Appeals Report: Canada

Incident involving Sparks and EVVO - Sparks appealing the stewards decision.

Original decision: 5 second time penalty and 1 licence point

Outcome: Appeal Denied

The stewards believe that be it tyre wear, track conditions or attempting to help his teammate out there is firstly, no rule against holding another driver up for the benefit of one’s teammate and secondly we don’t believe that EVVO was driving slowly or erratically enough to push the blame onto him for this incident. Overall Sparks could have waited and got the move done later and while he may have been caught out by the difference in speed between himself and EVVO the incident was still caused by him going for an extremely late move, pushing EVVO off track causing him to receive an illegal overtake penalty and thus the original decision stands.
