Baku

McKeon

Baku served us up an incredibly unpredictable race in the Mckeon division

Firstly Q1, where the tight Azerbaijani streets would claim their first victims, that being semm and ZyDRAD. The latter had shown some great pace in practice so it was a real setback, but one he would be sure to recover from.

Q3 would throw the drivers another curveball as it started to rain 5 minutes in! Championship leader midzy was not fazed by this rain, putting his mclaren on pole for the 4th race this season. Crispy would line up beside him, despite only setting a rain affected lap later in the session. A standout impressive performance would be by V2, who put his Alfa in p3

Onto the race, where in the opening laps the top 6 remained relatively unchanged. Last season’s champion Raceroller had worked his way into a strong position but unfortunately picked up damage! This would lose him a lot of time in his stop. First of the pitters of the top guys was para quickz, going for a massive undercut. This paid off as he undercut everyone except for the top 2! Entering the crucial midpoint in the race your effective top 3 was midzy, Crispy and para. As Para had begun to drop off. it was clear it was going to be a two horse race. Or was it???? Disaster for crispy! An incident with crowding left him with damage. A huge setback in the haas driver’s championship challenge.

So with his main 2 rivals picking up damage and a massive gap to the cars behind, it looked for all the world like midzy would take this opportunity to massively open up his championship lead. However, he would make a HUGE uncharacteristic mistake and spin, picking up damage in the process. Suddenly everyone behind smelt blood, and it would be a 4 horse battle between para, v2, monkeyy and ZyDRAD for the win! Zy had worked his way up excellently on the alternate strategy and had unreal pace on his fresh softs, making light work of the top 3 to take an incredible lead. However one last twist was to happen.

That final twist would come from a bizarre bug with the F1 game. Zy’s teammate Andres for whatever reason had completely desynced on his screen and in the penultimate lap zy went to lap this desynced car and got brake checked, losing his win. This would mean that para and monkeyy would pass him on the final lap.

However, due to this error and incredible sportsmanship from both para and monkeyy, the two Dutchmen would agree to rectify this glitch and reinstate the PSR driver in p1. A true last to first challenge for Zy and a well deserved win in a crazy race

Incident involving Crispy2001 & NRX Crowding - Lap 16 (Causing a Collision)

Outcome: 5 Second penalty + 2LP awarded to NRX Crowding & a warning awarded to Crispy2001

Reason: The stewards have determined with the evidence provided, that on Lap 16, going into turn 1, the trajectory of Crowding’s car turning in does not leave enough space for Crispy. It is only after contact is made that Crispy is able to just about squeeze between the barrier and Crowding’s car. The stewards determined that it was a minor miracle that Crispy did not pick up damage for this, and he was most certainly squeezed off track. The role of the contact at T1 then plays a part in the next part of the incident on the run down to Turn 2 by sending both cars wider than both would like.

However, despite the initial incident playing a part in the reason why the second part of the incident occurs, the stewards believe it is Crispy who is at fault for failing to leave enough space for Crowding, as he had enough control of his car for a long enough period at this stage to leave room for the Aston Martin.

Many thoughts were shared on this part of the incident. It is worth noting that the barrier/wall on the exit of T1 does marginally slope inwards towards the track from the exit, and with little room left between the two cars, this probably hard a part to play in the contact also. However, despite Crispy being ⅔ of a car length ahead at this stage the conclusion was that Crowding did not have to back out in that part of the circuit. It can be argued that doing so may have been more dangerous because of the front and rear wheels of the 2 cars overhanging. With that being said, we have come to the conclusion that Crispy doesn’t leave enough room for Crowding’s car on the run down to T2, hence why his car is spun into the wall, with him receiving the initial damage. Like with the Raceroller incident at Portimao, Crispy is given a warning for this reason for failing to leave racing room for another car.

The further damage caused to Crispy’s car is then away from the incident between the 2 drivers, and thus the stewards’ intervention ends.

Outcome: 10s and 2LP to Paul

Reason: as jam applies the brakes you can see he gets hit from behind and into the wall, costing him a potential podium.

