Albert Park

McKeon

With 3 rounds left to go in the S7 championship, the grid head down under for the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, and its still all to play for

It was Midzy15 once again on pole position at Albert Park, setting a 1:20.590, which was just under a tenth quicker than the Ferrari of Mr Ogween, and almost two tenths clear of SLR Corey in the McLaren, who would start P3

Midzy15 would get the better launch, but crucially, for his own championship aspirations, Raceroller would get a good launch off P4 and up to P2 on the rundown to Turn 3, trying to make the positions as early as he could, and done all he needed to off the start. Mr Ogween bogged down and was under threat by Corey and Roller, which would then see the Ferrari spinning back across the track and rejoining at the back of the queue the top 2 would already begin pulling away from SLR Corey, with Midzy15 and Raceroller looking quick early on and possibly using more of their battery to get the grid out of their DRS early on

There would be early spins for Stenner22222, SLR Niki, and ETE Crowding, who all had 3 separate incidents and spins, but were able to continue

Raceroller22 would be underneath the rear wing of the Williams by lap5 as both would still be lapping quicker than Corey in P3, who was leading his own train behind, running all the way down to SLR Griffiths in P9 in the Red Bull.

Stenner would have another incident, this time at T2 and would lead to his retirement on Lap 6, and brought out the Safety Car, which would eliminate the possibility of strategy changing the race, as we would see the majority of the field pit for mediums. The active pitlane let the Alpine of Riggs through to lead the grid under the caution, with V2 x Combat and SLR Ham, to make up the top 3. All three started on the mediums Riggs would lead the field away, but would have V2 timing his restart perfectly, as the Ferrari was right on the gearbox of the Alpine, and looked round the outside of T3, but Riggs on the inside, closed the door on exit, and the Ferrari would go slightly wide, but would maintain position in P2

With the whole grid in the same train, it would be hard to make any significant gains for those who had pitted, as Riggs would maintain the lead for a few laps yet, but with overtaking opportunities limited, it looked to be a matter of patience and waiting for something to arise

SLR Ham would get a run on V2 off the exit of the fast left right chicane, looking for a move on the outside, but V2 would maintain his ground and keep the main line through the final sector, and began focusing on chasing the lead of this race

V2 would get a look at Riggs once again, this time down the inside of T3 on Lap14. The Ferrari would have the main line under braking, but the Alpine shaped up the switch back, looking to go round the outside of T4, but slight contact led V2 into a spin, which collected SLR Ham and chaos ensued behind.Later on the same lap, Bezzas would have a spin off the exit of the chicane in S3, which would then lead to his retirement later on the same lap in the pitlane

With Riggs on older softs, he would become a sitting duck for those behind, and on a different strategy, would fall like a stone until an off track excursion at T8, and some slight contact on his re-entry, put him into the wall and into an earlier stop than planned

By lap 18, the status quo would be restored as Midzy15 and Raceroller would once again be back at the front in a class of their own, chasing the title, but by the end of the lap, SLR Ham would have an incident off the exit of T5 which would bring the Safety Car back out at the worst possible time, as the leaders would just drive past the pit entry. This would mean everybody from P5 down to pit onto fresh soft tyres for the final laps of this race

The race would resume on Lap21, and it would be a matter of making the mediums last, but also keep the rampant soft runners behind for the top 4, but SLR Griffiths was on a charge. The red bull driver made an outstanding move round the outside of SLR Corey at T4 and after the two leaders, but before he could even get a look in at them, Alpine self destructed at the fast chicane, with SLR Jam and Riggs both retiring on the same lap at the same corner, which would bring out the safety car againLap23 saw a talking point as the two title challengers would touch under the caution period, which fuelled speculation as to whether the Red Bull driver had wing damage and how the final laps could unfold. The incident itself was quick, a blink and you'll miss it, and not much may have triggered the events, but it gave Midzy a penalty for contact, and the speculation of wing damage on the red bull

Midzy15 would lead the grid back under racing on lap 25, and the soft runners some time to make their way forward. SLR Griffiths would go up the inside of his teammate for P2, but crucially, would lose the car on his own and any chance of a win would be lost with it

PaRa quick, who so often has a quiet race, but shows up at the right time, was here once again to pick up where Griffiths left off, and would be able to split the two leaders, as did Mr Ogween, who would be up in P3 on lap27

PaRa would make his move for the lead on Lap28, going up the inside of Midzy who would be a sitting duck on the old medium tyres, and in doing so, would put Raceroller back into contention, and would get a run on Midzy down to turn 13. Midzy would keep the inside door shut, which would see Roller onto the grass, and when trying to make the move round the outside, would lock a wheel and go wide.

