All of the Lights - Singapore

McKeon

Round 14 of the SLR McKeon championship is at Marina Bay, Singapore. One of the toughest tracks on the calendar, the walls always close and to go fastest here, you need to get as close to the wall as possible. With Snypz currently holding a 48 point gap at the top of the drivers, he definitely has a nice lead at the top so will he be able to extend the gap today or will someone bring a challenge to Snypz? Let’s find out.

Qualifying was a dry one but with rain on the way in the race, people had to make some compromises in order to do well in the wet for the race, but after all 18 minutes of action, it would SLR Corey to take pole position! Another pole position for Corey this season extremely fast at every track and is almost expected now for him to have the fastest time at the end of the qualifying. Second place in the end was raceroller22. A driver who has had his fair share of bad luck recently, and this result will be surely welcome to Roller and hopefully for him finally a first point in a long while. Rounding off the top 3 was Snypz SB, a track that he must find tricky being on Pad, a good lap from the Leader of the Driver’s championship, and with him only being two places behind his nearest title challenger, this will be a decent start for him to try and keep the gap he has at the top.

The race as I said previously, was Dry to Wet making it very difficult for all the drivers to get their rhythm at one of the hardest tracks to do so, making the racing very very interesting to watch with many looking to make the right moves. But after all 33 laps, it would be raceroller22 to take the Race win! His first win this season, and remarkably his first points for 5 races, really shows the change of fortune he’s had here. A great race from him and winning the race due to a penalty given to SLR Corey, only further shows Roller’s change of fortune. Second place in the end was SLR Corey. He did win on track but lost it due to a penalty from the stewards which is unfortunate for him but he does still get P2 which I’m sure with Snypz down in P13 in the end, helps him cut down the gap big time, meaning we could have a fight now on our hands again. Rounding off the podium was Blond5828. The occasional reserve comes back at a track he loves and shows it, a strong race from him, and with Japan up next to another track he likes maybe we’ll see him back.

A fantastic race with the conditions varying across the race distance, really made all the drivers think about what the right call was to make and some really made some gains out of it. Next up for the SLR McKeon division is Suzuka, Japan. A fantastic fast sweeping track with many corners that are hard to master but always a good watch with the cars looking fantastic as they stream around the 5.8km track, but then I hope everyone has a great week!

Incident 1 | SLR Corey - Lap 12 - Pit lane infringement

Outcome: 3s Time Penalty + 1LP to SLR Corey

Reason: Can be seen clearly going into the pit entry and then crossing over the white line to rejoin the track

Incident 2 | Kiki vs SLR Jam - Lap 12 - Causing A Collision

Outcome: 5s Time Penalty + 2LPs to SLR Jam | 1 Race Ban + 4LPs to Kiki

Reason: Although the door was open for SLR Jam to go for the overtake we feel he wasn't far enough along and thus ends up pushing Kiki into the wall causing damage | For the Kiki penalty just plain stupidity after contact with SLR Jam you can clearly see that he tries to put Jam into the wall trying to end his race with intent and we do not accept this in any race no matter what happens on track and therefore we have decided to hand out this race ban

Incident 3 | Kiki vs SLR Jam - Lap 12 - Causing A Collision

Outcome: NFA

Reason: Kiki goes off track at turn 2 and tries to come back on track onto the racing line disregarding SLR Jam to his left its down to Kiki to Re-enter the track in a safe manner and the two end up making contact and get tangled which sends them both out wide and with Kiki being on the outside was the unfortunate one to hit the wall.

Incident 4 | SimbaRocksONE vs SLR Corey - Lap 15 - Causing A Collision Under Safety Car

Outcome: NFA

Reason: SLR Corey was just following the pace of the safety car and it was down to Simba to follow but not too closely around slow and tight corners

Incident 5 | SLR Medal - Lap 22 - Pit Lane Infringement

Outcome: 3s Time Penalty + 1LP to SLR Medal

Reason: Not one of medals brightest moments as for once has too much speed and completely out brakes himself and goes over the pit entry kerb and then for some reason thought ill just cut it again and goes back over the kerb and back into the pit entry completely disregarding the white lines which makes sense due to his track limits pens every week.