ARL Tooman vs SLR Quattro

Outcome: Racing incident

Reason: as there side by side with little to hardly any room we feel like this is a racing incident as one would have to give way heading into the castle.

Division 2

Round 6 is upon us as we traveled to the streets of Baku for the Azerbaijan GP. Rewind a week, our drivers took to the infamous streets of Monte Carlo, so their street circuit skills were readily practiced for this week. Will our championship leader I VR46 I retain his dominant display of pole and race win here in Baku? Or will we have a new challenger moving up the ranks?

Qualifying proved the latter. SLR Liamm taking pole by a near sweet three tenths from LSW L3G3ND44 who would start alongside him on the front row. L3G3ND poked his Mclaren to 2nd on the grid by 0.001s from SLR ALE proving the competitive nature of this division which has been a running theme this season. One to note, Liam had gone rouge and started on the Medium compound tyre rather than the Soft.

The five red lights were out and away we went, and credit to the drivers as turn 1 and turn 2 were well driven by all. By turn 4 SLR Liamm had a full second gap on the car behind, SLR ALE who had found a way around the other Mclaren. Looking down the rest of the field, Simon37M made a credible first sector moving up multiple positions.

As we watched down the grid, we see components of the cars flying apart as the tight turns of Baku approach, and it seems to be the Aston Martin of SLR Morgan at the heart of the damage inflicted. But then it is clear to all that the Alpine of Simon37M, who started so well, had no wing left by the castle section!

Moving up past the castle section to our flat out corners, Simon’s damage seems undrivable as he clatters the far wall and putting him directly out of the race.

And again we have a direct retirement from the crash, this time it is the Red Bull of legendarydannyd. He comes to a halt at the final slight corner down the main straight in a high speed crash. The safety car is deployed and the drivers can reflect on a mad first lap and calm their nerves.

The safety car comes in lap 4 and BadOtterTV in the Williams makes an extraordinary move on Ellis37 from the restart around the outside of T1 to take 3rd place. On the same lap, SLR Moley drops it on the same corner as legendarydannyd and slams into the opposite wall this time, meaning that’s already 3 cars out of this race. This appears to be a survival series type race! Safety car is out again and the drivers will again bunch up.

We then jump all the way to Lap16, and despite his surge to the front from mid pack starting position, BadOtterTV is claimed by the castle section as so many drivers are. So unfortunate as his start appeared incredible showing such race pace.

We move to Lap20, and crucially the front 2, SLR Liamm and Ellis 37 split strategy on pit stops. Liam pits earlier meaning Ellis goes longer with fresher for the end sprint. As Ellis pits next lap, to his luck, the safety car is deployed as the Haas fill in of CSCMorris crashes into a wall in the 3rd sector deploying the Safety car one final time.

Adrian VIII from absolutely nowehere puts his Mercedes into P1 and decides to stick the pain out in hope he can see out a last lap sprint to the finish line. The soft runners behind would be desperate to pounce past though. Lap 25, our drivers were released. They saw opportunity and showed their skills right until the finish.

Adrian VIII would unfortunately lose out on the final lap to a double switchback by Ellis37 in the middle sector who just had more grip, and Ellis would move on to win the race. Following him, Adrian VIII would get involved in carnage behind and so would Liamm and OwenHowell36 who found a way past 4 cars on the final few laps to secure second place! Liamm received damage and lost out on a superb showing. In a sprint to the end, VapidCoot74 in the Alfa would take 3rd place in an incredible sprint to round up our race.

Next week, we take ourselves to Circuit Paul Ricard for the French Grand Prix, in a much more open track. Be sure to join us for another exciting showing from Division 2!

Incident 1:

Adrian Vs VR46 - 5s and 1LP to VR46 for overtaking under yellow flags.

After reviewing the evidence provided, there is clear evidence that VR overtakes whilst the race is still under yellow flag conditions.

Incident 2:

Comet Vs Legend - 5s and 1LP to Legend for overtaking under yellow flags.

After reviewing the evidence provided, there is clear evidence that Legend overtakes whilst the race is still under yellow flag conditions.

Incident 3:

Morgan Vs Simon - 5s and 1LP to Simon for causing a collision.

