McKeon

More chaos from the top division.

Round 11 of the SLR McKeon championship and we are at Spa Francochamps, Belgium. A track everyone looks forward to with it being a balanced track from pad to wheel, but overtaking here can be difficult with the main overtaking spot going into Turn 1 or down the Kemmel straight but with DRS trains likely can be made even more difficult. With the championship lead cut to just 23 points, who will be able to take the 7km track the best and take the win in the Arden forest?

Qualifying was another dry session not much weather has affected qualifying this season but after 18 mins of action, it would be FRA Arch to take his first pole position of the season in only his second race! An incredibly talented driver who is always up there wherever he drives but really shows his skill by taking pole by a commanding gap. 2nd place was raceroller22, a fantastic result for the Alpine driver who in recent races has had for his standards, some really poor quali's and races, but this lap and position are really an improvement and he’ll be hoping he can get some more results like this going forward. Rounding off the top 3 was WTurn3r. The man who can’t do wrong this season, he always finds that one lap he needs to be up there, it’s truly remarkable the consistency he has shown so far and right now is certainly deserving of his lead at the top of the driver's championship. With Turner and championship rival TV8 Ogween77 only 2 positions apart from the start, let’s hope for a good battle, and let’s see how this championship will swing.

The race was a chaotic one, two safety cars during the race, one on Lap 4 and another one towards the end of the race, made the drivers have to think deeply about what they wanted to do strategy with some deciding to pit during the late Safety Car, going onto Softs and try to use the massive grip difference, but after all the action it would be FRA Arch who would take his first win of the season and convert his pole position! Commanding all the way through and never looked in doubt at all. Second place was Midzy, who after the pretty bad quali he had, it is a welcome result for the Red Bull man who is beginning to piece together some good results, he always has had this pace it’s just the results for whatever reason hasn’t been there but this is another good result for him and hopefully, he can find some consistency but is certainly tricky in this grid. Rounding off the top 3 was WTurn3r who continues his form and gets another podium this season, he is really beginning to show champion material by taking good results from tracks he expects to be lower down at, and now he is getting ever closer to getting the championship. A notable driver from the rest of the pack is Riggsey x, a driver who usually struggles in qualifying but when it comes to the Race he always is up there, and taking a P7 from starting P19 is a great result for the Alpha Tauri driver who keeps picking up points in races from mistakes from others.

A tricky race for all and with Safety Cars bunching the pack up, it came back in with two laps to go, it made for aggressive driving but also some great entertainment. Next week in the McKeon division it will be at the Temple of Speed, Monza, a challenge for all with such low wings, and with it being such a fast lap, it requires a lot of concentration from all the drivers as one mistake could send the car round and ruin there race. While the SLR Reserve Man does his usual creaming over an Italy race, hope everyone has a great week!

CharlieM2004 vs SLR HAM19 - Lap 22 - Forcing Another Driver Off Track

Outcome: 3s Time Penalty + 1 LP to SLR HAM19

Reason: Charlie gets a bad run out of the exit due to being 2 wide, ham then sends Charlie off the track when there is both plenty of track and time for Ham to slow down or move across.

MeRkz47 vs SLR EVVO - Lap 9 - Spinning Another Car

Outcome: 5s Time Penalty + 2LPs to SLR EVVO

Reason: Merkz brakes at what for him is the correct point, the slipstream given to EVVO causes him to go deeper making contact with MeRkz and spinning him.

Division 2

Another week of SLR Division 2 and this week we are at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, underway with qualifying and Kemence61 who set the quickest time so far with a 1:43.964. But the championship leader J Lee Menz beats that instantly with a 1:43.408 and then OwenHowell36 now sitting in P2 after setting a 1:43.707. 5 minutes left of the session and FRL Kirito puts himself into P2 with a 1:43.691 and then VapidCoot74 sets a 1:43.698 to slot into P3 with 4 minutes remaining. Chequered flag is out, it's J Lee Menz on pole with his banker lap, Kirito in P2 and VapiCoot74 takes P3.

Lights out and we are underway for the belgian GP and Kirito gets the most traction off the line and into the lead, VapiCoot74 jumping J Lee Menz also, and to our shock JMC causes a crash on the straight and takes out Sotierclock and brings out the safety car. So long laps laps around the track with the safety car but FRL Kirito spins under the safety car trying to warm his tyres up going from the lead of the race to P12. So it's VapidCoot74 who gets us underway at the end of lap 3. And the top two of VapidCoot74 and J Lee Menz already pulls a 2 second gap on ZachIsBeast25. SLR Mash with the usual crash and gets front wing damage and drops from P7 to P15.

VapidCoot74 the race leader has crashed on the exit of radillion and is out of the race! And that brings out the full safety car on Lap 8 and Everyone has come into the pits to do the mandatory pit stop except for GoldenEggFryer. We get back underway on lap 11 and GoldenEggFryer gets the jump on Menz and gets a second gap on him already. DRS enabled on Lap 13 and J Lee Menz gets past GoldenEggFryer to take the lead of the race. Few Laps later on Lap 16 and LSW L3G3ND44 is doing some great driving holding off FRL Kirito for P4, a lap later Legend outbrakes dRaSt1k bLazE into the bus stop chicane and takes P3 now pushing on to catch up to ZachIsBeast25 in P2. but on lap 19 Legend spins at the start of sector 3 and drops from P3 now down to P9.

Its J Lee Menz who crosses the line at the chequered flag to take the win at the Belgian GP, ZachIsBeast25 in P2 and OwenHowell36 takes the final spot on the podium! Kislesko with a good recovery from the back to P5 also. Join us next week for a trip to the temple of speed Monza.

Incident involving FRL Kirito and LSW L3G3ND44 - Lap 15, Turn 20:

No further action - Kirito tries to go around L3G3ND’a outside, he comes from over a car length back and thus L3G3ND doesn’t need to leave space anyway, regardless of this Kirito literally loses no time.

Incident involving Active JMC and SotierClock110 - Lap 1, Kemmel Straight:

2 License Point to Active JMC for causing a collision resulting in terminal damage - there are a multitude of factors involved in this incident and so it wasn’t a straightforward decision. We had 3 different clips sent in that all gave somewhat different perspectives of who was at fault for the collision.

The one constant however was that despite not turning across and into Clock, JMC was angled in such a way that he was drifting slightly left down the straight. While Clock was not using the whole width of the track at his disposal this isn’t something which 1. He has to do and 2. Would have in this case avoided a collision as JMC should have been more aware of his car’s position down the straight.

With that being said, as the resulting outcome was both drivers receiving terminal damage, and JMC being seen to be at fault, we believe the actions here caused a completely accidental collision and neither driver actively attempted to cause a collision it was simply down to a slight lack of awareness and therefore our penalty may be deemed as being slightly lenient but we feel it is a fair one under the aforementioned circumstances.

@moonwalker048 vs @c0w3n Causing a collision- Lap 21

Outcome: 10 seconds and 2LP to Mellow

We feel that Mellow is so far back to make any overtake and in the end, braking so late that he used c0w3n as a brake to make the corner, that this incident is just reckless driving hence the penalty chosen.

@SHANEy vs @Lofty I I Impeding Qualifying Lap

Outcome: 1 LP to SHANEy

The stewards feel that this incident is an unfortunate one with SHANEy having run out of fuel, it’s had to get out of the way without any fuel, and because he made an effort to try and get out of the way, we feel the penalty should not be so harsh.