Incident 6 | Snypz vs Andres - Lap 30 - Divebombing

Outccme: 10s Time Penalty + 2LPs to Andres

Reason: Clear divebomb into a tight corner was never going to work out at all.

Incident 7 | Snypz vs Andres - Lap 31 - Dangerous Driving

Outcome: 15s Time Penalty + 3LPs to Andres

Reason: The weaving was not only dangerous but also caused snypz to lose it’s position. Could have ended up with 3 drivers having a DNF on the final lap.

Division 2

Ladies and Gentlecars, welcome to the Division 2 Singapore Grand Prix! After a hectic one last time out in Monza, we could only anticipate how much more escalated the carnage would be with the addition of the tightly placed walls of Marina Bay…

A lot of people were calling for the promotion of reserve driver Gorzi after he impressed in his opening rounds since joining, and he proved his point even further this week, setting a pole time of 1:28.250 – almost a whole second quicker than second placed qualifier SLR Liamm! The remainder of the grid was pretty tightly packed with times, other than LSW L3G3ND44 who failed to set a lap time – TCP Coutinho 10 crashed before setting a time, so he was also at the back. Meanwhile, Active JMC would re-serve his quali ban from last week and still managed to steal the show after doing some doughnuts on the start finish straight. Only if he had an experienced SLR driver serving one with him to show him how to serve one properly… oh wait, he did! Former championship leader UKBeastAssassin also had to serve a qualifying ban this week, so we ended up with 4 drivers with no times this week, with plenty of work needed to be done in the race.

So we head into the race and Gorzi got off to a perfect start, comfortably ahead and he shot away down the road. A relatively clean first sector, however it didn’t last long as Active JMC missed his braking point at the hairpin just after the Anderson Bridge and he sent GoldenEggFryer into a spin, and then shortly after TCP Coutinho was seen facing the wrong way at the following corner. So after lap 1 Gorzi was 1.5 seconds clear, with the rest of the grid all aboard the SLR Liamm train from P2 downwards to LSW L3G3ND44 in 17th. Then 1 lap later, we headed onto Lap 3 and Gorzi was now 3 seconds clear!

Speaking of Lap 3, Championship leader FRL Kirito fancied his chances on SLR Liamm and his P2, and tried it round the outside of turn 7 just after the DRS straight. However, Liamm would fend him off, and Kirito would then drop to P4 as the Ultimate Opportunist move from F1ABQW3RTYYY saw him tuck into the smallest of gaps and went round the outside of the following corner! Shortly after, we would be in Virtual Safety Car conditions, as LSW L3G3ND44 span in Sector 2 and caused a fair bit of debris to scatter around the track just before the Anderson Bridge. He was still in the race however, so into the pits he came.

We got the restart underway at an awkward point in the track and F1ABQW3RTYYY had a blistering exit out of Turn 5, meaning he was able to make easy pickings of SLR Liamm and he was up to P2. Meanwhile SLR Mash went just a little bit too quickly, and he was punished with a Drive Through Penalty. Just ahead of him, Simon37M did his best Qwerty impression as he was already ahead of former teammate OwenHowell36 before DRS could be opened! He would not be ahead for long however, as he got too tail happy out of Turn 14 and he spun into the barriers and he was out! This also meant we had our first safety car of the day!

This did change a few strategies, with race leader Gorzi pitting for Mediums, as well as 6 other drivers, including PxrpHaze 44 who was sitting nicely in P5 when the Safety Car came out. So this meant F1ABW3RTYYY would lead the way on the restart, ahead of SLR Liamm, FRL Kirito and OwenHowell36, with Gorzi leading the newly pitted runners in P9.

