⅓ of the season is gone and it’s beginning to ramp up.

Round 7 of the SLR McKeon division takes us to the streets of Baku, Azerbaijan. A quicker Monaco with any lock in the race could cause any damage and to be as fast as you can around this track you have to go as close to the walls as you dare to go to gain time around this tricky track. With WTurn3r not being able to race, due to an issue, it may cause a swing in this championship with this being the best chance for rivals to take a chunk out of the lead at the top.

Qualifying was a standard session with a few surprising DNFs with drivers getting caught out by the infamous castle section. But it was CrowdingDoor994 who would take the pole position. An excellent lap from the Mercedes driver and with him being one of the contenders near the top would he be able to convert the best starting position for the start of the race? P2 in qualifying was BMidzy, who ever since coming back to racing, really has looked like he has never left and with this impressive qualifying pace, he has really got a chance to ramp up a battle at the top with his pace looking ever present. Rounding off the top 3 was SimbarocksONE, with his best qualifying start of the season! A driver who has been showing promise all season in practice and the races is able to hook up the lap he needs to be able to fight near the top and will be fascinating if he can convert it in the race.

The race was one of the best this season with mayhem everywhere. A wet start really made a setup dilemma for all the drivers and the rain supposedly stopped very quickly it really played on the driver's minds making sure that they make the right decision with the strategy. But with 4 safety cars, it really made that difficult for all and with many DNFs, it really mixed up the race. After all the chaos it was TV8 Ogween77 who came through to win his first race as the reigning champion. He made all of the right decisions when he needed to make them and most importantly had the pace to keep the lead of the race and take the win. Coming home in second place was ELiTE x RisKz, who after having a relatively bad qualifying for his pace, was able to pick his way back to the top and after being involved with the chaos, kept his head and was close to pipping Ogween to the line but wasn’t close enough. Rounding off the podium, was BRT Griffiths, who after starting from last just skipped his way through the chaos and really showed his pace and comes home with an impressive result from his starting position.

After one of the most chaotic races of the season, it really was a great watch for all as the mayhem ensued for some, it will be a race to remember but for others, it will be a race to forget for some, with many mistakes from drivers. The next time out will be at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for Canada, a very fast track, a staple for the calendar, and one which is very very tricky to get right with so many places for the drivers to invalidate their qualifying lap and create a tricky race for themselves. Mckeon Stewards Report

Incident 1:

BRT Jobo + BRT Griffiths vs MeRkz47 - Lap 9 - Causing A Collision

Outcome: 10s Time Penalty + 2Lps to MeRkz47

Reason: MeRkz47 brakes late and goes into the back of BRT Griffiths causing him to spin and BRT Jobo also picks up damage in the process

Incident 2:

NRX Crowding vs GRL Atom77 - Lap 14 - Spinning Another Car

Outcome: 10s Time Penalty + 2Lps to GRL Atom77

Reason: Atom hits the rear of Crowding and causes him to spin and lose his position

Incident 3:

NRX Crowding vs TMS SORA - Lap 20 - Overtaking Under Safety Car

Outcome: Warning to TMS SORA

Reason: Sora did overtake under safety but did give the position back and didn't have a lasting advantage from it so that's why we have issued a warning

Incident 4:

Shutmedal vs NRX Crowding - Lap 25 - Causing Major Damage

Outcome: 5s Time Penalty and 1Lp to NRX Crowding

Reason: although Shutmedal does brake on the exit of a corner, he had to do that to avoid a collision with the guy in front but Crowding did not react at all and smashes into the back of Shutmedal Causing Terminal Damage

Incident 5:

SparksYT15 vs SemmF1 vs PaRa Quickz - Lap 1 - Causing Minor Damage

Outcome 3s Time Penalty and 1Lp to SemmF1 (Changed to just the 1LP due to DNF)

Reason: SemmF1 went down the inside of turn 1 and then went to go wide onto the racing line, but PaRa Quickz was to the side of him which caused them to collide and then hit SparksYT15 into the wall

Incident 6:

Riggsey vs NRX Crowding - Lap 22 - Causing A Collision

Outcome: 10s Time Penalty and 3Lps to NRX Crowding

Reason: Riggsey is battling with Elite and Crowding brakes far too late and from far back and just clobbers Riggsey and takes him out

Division 2

Round 7 in Season 10 of Summit League Racing takes us to the Baku City Circuit for Division 2 this week, and it's sure to be a messy one.

10 minutes into the session and the lap times are slowly starting to come in thick and fast with J Lee Menz setting the fastest time so far with a 1:39.995 the only guy into the 39s so far. 3 cars have already crashed and are out of qualifying. Into the last 3 minutes of the session and everyone is scrambling out of the pits to get the final run in. J Lee Menz improves on his time and does a 1:39.604 currently in pole position by 4 tenths, can anyone get close to the ferrari? Out of nowhere LSW L3G3ND44 sets a 1:39.575 to take the top spot, J Lee Menz in P2 and FRL Kirito takes P3 with an improved time of 1:39.879 and Vapidcoot74 just behind him by 0.005 in P4.

As we head around the track on the formation lap, the majority of cars are starting on the medium compound tyres, with just 4 starting on the hards. The lights go out and FRL Kirito gets the jump off the line and takes the lead before turn 1. Everyone gets through lap 1 without an incident but lap 2 is where the action begins as Owenhowell36 gets a lovely move done at turn 1 on Kislesko to take P10 but further ahead F1ABQWERTYYY misses his breaking point and goes into the back of Coupe a Benz and spins him dropping him to the back of the field.

