Action from lights to flag in Belgium

McKeon

Round 11 of the SLR McKeon championship is in the Ardennes Forest, Belgium. More commonly known as Spa, the longest track on the calendar and only 22 laps in the race there aren’t many laps to fix poor qualifying if anyone makes any mistakes of the drivers. But with the weather being erratic this could be a fascinating race to watch.

The dry race gave the drivers a relatively easy session, but after the qualifying, it would be BRT Finn to take pole position! A driver who has shown glimpses of pace sets an impressive lap and this will shoot him up the standings if he wins this, so it’ll interesting to see his progress. P2 was BMidzy, a McLaren front row lockout, this was threatened all season with the drivers they have, a good lap from him, and another who’s a bit lower than he’d like but he could make up some points here. P3, in the end, was SLR Corey, still consistently up there wherever the track, and with this position can put some more pressure on SLR Ham19 to take second in the Driver’s up to this point

The race was also dry, so with many trains present across the field and track limits being an issue, it would take the driver's full concentration to do well here, but after 22 laps it would be SLR Corey to take the race win! After a close battle with BRT Finn all race, it would come down to the last lap as Corey and Finn would go into the Bus Stop chicane and collide forcing Corey to cut the corner and take an initial penalty to lose all points he had but after stewarding, he gets it all removed and deemed as Finn’s fault so he takes another win this season. 2nd place was BMidzy. Sure he will be happy with this always in and around the battle for the win but just off the pace of the top, but still a race to be happy with and many points gained for him. 3rd place was Snypz SB. An impressive drive from him, recovering from a poor P12 starting position for him must be a sweet moment that he hasn’t lost too much of the substantial gap he has at the top of the championship.

A fascinating race to watch, with so many battles everywhere, it took all the driver's skill to be able to finish where they finished. Next up will be Zandvoort, Netherlands. A relatively unknown track to SLR, a very twisty track, and the lack of break in the lap, make this one a very hard one for the drivers but with the weather playing a part it will be an interesting race for all involved, but until then hope everyone has a great week!

Division 2

Spa… the longest lap on the calendar. With 2 great opportunities to pass on the lap, what would the battling he like as we head into the second half of the SLR Season.

Qualifying

But before any battling may begin, we must first sort out the grid in the wet conditions! It started well for Scar and debutant Gorzi, setting themselves clear albeit with a whiff of Adrian holding onto that provisional pole time for quite a while. But alas came the final runs, with Gorzi snatching pole, a 1:52.318… But here comes Scar, taking a 4th pole in a role and matching that of former Division 2 driver Drastik Blaze’s early season tally. THATGUY would fill out the top 3, and then Ski Fee and QWERTY the top 5.

The Race

From wet quali came a dry race and a dry race in which all 3 compounds starred. Aaaand in typical fashion in the leader pack was Scar on a soft, and if you remember back to Austria, you would know how that went…

The 5 lights went out and we went racing, and the pole man would keep position, Gorzi would keep position as would ThatGuy until you get to QWERTY and Ski trading places.

Gorzi would take the lead on lap 2 and would hold it until lap 4 where he would lose traction out of Stavelot 2, and losing plenty of positions, a nightmare for the AlphaTauri driver.

There weren’t many moves despite the drs advantage, until lap 7 where ThatGuy would take Scar into Les Combes with the soft tyre starting to falter.

Ski managed to then overcut the soft, with traffic for the Mercedes not helping him in the slightest- and probably the lack of race pace 🙁 .

ThatGuy from the traditional lead pack would be the last to pit going onto lap 14 on softs that would give him more than plenty.

With the softs being massively superior at this stage of the race, ThatGuy would get his charge finalized on lap 16, with a drs overtake on Ski, allowing him to roam clear of the field.

For Scar and Ski, the problems behind them would worsen, with Kirito and QWERTY charging towards them on their respective softs.

The quartet would continue fighting for 2 podium places between them all the way to the chequered flag but drama struck on the final lap.

Kirito (for some reason) decided to throw away a guaranteed podium by receiving a track limits penalty!

But miles ahead, ThatGuy would be him, picking up a second win of the season again in impressive fashion. Ski would take second and QWERTY with thanks to Kirito would take 3rd. The aforementioned Ferrari would finish 4th, with Scar (who dc’d on the final lap) and championship leader Beast finishing next to each other.

So with the gap in the championship once again closing, we get ready to head to the Dutch seafront to take on the technical Circuit Zandvoort!

Here with the angle we have of the incident, it isn’t clear what happens so it just seems like a lap 1 incident to us so an NFA.
