an outlap, shows a complete lack of respect towards the stewards’ time taken to review and discuss such an incident.

Drivers are reminded that in future, to review clips themselves to determine whether it is really worth sending in to be investigated, in order to avoid wasting stewards’ time.

Race 9 in division 3 certainly didn’t disappoint with plenty of action throughout in another wet race. It was SLR J3st3r in the Renault that took pole position with SLR Dodgy in the Alfa Romeo starting P2. SLR Hyperz in the other Renault took P3 on the grid with Lofty4794 in the Haas making up the second row. The race started dry with the top 3 starting on the medium tyre as SLR Dodgy tried to make a move into P1 round turns 1 and 2 but SLR J3st3r held firm. Into T7 and Lofty4794 made an audacious move into the lead up the inside but missed his breaking point and took SLR J3st3r off the track handing the race lead to SLR Dodgy on lap 1. By the end of lap 1 slight rain started to fall but wasn’t enough to move onto wet tyres as the drivers maintained their slick tyres. By lap 3 Aflyinglemon318 in the Racing Point made a very early pitstop and chanced intermediate tyres but the track simply was not yet wet enough. By lap 5 there was a VSC as Scott85laney in the Redbull smashed his front wing off into the wall then could not slow down in time for the hairpin crashing into the back of SLR Colden. Lap 10 and SLR Dodgy had pulled out a 6s lead and decided to pit first for intermediates and SLR J3st3r stayed out an extra lap to take P1 as SLR Dodgy re-joined in P2.

SLR J3st3r then came in the following lap for intermediate tyres as SLR Dodgy retook the race lead with SLR J3st3r re-joining in P2 as a full safety car was called as SLR Russell in the Ferrari and Aflyinglemon318 were involved in a massive smash on the back straight. The race restarted lap 16 as SLR Dodgy lead with SLR J3st3r in P2 and SLR St2oh in the Alpha Tauri in P3. Lap 19 then brough carnage as UK Demonz in the Haas came together with SLR Dolphin in the Alpha Tauri on the back straight. This caused terminal damage to UK Demonz as SLR Colden took the brunt of a car coming back across the track. This brought the second safety car of the race. SLR J3st3r and SLR St20h took advantage of the safety car to change tyres as SLR Dodgy opted to stay out on 10 lap old intermediates. This brought the Williams pairing of SLR Gareth and GrumpyOrange into P2 and P3 respectively. Lap 22 and the race restarted again and SLR dodgy pulled out a quick lead of over 1 second over SLR Gareth. By the end of Lap 23 GrumpyOrange took a spin at the final chicane and lost positions down to P15 pushing DaredPaul1986 in the Redbull into P3. Lap 26 and SLR J3st3r made his way back up to P3 as he overtook DaredPaul1986 on the back straight as SLR Dodgy had opened a 3s lead.

On lap 30 SLR Dodgy then pitted for fresh intermediates handing SLR Gareth P1, SLR J3st3r P2 and SLR St2oh P3 as SLR Dodgy returned in P6 at T2 behind the 2 Mclarens of I21I Maxwell and SLR Stevooo. Lap 31 and the rain had stopped, and the track was beginning to dry as SLR Dodgy made a move on SLR Stevoo at the final chicane to take P5. Lap 32 and SLR J3st3r took a spin at the exit of T2 pushing SLR St2oh int P2 and I21I Maxwell into P3 with less than 4 laps remaining. With the track getting dry SLR Gareth and SLR St2oh made a move onto softs at the end of lap 33 as I21I Maxwell, SLR Dodgy, SLR Stevoo and SLR C0w3n stayed out on intermediates to form a new top 4. SLR Dodgy then made a move for P1 over I21I Maxwell ahead of T1 on lap 34 to lead the race as SLR Gareth came back out in P5 on the soft tyres. In the final 2 laps of the race SLR Gareth made his way back into P2 but by the time the chequered flag came it was SLR Dodgy who took P1 with teammate SLR C0w3n taking P2 and I21I Maxwell P3. SLR Gareth took P4, Scott85laney P5, SLR St2oh P6, SLR Nealix P7, SLR Stevooo P8, SLR Dolph1n P9 and SLR Colden made up the top 10.

Incident - Russell vs Lemon

Outcome - 30s 5 LP (changed to qualifying ban and 5LP due to DNF)

Reason - Lemon spins and rejoins the track with no regard for Russell’s car which gives Russell terminal damage, hence the severity of the penalty.

Incident - Dolphin vs Dared Paul

Outcome - Racing Incident

Reason - Dared Paul is alongside Dolphin who then moves his car over to the left even though there is space to the right of him even with him lapping another car. In the stewards view, contact is made due to dolphin being so far over as mentioned. No penalty is given to Dolphin as Dared Paul is unaffected.

Incident - GrumpyOrange vs Lemon

Outcome - 3LP to Lemon

Reason - Lemon has several opportunities to get out the way but decides to stop on the racing line. This clearly compromises GrumpyOranges lap.