As it was all kicking off behind him, PaRa would make the best of the situation in hand to take home the provisional win in Australia, with Jibjab having a penalty free race to take P2, and ZyDRAD P3 at the time of writing.

Midzy15 and raceroller22 SC incident

Outcome: 5 seconds removed from midzy15’s race time. No pen to raceroller for the incident

Reason: raceroller misjudged how slowly the safety car was going to be going between the first chicane and turn 3. This resulted in him slightly hitting the back of midzy, giving midzy a 5 second penalty for a collision under safety car. Midzy provided the stewards with sufficient evidence to prove he didn’t serve this penalty in the pits, therefore the pen will be removed. Furthermore as this incident didn’t damage his car we’ve chosen to just remove this penalty and not penalise roller at all, who after his mistake tried his absolute best to avoid contact.

Raceroller22 vs midzy15 lap 28

Outcome: NFA

Reason: midzy sticks to his line on the right hand side of the track. At no point is there a cars width of space on his right hand side. Raceroller tries to fit his car in this very small space but ultimately ends up on the grass. As midzy did not move over to squeeze roller onto the grass and the gap never existed in the first place for the move to be on up the inside we have decided that no penalty shall be given

R1ggs8 vs raceroller22

Outcome: NFA

Reason:Riggs and roller are going side by side in a very tight section of the track (t3 and t4)

Roller has the inside line into turn 4 and hits the apex, using a decent bit of inside kerb. Riggs is on his outside and ends up off track on exit. We feel that roller could do little more to avoid this. He’s ahead going into the corner, turning fairly sharply and it’s a very tight section of track. It’s unfortunate that this forces Riggs off and loses him time, however no blame can be issued to roller for this incident.

Andres vs Corey

Outcome: 5s+2LP to SLR Corey

Reason: Andres is halfway alongside Corey on Corey’s inside, who then hits the apex and turns into him, resulting in Andres being spun.

Div 1 Result: Australia

We kicked the weekend off in Melbourne after more than a year away! SLR Connor was the man to put his car on pole and an incredible effort by SLR Liamm left him starting p2! His highest start of the season! Elite and vapid occupied the second row whilst the two championship leaders bennett and smoke start 5th and 6th.

5 lights went out and Connor got off to a good start whilst liamm dropped down to p3, bennett would make a fine move on vapid to move up to p4 whilst championship leader smoke dropped to p7.

Lap 4 and the safety car was out! Connor and bennett opted to pit for mediums leaving elite liamm and vapid staying out on yeh softs they started on.

The safety car came in, bennett snd Connor were breathing down clocks neck, bennett seemed to have caught Connor napping made a nice move and they followed side by side together through the corner then as the headed to the next corner they collided and both spun, both very lucky to still be in the race but both needing new wings and bennett with side pod and rear wing damage.

The safety car was back out and a man who hadn’t raced in a very long time, SLR Ranga who started last after not qualifying was up to p4! The safety car came in and bennett was struggling with his damage and spun. Heartbreak for Liam also! He spun after colliding with masongammon.

For the last time the safety car was back out and Ranga was leading! Followed by Semm who started p13 the safety car came in and semm who was on much fresher tyres was breathing down rangas neck, lunged up rangas inside on the penultimate corner, took the lead then Ranga went straight for the move back and the two collided sending ranga round, semm carried on.

The checkered flag waved and semm was the man to take the win after starting 13th! A terrific drive one he was very happy with!

Two men who were equally as happy are sotierclock110 and sf1 moley who both finished on the podium!

Congratulations to the podium finishers and join us next week as division 1 will be the first to race at Saudi Arabia

Adrian VIII Vs legendarydannyd - Collision/wing damage (lap 17)

Outcome: Racing incident

Reason: Danny has to react to Moley and Connor battling out and Moley coming back onto the track right infront of Danny. Nothing Danny could of done this was just an unfortunate collision for Adrian

ELiTE x RisKz - 5 second penalty removal

Outcome: Penalty removed as sufficient evidence was provided

OwenHowell36 Vs EIIis 37 - Brake test under SC, possible 5 second penalty removal (lap 9)

Outcome: Ellis to keep the 5 second penalty and 1LP

Reason: Under SC conditions, Ellis manages to follow ranga closely. However he then drops off a little bit and hits the brakes when there is already a big gap between him and ranga. Because Ellis has hit the brakes suddenly, Owen would not of expected this hence the collision. Us stewards have decided not to remove the penalty as we believe Ellis was mainly at fault for this incident.