There are 2 points of contact here, the first at turn 2 is a racing incident, however the incident down at turn 3 was careless and resulted in Morgan losing all of his front wing.

Incident 4:

Morgan Vs Rapid - Warning to SLR Morgan to leave sufficient racing room whilst battling with another car.

Incident 5:

Morgan Vs Liam - Racing incident.

There is slight contact but neither car receives damage and this is really just hard, but fair racing as room is left for both cars.

Incident 6:

Liam Vs Owen - Racing Incident.

Liam cuts back onto the racing line when there is not enough room for him to do so. Owen holds his line and defends the position fairly. The nature of the contact is unfortunate, but Owen is not at fault here.

Incident 7:

Legend timing glitch - Legend to be awarded P9.

Legend clearly crosses the line ahead of Comet and so is awarded his rightful finishing position of 9th.

Division 3

In division 3 this week another street circuit awaited in Azerbaijan and Baku. Qualifying was a tense affair which really got going in Q2 with drivers trying to get through to Q3 and therefore start the race on the mediums. SLR Charlie, Slr xhaka, SLR dosser, dimplyhornnet and active jmc the ones managing to do that.

Into Q3 then and the Aston Martin team of SLR Charlie and xhaka used there teamwork greatly here with xhaka towing Charlie down the straight to set a blistering time. GoldenEggFryer would line up alongside Charlie on the front row. SLR dosser and active jmc would line up on the second row.

To the race then and a bit of chaos in the opening couple of turns with lots of contact but MVT Hurww made up 8 places taking advantage of this and SLR scopezz on his return to a familiar division also made up 5 places.

Not to much happened early on as drs chains started to form and just a few mistakes were made and pit stops were made.

Qbr20 jay then hit the wall on the pit lane entry and a safety car was needed to clear up the track. This gage soft tyre starters a chance to pit. Mediums runners stayed out however.

Charlie would lead us away. Got very close in behind with scopezz, xhaka, Leah and EVVO fighting for position.

It took scopezz a further lap but did manage to get passed xhaka. Leah would then also make the move a few corners later.

On lap 12 a change of lead was made as SLR dosser got Charlie in to turn 1. A lap later Leah made a move on scopezz for P4 was a slight touch and that spent scopezz into a spin and unfortunately hampered a few drivers.

Moving into the closing stages a three way battle for the lead was heating up With the current top 5 yet to pit. SLR dosser was the first to pit Charlie then came in the next lap as well as Leah.

Leah got the undercut on SLR Jack who stayed out an extra lap. So we had a 4 way battle for the win with 7 laps to go.

Samlamenace however was in the lead but on hard tyres they were no match for the guys on fresh softs.

Well getting passed Samlamenace, SLR Leah lost drs to Charlie and dosser this allowed SLR Jack to make the move down the straight. The battling out front meant this then brought Jack and Leah back in to play.

Then just a couple laps from the end SLR dosser picked up a penalty which would cost him. SLR Charlie did get the move done on track however and he would pick up the victory extending his championship lead. Dosser crossed the line third but would drop to P4 and off the podium with that penalty so SLR Jack got 2nd and SLR Leah 3rd.

5th was SLR EVVO, Samlamenace would just hold off Alpeh on the run to the line to claim P6. Dimplyhornet P8, SLR scopezz P9 on his return and MVT Hurww got the final point in 10th.

Incident involving: SLR Scopezz & SLR Leah

Outcome: No Further Action

Reason: After reviewing the evidence the stewards have decided there will be no further action for this incident as there was just enough room to make it around the corner

Incident Involving: SLR Xhaka & Active JMC

Outcome: 10s Penalty + 3LPs to Active JMC For Divebomb Into Turn 3

Reason: After reviewing the evidence the stewards feel this was a clear divebomb into turn 3 and Active JMC was going at such a speed that if he hadn't hit SLR Xhaka he wouldn't of made the corner and hit the wall.

Incident Involving: GoldenEggFryer vs Active JMC

Outcome: 10s Penalty + 3LPs to Active JMC For Causing A Collision

Reason: After reviewing the evidence the stewards have decided that this move turn 1 on lap 1 was Reckless by Active JMC and luckily no cars sustained damage from this incident.