But Coupe a Benz loses the car at the Invisible wall chicane and that brings out the VSC on Lap 3. Going onto lap 5 and Active JMC has binned it into the wall at turn 1 and it brings out the full safety car. Majority of the field has decided to pit but 6 cars have taken the chance for track position and stayed out. Safety car is coming in then at the end of Lap 7 and dRaSt1k bLazE leads the way down the main straight for the restart and he does go very late but doesnt catch out F1ABQW3RTYYY who is right on his tail and THATGUY691244 spins at turn 2 which drops him a couple of places but dRaSt1k bLazE spins from P1 at turn 4 and falls to P12.

LSW L3G3ND44 takes full advantage of F1ABQWERTYYY and Kislesko battling it out and does the double overtake on them both to take P1! Oh no lap 12 and F1ABQWERTYYY and FRL Kirito try to go side by side going into the castle session and FRL Kirito goes into the wall and brings out the safety car! A few corners later F1ABQWERTYYY crashes into the wall under the safety car and ends his race prematurely as well. Everyone but the top 4 have decided to come into the pits to put a fresh set of medium tyres on, now Ellis 37 has crashed under the safety car and we are now down to 15 drivers left in this race.

Safety car comes into the pit lane on Lap 14 and LSW L3G3ND44 leads the pack and Sotierclock110 has gone into the wall at turn 1 but not out of the race, Kislesko and VapidCoot74 almost made contact on the straight but the aston martin driver gets the position to go P3, J Lee Menz looks to be struggling on the 10 lap hard tyres compared to Kislesko on the fresh mediums as he is all over the back of him, there is contact between the drivers at turn 4 but kislesko gets past the ferrari now looking to chase down LSW L3G3ND44.

OwenHowell36 and dRaSt1k bLazE go side by side down the main straight and its OwenHowell36 who gets it done and SLR Mash with a beautiful move down the inside at turn 4 to take the place from dRaSt1k bLazE. 6 Laps left to go then its looking like a Aston Martin 1-2 but whos gonna finish where? But legendarydannyd decided to spice it up and bins the car at the invisible wall chicane and brings out the full safety car, who will pit and who will stay out for track position? LSW L3G3ND44 has pitted from the lead of the race and his team mate stays out. So did 4 other drivers on old tyres for the last 2 laps of the race while everyone had a fresh set of soft tyres.

Safety car comes in then at the end of lap 24, LSW L3G3ND44 already making up 2 spots within the 1st sector and with the last lap to go hes hunting down the mercedes of GoldenEggFryer in P2 and they collide with L3G3ND looking desperate just sending it on everyone trying to catch Kislesko but couldn't catch him in time and Kislesko takes the win and L3G3ND in P2 to make it a double podium for aston martin and VapidCoot74 taking the last step of the podium, SLR Moley finishes in P6 is he having a nose bleed? But thankfully baku is over and now we head to Canada for the next round so join us then!

Incident involving Adrian VIII, LSW L3G3ND44 and SLR Mash - Lap 25, Turns 11/12:

10 second penalty and 2 Licence Points to LSW L3G3ND44 for spinning another car causing multiple collisions, L3G3ND hits Adrian which causes a chain reaction of multiple incidents.

Incident involving OwenHowell36 and legendarydannyd - Qualifying, Turn 3:

2 Licence Points to Danny for an obvious block.

Incident involving OwenHowell36 and SLR Mash - Lap 8 Turn 7:

5 second penalty and 1 Licence Point to SLR Mash for spinning another car - despite Owen tapping Ellis we feel as though Mash would’ve made contact anyway, spinning Owen.

Incident involving Ellis37 and FRL Kirito - Lap 8, Turn 1:

No further action - There’s never a move on and Kirito is simply slotting back in behind the car ahead at Turn 1.

Incident involving FRL Kirito and F1ABQW3RTY - Lap 12, Turns 8/9:

No further action - both drivers had ample opportunity to back out and neither did meaning contact was inevitable.

Incident involving J Lee Menz and Kislesko - Lap 18, Turn 4:

5 second penalty and 1 Licence Point to Kislesko - An overly aggressive move where Kislesko out-brakes himself and puts Menz in the wall.

Incident involving drast1k blaze and F1ABQ3RTY - Lap 8, Turn 3:

5 second penalty and 1 Licence Point to F1ABQW3RTY for spinning another car - F1ABQW3RTY out-brakes himself and spins blaze.

Incident involving drast1k blaze and SLR Mash - Lap 19, Turn 4:

No further action - it’s an aggressive but fair move from Mash and there’s nothing to prove that blaze receives damage.

Incident involving drast1k blaze and SLR Mash - Lap 19, Turn 6/7 straight:

3 second penalty and 1 Licence Point to SLR Mash - Mash comes across on the straight and squeezes blaze in an easily avoidable incident.

Incident involving SLR Mash and drast1k blaze - Lap 18, Turn 15 exit:

No further action - blaze loses the car and hits the wall, nothing he can do about the contact with Mash, just an unfortunate incident.

Incident involving GoldenEggFryer and LSW L3G3ND - Lap 26, Turn 4:

5 second penalty and 1 Licence Point for LSW L3G3ND for causing a collision - L3G3ND locks up and forced Fryer into the wall.

Incident involving LSW L3G3ND - Lap 21, Pit entry:

No further action - It’s not a dangerous move from L3G3ND and no rules have been set on the pit entry thus we don’t want to set a precedent therefore NFA.