OwenHowell36 Vs ELiTE x RisKz - Collision (lap 11)

Outcome: 5 seconds + 1LP to Elite

Reason: Despite Owen not being fully alongside Elite, we believe he was still fully entitled to go for this move. We have determined Elite did not leave enough room for Owen in the braking zone and squeezed him hence the contact.

SLR Liamm Vs MasonGammon05 - Collision (lap 13)

Outcome: 3LP for Gammon

Reason: As Gammon didn't provide any defence, we don't really know how this collision was caused. However Gammon comes from nowhere off the track and smashes Liam off the track and spinning him around losing multiple positions and time to the rest of the grid.

SLR Bennett Vs SLR Connor - Collision (lap 8)

Outcome: Racing incident

Reason: Bennett makes a good move on Connor and takes the position. There is then an unfortunate collision of wheels between the two drivers which spins both of them round and gives both damage. Upon review of both POVs, us stewards have determined racing incident as we don't believe either driver was particularly at fault.

VapidCoot74 vs SLR Semm vs SLR Connor vs SLR ranga - Collision (Lap 26)

Outcome: Racing incident

Reason: Ranga understeers into Semm due to being on much older tyres than those around him and spins leaving no one else with anywhere to go hence the further collision. Just a very unlucky incident

Division 2

In division 2 this week a what felt like week long qualifying due to lobby issues was finally completed in the dry sunshine of Melbourne. SLR Quattro took pole ahead of TTM Tez. Matt silva would line up alongside J Lee menz on the second row.

To the race then and a wet race was in store, full wets were on the cars, making conditions treacherous. However a flying start from Matt silva on debit saw him up to 2nd by the first turn. SLR ALE also making a great start gaining 6 places.

A VSC came out on lap 2 as the first of the retirees of the race went out that being J Lee Menz and the unfortunate SLR Dosser who went into Menz.

Laps then ticked by as it was proving very difficult to overtake in the difficult conditions proved by SouthRaptor and SLR Leah battle as Raptor couldn’t find a way past.

SLR Quattro then lost it from the lead of the race bringing out a safety car. A few drivers deciding to pit under this safety car.

Lap 14 TTM Tez crashed out causing our second safety car of the race. A lot of the field chose to pit at this stage with now SLR Leah the only driver not to pit which saw him in P2 on the restart.

Lap 18 saw a great move from SLR ALE on GoldenEggFryer in a difficult section of the track. Then a lap later ALE followed SouthRaptor through making it up to P5 and P6 with 10 laps to go.

Lap 23 dieseldominater became the 8th retirement of the race causing a 3rd safety car. Back underway a few laps later with 4 laps left SLR Charlie lost it allowing SouthRaptor in the podium places. And the chance to charge at SLR Leah in the closing stages.

His 15 lap fresher tyres really making the difference as he did pass Leah on lap 27 and as that happened Zach also made it up to P4. Ahead of ALE..

It was Matt Silva on division 2 debut taking the victory after a great drive, congratulations to him. Southraptor takes P2, SLR Leah gets on the podium after going from start to finish on the same tyres.. SLR ALE P4, Zachisbeast P5, GoldenEggFryer P6, SLR Jack P7, THATGUY P8, Samlamenace2073 P9 and GRT Andrew picking up a point despite crashing on last lap.

Incident - ThatGuy retire on track.

Outcome - 10 seconds and 2LP to ThatGuy

Reason - they clearly retire on track.

Incident - Zach vs 5 second penalty

Outcome - 5 second penalty removed

Reason - Zach provides the proper evidence to show he was able to have the penalty removed.

Incident - Zach vs GoldenEggFryer

Outcome - racing incident

Reason - Egg just about leaves a cars width for zach, just unfortunate contact sent Zach spinning.

Incident - Original vs DiesalDominator

Outcome - NFA

Reason - Diesel hits the back of original accidentally but this doesn’t affect original, diesel also overtook under yellow flags but gives the position back.

Incident - evvo vs GoldenEggFryer

Outcome - NFA

Reason - Egg does move slightly under braking but leaves a cars width for evvo and never forces him off track

Extra note - Drivers are asked to think logically about the incidents they send in, a couple of these incidents were basically time wasters as there was absolutely nothing in them.
