A soggy start to F2 Season 7

Season 7 is upon us, new drivers, new cars, but the same good old SLR F2 action. We arrive down under in the heat, well in this case soggy and wet Albert Park of Australia. Qualifying saw SLR Corey take an 8th SLR F2 pole, with the veteran SLR Ham very close behind.

Last seasons evo champ Charlie would line up on reverse grid pole. We are away for season 7, with the tricky conditions there was bound to be some incidents on the first lap and there was, SLR Ham would collide with Para Quickz and some damage was caused due to that incident. A great first lap for Griffiths saw him gain 8 positions showing his wet weather excellence. Jam would quickly take the lead from Charlie in the opening laps as well hoping to start his campaign with a win. Halfway into the race now and a great 3-way battle between Griffiths, Bennett and Corey for P5 would see Griffiths fly through with Corey slipping in behind in P6. Towards the closing stages of the race SLR Bennett would depart early and bringing out the safety car, not what SLR Jam wanted as he checked out in the lead from Benster. Back underway with 2 laps to go Jam would hold onto the lead with Benster still close behind, Griffiths wouldn’t wait around getting SLR Charlie into T1 and up into 3rd from 19th!!! Going onto the last lap Corey would be all over the back of Beast but the VAR of beast held off the Virtousi of Corey to come home P4 and P5. But Jam starts the season the way he ended the last, winning the sprint and withstanding the pressure from Benster and Griffiths from 19th to get the final podium place.

If the sprint was anything to go off, then we’re in for a fantastic feature race. A great start from the top 3 but the Carlin of Ham wasn’t waiting around and took the lead from Corey into the first corner. The reining champion Jam with a great first lap up into P4 and fighting Para Quick for P3. Griffiths again showing is unbelievable wet weather pace gaining 8 positions in the opening laps. The safety car would make another appearance with Evoke Replay losing his front wing. Safety car is in and back underway we go; Jam and para would immediately challenge for P2 off the start going 3 wide into T1!!! But staying in the positions they started in, Ham would be gone out in front by 2seconds after the battling behind. One man who benefited from the safety car was Griffiths now up into P6 with 7 laps to go. Another two drivers who were having great races were the evo drivers of shutmedal and EVVO who were P11 & P12 at the time. But it wasn’t meant to be for EVVO as it would turn into a disasterous weekend for the MP driver as it would end in the barriers and we would see the safety car one final time. Now I don’t think any of us could believe this but Jam losing it behind the safety car would see a great opening weekend turn upside down. Safety car back in and a 3-horse race on our hands for the win between Ham, Corey and Benster. But Ham would hold on to win the opening Feature race of the season with Corey and benster rounding out the top 3. Griffiths again gaining 15 positions to come home in P4. A great day for the evo drivers as well as 4 would score points in the feature of Charlie who came home 6th in both races, Shutmedal who started 18th finished 8th! Bennett and Allen rounding out the official top 10.

Next week we head to the dunes of the desert in Bahrain, where we shouldn’t have a washout in the weather but who knows.

Driver of the round: SLR Charlie, P6 in both races and showing some excellent pace and great points for the evo driver

As you were, CM x

PaRa Quickz 5 second pen removal Lap 13 - Feature Verdict: Removal of 5 second pen

PaRa Quickz couldn’t do anything to avoid making contact with the spinning car in front who lost it on his own. The game gives him a 5 second pen for a severe collision.

Correct ingame pen applied as Qw3rty has overtaken under SC Conditions.

UKBeastAssassin vs SLR Jam40 Lap 16 - Feature Verdict: Racing Incident

SLR Jam40 is always going to be hitting along that outside wall seen multiple drivers do it all race. UKBeastAssassin does the same thing just later through the corner veering left and makes contact with SLR Jam40 resulting in giving himself major wing damage.