Incident Involving: GoldenEggFryer & dRaSt1k bLazE

Outcome: 10 Second Penalty + 3 lps to dRaSt1k bLazE For Ignoring Yellow Flags and causing a collision

Reason: After reviewing multiple clips the stewards have decided that dRaSt1k bLazE carried on at normal speed through a corner while yellow flags was ahead and he had enough time to react and slow down but didn't thus smashing into the back of GoldenEggFryer and putting him into the wall and giving him wing damage.

Incident Involving: DimplyHornet862 & SLR Xhaka

Outcome: 5 Second Penalty and 1 lp

Reason: After reviewing the evidence the stewards have awarded this penatly to SLR Xhaka As he late brakes into turn 1 and completely cuts DimplyHornet862 off and causes him to spin

Division 4

Azerbaijan Division 4 season 8

Qualifying on the Baku street circuit caused a bit of a stir, several drivers crashed out and crowd favourite for Pole, Swinners28, was ousted down to 4th on the grid. with there being less than a second split between the top 10 it looked like it was going to be a close race.

At lights out the top 3 jostled for position several drivers damaged their front wings and Primus crashed out of the race at the final corner. this broguht a virtual safety car out and 4 of the top 6 enter the pits with Swinners out in front.Vision fell foul of the VSC and gained a drive through penalty losing him his hard earnt second place.

lap 3 and hickin found himself turned around in the castle section and collided with Pazuzu knocking them both out SLR russell narrowly missed the incident but ends up crashing out seemingly shook by the event. the safety car came out to restart the race lap 6.another 2 cars crash on the final corner Timole and Maxwell, initiating another safety car within a lap of the last one ending.

The race restarted lap 10 with 6 drivers of the 19 now DNF.

this time SmitHPDan lost it on the last corner. Swinners continued to dominate the Race pulling 4.6 seconds by lap 13.

Lap 15 Floersch crashed out bringing another safety car on track. most of the pack pitted Swinners opting to stretch the softs 10 laps with vision and everyone else going for fresh mediums.

the race restarted lap 18 out of 26. lap 20 rosco crashed out at the final corner going into lap 21 warhead and St2oh come together both managing to survive. Swinners pulling a massive lead of 3.3 seconds.

Lap 22 sees stevobrick crash out on the final corner Bigbag started to reel Swinners in gaining 3 tenths and Warhead hunting down Cxmzn.

Lap 23 Warhead overtook Cxmzn in the straight only to lose the car in turn 2 being the last car to lose it at Azerbaijan. Bigbag continues to reel Swinners in the split reduced to 2.5 seconds.

in the final lap Vision managed to take 2nd place from Bigbag and Swinners took First.

10 cars out of the 19 crashed out leaving 8 left on track. we conclude our race at Baku for Division 4.

Incident 1: Rsf1 Pazuzu vs SLR Hicklin - Lap 3, Dangerous Driving/Causing a collision

Outcome: Race Ban and 4 license points to SLR Hicklin

Reason: SLR Hicklin drives the wrong way through the castle section after a spin, as Rsf1 Pazuzu arrives at castle and collides with him causing both drivers to retire. The stewards deemed this to be extremely dangerous driving.

Incident 2: BigBag92 vs Vision2614 - Lap26, Excessive squeezing

Outcome: 3 second time penalty and 1 license point to Vision2614

Reason: The stewards decided Vision2614 does not leave sufficient space for BigBag92 as BigBag does have to lift off the power to avoid hitting the wall. He does still scrape the wall which the stewards deemed sufficient evidence as to excessive squeezing.

Incident 3: F1 Warhead vs St2oH - Lap 21, Excessive Squeezing/Causing a collision

Outcome: Racing Incident

Reason: Stewards decided that St2oh and F1 Warhead are racing alongside each other, and although St2oh is further ahead, he appears to try and open up the entry to the Turn 2 and hasn't realised that F1 Warhead is still alongside and the 2 cars collide. F1 Warhead appears to suffer no damage and we do not deem him at fault, we agreed on a racing incident.

Note: SLR Hicklin has now reached the license point threshold for an Official Warning for driving standards