We got back underway on Lap 8 and there wasn’t a lot of moving, the main movers were the likes of Gorzi, Haze and Ski Fee who on new Mediums were slowly making their way through the pack, well more rather quickly in the case of Gorzi. So much so that he was already in P7 come the end of the lap, and then was in P5 by the time we got into Sector 2! He was certainly capitalizing on the tyre advantage on those who were still on hards, as he was into the podium positions by the end of Lap 10, albeit with a 3 second penalty.

Gorzi would get into P2 past Liamm not long after, and he was being followed by OwenHowell36, who was now in the podium just behind Gorzi who was now catching on the race leader. And then on Lap 12 Gorzi was back in the lead and he began to increase his advantage instantly. The SLR Liamm train would then continue as the top 3 pulled away, with the medium runners making their way through the train one by one.

There were some great scraps down the field, but shortly it was time for the pit stops, first being FRL Kirito who was in P9 before pitting early on Lap 15. On Lap 17 Haze finally got past Liamm, however in doing so she quickly lost out to Ski Fee. He would chase down Owen who had damage, however he would never get there as Owen pit just before he caught him, and was followed in by Haze. Liam meanwhile was dropping down the order as on Lap 17 alone he fell from P4 to P9, and he was also in the pit come the end of Lap 17.

Ski Fee would pit a few laps later and would overcut Owen after the latter changed his wing, what you’d assume would be for a net podium position. However he’d shortly realise work would need to be done on his new mediums as Kirito and Active JMC had undercut him! He got to work quickly with OwenHowell36 just behind, however shortly they would be under pressure from both SotierClock110 and UKBeastAssassin who had pitted later for fresh softs!

Come the end of the race the heat was ramping up in battles all over the place, and Gorzi decided he wanted to add some fuel to the fire, as he pitted for a fresh set of softs under VSC, putting him in P2 with just 3 laps left and a 6 second gap, with the 3 second penalty!

Meanwhile we had a huge battle for positions 3-7 as Ski Fee and Owen had caught up and passed Kirito, and the Ferrari was being caught by both Clock and Beast. Clock would make one of the sexiest passes you’ll ever see in the final sector of Lap 29 and he set off to try and get Owen, and shortly after Gorzi made his way into P1 with a single lap to gain 3 seconds.

Unsurprisingly he did just that, and while that was happening on the final lap Beast was now past Kirito and was within Clock’s 5 second penalty window after he sped into the pits earlier. His target would become P4, as he was teetering on the edge of Owen’s 3 second penalty window.

Gorzi would take the win by 1.8 seconds after his penalty to round off a race of domination, with F1ABQW3RTYYY winning Div 2.5 shortly behind after a really good race. Ski Fee would round off the podium, followed by Beast, who pipped Owen by 0.026 seconds, and the latter will tell you he lifted on purpose to that Beast can have more points in his challenge of the championship.

Well done to all this week and we’ll see you next week as we head to Suzuka for the Japanese Grand Prix!

JMC Failure to serve Quali Ban correctly - 1LP

We felt as though whilst this was an improvement JMC’s last attempt to serve his QB as he went out at the start of the session and did not effect any cars on a flying lap. However, the doughnuts in the middle of the straight were dangerous and unnecessary and so 1LP has been awarded.

JMC Vs Kislesko - 5s and 1LP to Active JMC for a ‘push to pass’ overtake.

The move from JMC is late and from 2 cars back. He pushes Kislesko out of the way in order to complete the overtake.

JMC Vs Fryer - 5s and 1LP to Active JMC for causing a collision.

The contact initiated by JMC causes Fryer to half-spin, and lose a few places.

Qualifying ban to Active JMC for accumulating over 9LP. The driver currently stands on 11LP, and with 1 more Licence Point he will serve a Race Ban.

Baggiefan 1995 vs ChicknRosery Causing a collision - Lap 21

Outcome: 10 seconds +3LP to ChicknRosery

Here we think that ChicknRosery has no regard for Baggie being there at all and swipes into him giving Baggie major damage, so we feel the penalty has to be a harsh one.
